Turistas
I had been waiting to see this for a long time. Maybe the wait built up expectations far to high. I thought it was rather shite, too many holes, terrible score and really no edge to it what so ever. Just cheap gore. And where where all the tits and sex, from what I had heard you guys saying it was overdone with it... there was hardly any in the unrated version??? 5/10 |

Also, Wrong Turn, for what I thought was the first time, but then realized it wasn't when I saw the inbred hillbillies (i just never knew the name of the movie). The ending was lame as hell, but I liked it. |
28 Weeks Later, and Planet Terror.

Glad I found a like mind. ... Tonight I saw the first two installments of the Final Destination movies for the first time. Final Destination http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...onogrl/55m.jpg Fantastic concept and some of the greatest death scenes that I have seen in a movie (as a matter of fact, the Death Scene thread inspired me rent it)... The idea of DEATH having a plan (versus Fate or Life) was more gothic and chilling that the whimsical sort of movies that pontificate on the Butterfly Effect. Definitely a fun teenage slaughter fest. I give it a solid B. Final Destination 2 http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...ogrl/55m-1.jpg meh. I didn't mind the perpetuation of the concept. I actually thought that this film tied into the first one pretty well (usually when sequels tie into originals, there are contrived and corny bits, but Final Destination 2 handled it pretty well). The death scenes were not particularly memorable, though the initial "Vision" was pretty horrific (I actually enjoyed it better than the initial "Vision" of the first movie), but that was it. I was actually bored throughout most of it. C-/C ... As if those weren't enough, my boyfriend and I rounded the evening off with... 1408 http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...ogrl/55m-2.jpg Uhm. The first part of the movie was pretty impressive - the lead-up (Samuel L Jackson), the building of John Cusak's character, the introduction of the room. VERY impressive. Visually stunning. Definitely creepy. Used the restriction of the single setting and single actor very effectively. HOWEVER The middle to latter half of the movie definitely embodied all that I do NOT like about Stephen King (and I do LIKE him - I just recognize his flaws as a writer)... The tragic flawed hero being tortured and seeking redemption... The concept of evil beyond... All... I thought that it dragged on absolutely unnecessarily. I was VERY disappointed. But I liked it better than Final Destination 2. C perhaps. |
