^^ not a fan of the director's cut? I love/hate elements of both versions. Kick ass flick either way. I've got both cuts on VHS and it was pretty amazing seeing the director's cut on the big screen a few times. That movie needs to be BIG and LOUD!

I just got thru with The New York Ripper...... and it was an amazing bloodthirsty sleazefest! My favorite Fulci flick. They don't make 'em like this anymore.

Dark Heritage

Though this is not a good film by any stretch of the imagination, it's been one of my favourites ever since I saw it about a year ago. The script is laughably bad, and the actors only make it worse. The lead actor, Mark LaCour, played one of the stupidest leading males I've ever seen in a horror movie: No matter what anyone said, his response of choice was "So, what does that have to do with us?". After awhile, you can almost predict what's going to come out of his mouth. As bad as the script and actors are however, this film does have some redeeming qualities. The silent, sepia-toned dream sequence about half-way through the film is actually very creepy and well done. In fact, I think the entire film would have been better if it was done like this scene. Though it usually seems that he's not sure how to work a camera, director David McCormick does know how to create atmosphere. The tunnel scene was very well done, claustrophobic and almost creepy. The ending was beyond obvious, but I still think it was pretty good. Last but not least, the Dansen clan themselves. Though many will disagree, I though these creatures were great. Once again I refer to the tunnel scene, the first time we see a Dansen-creature is an incredibly cool shot. Overall I recommend checking this out, providing you don't mind some very bad actors and a fairly low-quality DVD. Why do I say the DVD is low-quality? On the menu screen...the misspelled the title! Oh well...

Nekromantik
The Craft
House of the Dead

That's actualy a pretty fun film, I though. Not very good, obviously, but still pretty good for a laugh/some mindless action.

joshaube 03-31-2006 02:11 PM

Hehe, I heard House of the Dead was horrible, but I want to see it for that single fact. Then, perhaps in the future, I'll have something to compare other terrible movies to.

its definately worth seeing just to witness such a pure exercise in incompetence ....

i just wish i hadnt seen it at a theatre - let alone dragged friends to it.

The_Return 03-31-2006 02:31 PM

Id rather watch it with some friends...it's great to watch a bad movie with some buddies so you can rip them apart:p

A word of warning: Though this is by all means and awful film, dont go in expecting the biggest pile of shit you've ever seen. It's bad in a so-bad-it's-good kind of way, in my opinion. Lots of people would argue the contray though...

Jacob Singer 03-31-2006 02:42 PM

Finally I could find "Escape from NY" special US edition . Here in Spain is not edited yet on dvd so I've got it recorded it from TV in a old vhs...now I can throw it to the dump!!!! So tonight I will see it again....my name is Plissken, you know?

Good Night, and Good Luck

When I watch a film, I often watch it more than just to be entertained. I like to learn from film as well, and this fulfills both needs very well. Perhaps it loses some of it's entertainment factor by staying so close to the source material, however that doesnt detract too much. For one such as myself with very little prior knowledge of the subject matter, the film is rather confusing at first. After the first half hour or so though, the plot sucks you in and you wont want to blink. Strathairn skillfully heads up a wholly incredible cast, backed up by such strong supporting actors as Ray Wise, Frank Langella, and even director George Clooney himself. Though Clooney is great on both sides of the camera, in this film he really shines behind it. The beautiful cinamatography blew me away, though I am a sucker for back and white. Overall, this film does drag in parts but is completly worth it. Should have one at least one or two Oscars.

Yellow Jacket 03-31-2006 09:09 PM

I just finished watching Freddy vs. Jason for about the 20th time (yes, I have that kind of time). I haven't really watched any movies this week besides King Kong and 2001 Maniacs. I'm sad to admit that. But, I think I'll catch up on my movie viewing this weekend. Starting shortly tonight.

bloodrayne 03-31-2006 09:48 PM

Cut...With molly Ringwald....It wasn't terrible...Was worth watching

Firestarter 2....Really long movie, but good stuff...I actually loved it...not bad for a sequel...

Frankenfish...Oh well, it was better than Anaconda...Although it reminded me a LOT of Anaconda.....To be honest, I actually really liked this movie

The Last Horror Movie...A Fangoria movie...And it was AWESOME...The main guy has GOT to be a Scorpio...Watch this one and you will know EXACTLY what I mean...His attitude, the way he thinks (completely analytical and logical), the things he does and the way he does them, the questions he asks...I swear, I love this guy:cool: :D

Dark Town...HUGE disappointment...Seriously...There really isn't any reason at all to watch this piece of crap...Not even good gore....And you guys know that I'll give pretty much ANYTHING a fighting chance...This one loses all the way around...Blecch...

Hell's Highway...OMG, it was SOO bad...see above^^^

Tower Of Blood...A few good kill scenes...But, overall a pretty terrible movie...

Death Valley 2: Return Of Bloody Bill.....For some reason, I absolutely LOVE this movie...Awesome gore, cool storyline...It was so much better than I thought it was gonna be...It makes up for the few terrible ones here and there, that I keep ending up with....If I didn't try out some of the ones that SEEMED like they could potentially be terrible, I would never run into the good surprises like this one....Glad I didn't pass over it and miss out:)

I enjoyed this one. Pretty underated slasher that had some nice touches. I like how the villain looked in this one.
Cut was kinda like a Aussie Valentine which I dug almost soley for the villain (I thought the bleeding nose thing was a great touch).
Cut needed a little more nastiness (as did Valentine and Scream) and NY Ripper style gore in my opinion. Both sleepers distined for some cult status. But then again its cool to hate slashers especially modern ones.

Thorns_demon 04-01-2006 12:49 AM

Killer party, god could the ghost be even more scary, hahaha, damn bad movie, nothing happend, the only thing I liked is when the college girl gets haunted, I mean like the exorsist, that was so funny.

AsherAtori 04-01-2006 02:07 AM

The first Puppet Master and Sleepwalkers. I love Puppet Master mainly because I'm fond of the puppets but Sleepwalkers was horrible. That movie had a lot of potential and just didn't deliver.

Almost bought that one on two occasions...guess Im glad I didnt.

Anyway, I just wanted to get this review up before I slip into my alter ego:

Return of the Fly

In my opinion, The Fly was one of Mr. Price's weakest roles. It was a pretty good movie on it's other merits, however he simply wasnt at his best. Reviving his character in this mediocre sequel didnt help much either. Dont get me wrong, I enjoyed the film, but it's not hard to tell that it was made purely to cash in on the original's success. The biggest indicator of this is the plot, which is contrived and hard to believe. I dont mean the science-fiction parts were hard to believe; they made just as much sence as ever. The unbeliveable part was how poor ol' Philipe becomes "the Fly". Other than the derivative plot, this is a bit better than most cheesy sci-fi/horror flicks from the era. Though, as Ive said, it's far from his best role, Price's presence is what elevates this to a higher level. The effects were good for the time as well, especially the guinea-pig/man. The hands on the guinea-pig looked pretty bad, but the guy looked great! The fly suit was better in the original, the head grew about 5 times as big for this! There are also some horribly cheesy lines, my personal favourite being "He may have the murderous brain of a fly!". Overall this isnt a bad film if you're into this kind of movie, but it's flawed and not as good as the original.
