Straker 05-26-2010 11:32 AM

This was the toughest and most time consuming challenge yet. Can't say it wouldn't feel like a kick in the balls having it scrapped. I'd rather lose the challenge, but have my teams effort acknowledged, than have the challenge scrapped all together. I know I wouldn't have been able to get this challenge done without a few people in my team putting in some extra time and effort.

newb 05-26-2010 11:40 AM

As a neutral observer of The Battle and also a former participant, I can testify that the challenge in question is one of the toughest of the lot. Just my 2 cents but I think it should be left as is.

now carry on with the slaughter :D

Yes, it is and it's also one of my favorites!...I love this challenge, and the crossword and word search...Ooooh, and the scrambles....and...Hmm, I guess I kinda love ALL of the challenges!...But, I'd say my top 5 are definitely:

1) Crossword
2) Screenshot (this one)
3) Looking for specific items in screenshots (we haven't done that one this time around...yet)
4) Scrambles
5) Word Search

The only one I didn't like was the essay part at the end of the first Battle Royale...But, that was kinda dropped, we didn't do it in the second Battle Royale.

I seriously LOVE this game...And the more 'challenging' a challenge is, the more I like it...I just really, REALLY like to play and compete :)

Oh...and I gotta say it one more time...

My team is AWESOME!

ChronoGrl 05-26-2010 12:13 PM

Oh, man, I loooooooooooooooooove the essays (says the former English major) - I was TOTALLY bummed that they were done away with last year - That was my favorite part of the first one (and the reason why I loved HDC Idol so much)...

After that I'd say I like the Crossword a lot... I have a tough time with word searches and scrambles, but still enjoy them in the name of Battle Royale.

The screen capture challenge is by far the hardest and most challenging, but I love it because most of these movies I haven't seen so it gets me to watch them. I've struggled with it in the past, but I think it's a good solid challenge.

And it's true - DEMON WRAITHS RULE

Zero 05-26-2010 12:27 PM

V's game - V's rules.

He's put in insane work into this and while I can honestly say i had no memory of the 'different shots' part - I respect his imagination and effort. So - you'll hear no more complaints from the monkey.

ferretchucker 05-26-2010 01:51 PM

I don't see the point in the challenge being scrapped, none of us are saying we want it to be that way. But I have to agree with Missmacabre, I just read the rules and follow them. Heck, for all we knew you could have decided to make it a little easier this year. We followed the listed rules for the Battle Royale 3 challenge 9, and so the rules of Battle Royale 1 challenge 11 shouldn't also automatically be drafted in from our own memories. And there isn't always time to get points clarified, especially ones like this. Getting the answers in fast means the difference between winning and losing.

I know at the end of the day this is just a game, albeit a very fun and imaginitive one, but it's one that we have not broken the rules off and whilst it may cause some debate there's no need to scrap it! If arguments over games were that bad then Monopoly would be outlawed by now and Ol' Moneybags would be someone's bitch in the showers as we speak.

The way I see it is, V had to (but shouldn't have had to) point out the fact that 1 person shouldn't do all of the work, while everyone else just copies and sends in that person's answers...The ONLY reason someone should HAVE to say "use your own photobucket"...or..."make sure the shots look different"...is so that we could at least PRETEND that people who sign on to play the game, are actually trying to PLAY THE GAME

Are you missing this integral part of the overall picture?

It would be nice if all of the people who expect someone else to play the game for them, would just refrain from signing on...

bwind22 05-26-2010 09:23 PM

I guess the huge difference of opinion some of us have is that the challenges are the fun part of the game. The fun in a game like this for me comes from the socialization, strategizing and hunting each other (all of which I dont have time for either.) The challenges are just a means to an end... A way to determine who gets to do what type of strategizing and who hunts who. I don't find it even remotely fun to check in and find a challenge that's going to require hours out of my life just to get to the part I do enjoy.

So I have a solution...

Everyone else can be declared the winner of the challenge since they all seem to have put in effort and I'll go into the hunting zone unarmed where everyone can just kill me this week (since I put in no effort and it still took me 20 minutes.) If the challenges are gonna be this time-consuming all the way throughout the game, I'm not gonna have time to play once it becomes individual anyway.

But that's the thing, in the challenges, this one in particular, as MM said there were countless messages over both facebook and PMs between the whole group. Near enough everybody found at least one picture and whilst some may have put in a bit more work than others we still did it. I went onto youtube, sifted through a few videos til I found that goat scene, printscreened it and saved it into paint. Whilst that wasn't the final one we used because one of better quality was found, I still put the effort in as did so many others.

All I'm saying is, like in Posher's thread about that scum family picketing the funeral, none of the listed rules were broken.

roshiq 05-27-2010 04:17 AM

Why...so...serious?

Even if you win, the chainer is surely going to hunt one of you down badly...lately "losers" are wining actually over the "winners" at the hunting zone:D

I actually put a lot of time into this challenge, a lot more time than I had to spare really. Except for one, which I wasn't willing to download the movie for, I actually did find them all on my own. But I used the others my team found of better quality because I didn't realize it was against the rules not to. And that's fine, I lose points. BUT, I have to say, I don't have the kind of time to spend on this game for it to not even count. That's precious time to me. As it has been pointed out, there WAS communication between our team. We DID work together. I was having fun, but to be honest........I'd rather just be killed off now. The implication that I didn't put the time or effort in on this challenge, well, let's just say I have enough stress in my life without adding even a little more because of something that's supposed to be fun. And I am not saying anything against anyone for having differing opinions, or against V for the awesome job he does here. :)

FreddyMyers 05-27-2010 09:06 AM

I just want to go back to killing everybody......

ferretchucker 05-27-2010 09:26 AM

I think a free for all in the grounds is what's needed to liven up everybody's spirits...

FreddyMyers 05-27-2010 11:22 AM

im gonna hunt YOU ferrett.....no real reason.....just to stir things up.
So you better watch out.

ferretchucker 05-27-2010 12:57 PM

Oh you wait! You're an illegitimate love child of two horror icons...I will put an end to your abomination of a life.

_____V_____ 05-27-2010 08:48 PM

Everyone scores 30 points for their efforts in this Challenge.

But the Challenge itself and its penalty stands scratched.

I have not prepared the next Challenge. It will be posted sometime within the next 24 hours.

ferretchucker 05-28-2010 03:28 AM

Thanks V. Looking forward to the next one! My trigger finger is feeling a bit left out.

FIRST UPDATE

FOUR entries in so far - all of them from the LYCANS!

Wake up, Demonwraiths. Quick!

ChronoGrl 05-29-2010 06:08 PM

We're mostly wondering if you meant "on screen kills" or "total kills that supposedly happened during the course of the film, i.e. kills we saw vs. kills we saw + offscreen kills...

_____V_____ 05-29-2010 09:07 PM

Total. The complete Body Count of the films.

Shouldn't be a problem to find them all. :)

ferretchucker 05-30-2010 02:55 AM

That's what I like to see, some questions being asked to clarify! :D

Good work, Chrono.

_____V_____ 05-30-2010 03:00 AM

Think I misread a bit of what Chrono asked above, and this needs a bit of further explanation.

Off-screen kills, also called Miscellaneous or Implied/Mentioned kills, as they are more commonly called, don't count. We are going by the number of on-screen kills only.

So if a film has 20 on-screen kills and 30 off-screen kills, the body count of the film will be 20.

Hope that clarifies it fully.

roshiq 05-30-2010 03:09 AM

I have another one...:)

Do we need to consider all the on screen body counts including animal killing or only human body counts?

Actually it's getting interesting to see how some simple questions turning into more complex ones:D

_____V_____ 05-30-2010 03:27 AM

All onscreen body counts.

ChronoGrl 05-30-2010 07:13 AM

THE REWARD CHAMBER

The FIRST ALL-CORRECT ENTRY I received was from...the LYCAN named FREAK!!

He wins a trip to the Reward Chamber before the Hunting Zone outing begins.

Freak, you have THREE envelopes in front of you - labelled Una, Dos, Tries.

You may select any TWO for yourself, and the contents inside them will be yours to keep FOREVER!

That's not all.

All three envelopes are parts of a secret permutation and combination. If you correctly guess the hidden combination of TWO envelopes in your choice PM to me, it will reveal a FOURTH hidden envelope!

The contents of THAT hidden envelope will be revealed by me if you hit upon the correct combo.

The Penalty is coming up shortly...

_____V_____ 05-31-2010 08:53 AM

HDC BATTLE ROYALE III - THE HUNTING SEASON ZONE - ROUND SEVEN OF HUNTING

ALL the Lycans have been set free inside The Hunting Season Zone UNARMED!

Except one.

Demonwraiths, behold your weapon...

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...t_launcher.jpg

A ROCKET LAUNCHER, WITH ONE ROCKET EACH!

Each rocket is capable of causing a wound which would require 4 HPs to heal.

And also,

Someone else will be joining all of you in the hunt.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5..._aaron-now.gif

THE CHAINER!

He will be waiting for you, Demonwraiths.

The entire Hunting Zone is divided into THREE big sectors - 1, 2 & 3. You have to mention which section you will be in when you are doing your hunting.

NOT MORE THAN THREE CONTESTANTS CAN BE IN THE SAME SECTION AT THE SAME TIME! Be mindful.

Wraiths, PM me who your target (or targets) will be in the Hunting Zone. Also mention the sector where you will be when you are doing your hunting.

The failure to use even a single Rocket, or if more than THREE Hunters end up in the SAME section, will mean each Demonwraith will be shot SEVEN TIMES by the Snipers in the Watchtowers!!

You all have until Wednesday, NOON EST, to complete your hunting.

P.S. - MissMacabre is asked to turn in her Chainsaw before the Hunting Zone outing. However, she carries her BONUS SHOT with her into the ZONE!

I ALSO DECLARE THE GIFTING OF HEALTH PACKS RULE AS OPEN!!!

Good luck all.
