The thing is, as a programmer, i would be strictly 9 to 5, no overtime (and if i worked from home, no biggie, i play on the computer as often as possible. my wife occasionally calls it the other woman...), and certainly no fucking weekends.

I still have to carry a godamn pager every 3 weeks and answer after-hours support calls. Usually dumbasses thinking that deleting all of their outlook contacts on their work computer from home is an emergency...(that really happened the last time i was on...)

I actually answered a call one night a few years ago. me and a bunch of guys from work were at a bar having drinks, when i get paged. So i listen to the message, and this dick was just checking the status of a trouble ticket he had put in earlier.

I called him back and gave him a royal ass chewing. Wanting to know if someone is going to check up on something woith your email tomorrow is NOT a fucking emergency....

and Vod .. i used to do network admin .. i could be getting a lot more right now (if i retrained for the new skills) but i made a pesonal decision years ago that i wanted to be at home as much as possible .. not turn into a driven corporate boy.

i refuse to manage anyone, i wont work overtime or weekends, and i'm not on call - ever.

i'm not lazy or unmotivated ... but no amount of money is worth not seeing my son grow up ..

well if you worked hard then you deserve everything you have, I'm currently trying to get on with Dimension films as an intern. I sent them(amoung others)a bunch of my scripts and one of their low level executives contacted me,so hopefully I'm on the right road.

thanks.

that's why I'm so nervous about the script I'm working on now because that's the one he wants to see. That's why I've been asking you all those questions and probably the reason I've been blocked for so long because I'm nervous as hell, he didn't give me a deadline or anything so I think everything will workout ok.

Writing screenplays, eh? im jealous. Im trying to get a few more short stories under my belt before owrking on any.

I had one completely outlined last year, was 16 pages long just in outline form.

Then my work computer crashed and i had to replace the harddrive. lost everything but an excel spreadsheet with ideas. felt like i lost a limb.

I hope my stories were able to help crack your writer's block. i know how awful that can be.

Im the opposite, anything longer than 30 pages is too godamn much. i will never be a novelist, and i am perfectly cool with that. plus, plent y of short stories have been made into movies.

everything I write looks like ''IT'' mostly because I describe the hell outta everything to both set the scene and leave the possibility of adapting it to a novel. I end up writing something about 500 pages then editing it down to about 250 and if the novel thing ever comes up I'll go back to the original copy and write it over completely into novel form.Since the sixth grade I've written about 50 but the ones from the time I was 16 on back are pretty bad.

I am actually very surprised how sophisticated i was when i was younger when i go over my older stuff. A lot of the subject matter was a bit more childish than i would write now, and i did a LOT more fantasy, but i have been pretty happy with my abilities all along.

And i havent had a bad review yet.

I love my wife, she offers good criticism. "Justice" will probably be longer in a little while. i thought it felt rushed, especially in the middle, and my wife agreed, so there will be more character developement, but the core of the story will stay the ssame, especially the beginning and end :)

the stuff I did when I was younger isn't nearly as good as it is now because back then it was just a hobby because I was more into playing football and not to toot my own horn but I was a good football player and that's what I wanted to do with my life but I'm 5'8 or 5'9 and I run a 4.4 40 yard dash so I came to terms with the fact I wasn't going to make it in the NFL unless I invoked Walter Payton's spirit so I got serious about writing.Since then I've only gotten one bad review from my teacher, and I also have one person who gives me constructive criticism.
