My last seen were:

- Hellraiser

- Reservoir Dogs

- The Devil's Rejects

- Return of the Living Dead

I've seen all of these numerous times, except for Reservoir Dogs, which I thought was very good. Easily my favorite Tarintino movie.

Deep Rising

I have no clue how Stephen Sommers got a job after this putred mess. Nothing was right in this movie. Everything fell off of the boat and sunk to the bottom of the ocean (sorry for the pun). The directing was off-key, and the camera angles were basically the same the whole movie. I don't remember ever seeing any special loops or angles in this movie whatsoever. I will admit that for a Disney flick (yes, it was distributed by Disney), it was pretty bloody. This doesn't mean the goreaholics are getting a filler. Besides the skeleton room scene and the melting face scene, there wasn't too much blood or gore. But, like I said, it was surprising to see some. The acting wasn't good at all. Even Famke Jannsen didn't do a good job. Everybody was just there for their paychecks. And I hope it was a big one. Because I wouldn't have gone for it without some big bucks involved. All in all, Deep Rising sunk lower than the bottom of the ocean. It sunk the whole way down to Hell. Poor Satan!

Wolf

I can appreciate this movie for what it tried to do. It tried to make An American Werewolf in London for the Murder She Wrote old-timers and fans. If it wasn't for Jack Nicholson's incredible performance, all would've been lost here. Now, I can see how people would be interested in this movie. It builds up the characters most of the movie, it gets into the story pretty quickly, and Nicholson gets bit by the werewolf in the first two minutes of the film. But, the pacing was too slow for me. The directing was a nice touch, but only for the beautiful scenery the director got to show us, such as the full moon being covered up by the clouds. Besides the directing and Nicholson's performance, I don't think I could've made it through Wolf.

i loved Deep Rising ..
it was the only Sommers movie i liked.
i thought it was a fun action flick ...

*********SPOILERS************
only 1 problem .. they should have let the asian
gal live - she's a doll ... and kill of her whiney boyfriend instead.
Sommers must like that guy though because he played an even more irritating asshole in The Mummy.

I found an old VHS a couple days ago thathad some movies I taped off TV a year or two back. Deep Rising was one, along with The Mask and 30 Years to Life. I think I might pop that in tonight, because as I recall I enjoyed Deep Rising...thanks for putting it in my head YJ!

1) Stay Alive. Besides like the fact that alot of the facts about countess Elizabeth Bathory were off, It was a pretty decent movie.

2) The Hills Have Eyes. It was hillarious. I'm almost positive it wasn't supposed to be, but it was. "
Wow, now this is hillarious itself, and personally, I don't think it was meant to be...

You thought Stay Alive was good? You thought the only thing off was the facts about Elizabeth Bathory? I'm pretty sure you're off.

Let us examine the details. First, it's PG13/14, so they have to cover up anything remotely gorey, so that leaves a lot of pointless killings they can't really show, except for a rendered character and pershaps a split-second frame or two.

Second, we are to be terrified by rendered characters. The dead girls, come on. Even in the real world, they appear 3D. I would be terrified of that, personally... >_>

Third, the big "suspense" trick is the controller's virbation. Hearing it is suppose to scare us, make us wonder whats going to happen next. But it fails horribly. HORRIBLY. It's quite funny, actually.

Fourth, they can't even execute what pretty much all teen flicks do. Give us at least one pteey jump. I don't jump usually, but atleast one person in my theatre does. Did anyone in this film? No. No screams, no jumps, no "oh jesus!". NOTHING. It was bad editing, because what was meant to be a fast movement for us to jump upon viewing was played out slow, so you could basically assume what was going to happen.

Fifth, the fact Elizabeth Bathory came back in a video game is simply retarded. I'm sorry, but it is. How could anyone think that even remotely scary, or even probable. Hell, if I was a ghost, I wouldn't come back in a PS2 game, even if I could up my pixel count.

Sixth, the whole gamer subculture was played out all wrong. It's like the writer didn't even know any gamers. Sure, it was done right in some aspects, but there was little knowledge.

Seventh... why the hell was the whole city empty? I only saw a few extras, and the cast. It was deserted, quiet, lifeless. BORING. It was the characters running around alone, place to place, without encountering anyone but 3D-characters.

Eighth. The male lead was suspected, expecially after the guy had been run over by the horse-and-carriage. Because of know how probable that is. I sure have a carriage to just dispose of at will. Throw it in the back of my pocket and whip it out whenever I need someone dead. Yeah.

Ninth, many pointless scenes that have no relevence to the storyline. Te copy dies in the game, in some old chair. A) He played the game for about 15-30s and got past the gravyard that quickly? HELLO. B) He didn't die IRL after that, did I miss something?

Tenth. They tried to give character developement, but who were they kidding. Oooh, flashbacks of a kid being afraid of fire, only to have to face his fears in the final moment. Wow. That's just amazing writing. AMAZING.

Eleventh. (post fucked up, there was point here.)

Twelfth. The film quality sucked ass, major ass. The dark scenes were grainy, washed out, and the rest were fine. It's like they used about a dozen types of film and tried to pass it off as a whole. The quality ranged from low-budget to decent. Who knows what went wrong here.

Thirteenth. What else could go wrong?

Dark City...You guys were right...I loved it.....And, I wouldn't even have WATCHED it, if it wasn't for the encouragement here at the forum:)

Larvae...I was just looking for a cheesy creature-type flick...I figured it would be along the lines of Squirm or Creepy Crawlers....But, this one was actually a really good movie...*is impressed AND surprised*

Head Of The Family...Full Moon just as it began its downturn...

Never seen it, theres no gore. The more red and pink the better.

Posher778 03-28-2006 06:32 PM

If you haven't seen it, then how the hell do you know if there's gore or not. Gore doesn't matter in gigantic lizard movies anyway. Smashing buildings and cars man!

flesheater 03-28-2006 07:50 PM

Im not into those type oh movies but ive seen pieces here and there i get bored. Im attracted more to the gory stuff.

I haven't seen that movie since the early 1990's and just recently discovered it's being re-released on DVD for around $15 or so. Really cheesy, but that's pretty much what a lot of the low budget horror movies relied on. :p

Futurama .. 1st 2 episodes.

pretty funny show .. love the theme music too

Red Eye.
It wasn't great...but I thought it was ok.
Fun to see the killer get fucked up in a variety of ways, as per typical Craven style...interesting to see his take on a thriller of this kind even with it's $5 script. Again, not great, but I don't think it's worth all the anti-hype thats been going on.

2001 Maniacs

Human flesh, mmm mmm good! And so is 2001 Maniacs! Well, it's not the best thing that I've swallowed (I see the jokes coming already), but it does get the job done! And when you have Robert Englund and Lin Shaye in the same movie as cannibals, it's hard to go wrong. Let me start with the...

Positives

-Great amount of gore
-Acting was better than expected (well, from the youngsters that is)
-Blowjob good kills
-Nice setting

Negatives
-Weak Beginning
-Weak Ending
-Ending dragged on too long
-Some of the cast could've been re-cast
-Racial slurs are a many

Hmm, I should just do my reviews this way from now on. Anyway, 2001 Maniacs has gut-wrenching and tittie-juggling middle, but a weak-ass beginning and middle. The gore does make up for that, along with the amazing kills! And Robert Englund and Lin Shaye rocked the house, as usual!

3 and a half stars out of 5

I'm watching King Kong (2005) right now. When I'm finished, I'll write my review for you guys.

King Kong (2005)

The hype was right! King Kong is hands-down Jackson's best film to date! Turned out a helluva lot better than I thought! Here are the positives and negatives.

Positives

-Great action
-Beautiful CGI-Phenominal acting
-Directing was top-notch
-Great build-up
-Action throughout
-Peter Jackson at his best
-Greta popcorn film
-Good love story
-Ultimate Destruction

Negatives
-The dinosaurs were over-used. I felt like I was watching Jurassic Park at times.

The negative aside, King Kong was a beautifully crafted, heartwarming, action-filled up the yazoo (???), and Jackson's best film to date!

Yeah it was. Hey, I didn't get a good look at that map, was it a map of the island or one of the complexes on the island? I noticed it was shaped like the Dharma logo though... weird.
