(can only find small images of these for some reason...) Clive Barker's Pinhead. I discovered a new-ish comic shop in town called 'Nerd Haven'. I may have binged. I also got some Batman Detective series of comics that I just love. I'm going to blow a lot of money here I just know it. |
Teddy Scares. I don't usually read comics, but this was a gift. Very entertaining.

DC Universe - Rebirth.
Wow...finally they're doing away with the new 52 stuff...or at least back-seating it. WALLY WEST. The guy that I grew up with as the flash of the 90's, was taken away when the NEW 52/Flashpoint stuff happens, and now, he's back. Great comic through and through and some very emotional stuff. Looking forward to where DC is going for the first time in a while now... |

However some books were great. Specifically Batman, Wonder Woman, Swamp Thing and Animal Man! I'm currently reading Batman Eternal. It's a fun, fast paced Bat family book. |
Oh yeah, I read through Batman Eternal a while back - a really excellent Batman title, stood well on it's own outside the DCU as per most of the Bat titles.
Very well written, just an overall really satisfactory story. The whole "New 52" thing honestly pissed me off just about as much as the post "Brand new Day" Spider-Man titles (I think they're only just regaining their footing now, after this long) The Batman and Green Lantern stuff, which largely continued their pre-52 storylines, were in my mind just about the only stuff worth reading. Everything else just became like generic. The characters. The storylines. All so bland. Erasing some of my favourite teams and characters was just a kick in the balls. Clearly the whole project didn't play out like they wanted, which is why we have what I'll refer to as the REAL DCU coming back into play. So have you read DC rebirth through? If so...Damn, just that Barry/Wally scene huh?...very few times has a comic made me feel that way. Pure "from my childhood/teens" stuff coming back together in such a cool way...and how they took things right to the edge like that. Amazing. Not to mention the giant GIANT reveal at the end. |
Yeah.
The reveal at the end of Rebirth was terrific. Also read Batman , Superman, Green Lanterns and Green Arrow rebirth. Batman is my favourite character but Batman Rebrth didn't really excite me that much. Superman Rebirth was interesting. Haven't read any Superman since Grant Morrison's Action Comics run so I was kinda confused but very intrigued. Green Lanterns Rebirth showed some promise. Hope it's good going forward. Green Arrow Rebirth was awesome. Green Arrow is my second favourite after Batman and I felt like he suffered from the direction of the new 52., apart from Jeff Lemires terrific run his series has been wonky. However now in Green Arrow Rebirth I feel like the character is back on track. Can't wait to read more rebirth issues and then the new #1s. Thanks to DCs Rebirth and Marvels Civil War 2 stating off strong, it's a good time to be a comic fan! |
I don't remember I read any comic even before. I know a lot of you seem to enjoy them pretty much but in my case I am not a fan. My brother has so many of them but I didn't even dare to read.

I'm not really a fan of reading comics, but i did like Johnny the Homicidal Manic, Squee!,and I Feel Sick by Jhonen Vasquez

I'm getting ready to read an issue of Afterlife with Archie that's supposed to be good. I'll post later if it is or not.
|
Recently finished Batman: Hush and Batman: Death of the Family.
Both are great, but I liked DoF a bit more. |
Afterlife with Archie #6
A pretty good comic for horror fans. I would give it about an 8 or so out of 10. Here's a preview for those interested in getting it. http://www.cbr.com/afterlife-with-archie-6/ I believe it's only a one shot. Maybe they will have a continuation story in the future though. |
Latest "Walking Dead".
This comic really needs to "thin the herd". Seriously. I've read and enjoyed it from the beginning but these days when I read it, I don't know who about half the characters even are. Short attention span is also in play, don't get me wrong...but yeah, I think this is an issue. |
My Little Pony Friends Forever #13
|
From Hell. Pretty Interesting so far
|
The Clone Conspiracy #3 of 5.
Well, shit. |

------ I picked up the first issue of R.L. Stine's new run on Man Thing. It's really pretty awful, hahaha. Also picking through the first volume of Harrow County. Story is so far pretty interesting, the art is pretty fantastic as well. |

Ordered a lot of magazines from CREEPY CLASSICS, mostly MIDNIGHT MARQUEE, early CASTLE OF FRANKENSTEIN, MONSTER BASH and FAMOUS MONSTERS OF FILMLAND from 1975-76 era, as well as a good copy of CREEPY #52. Really liked this when pre-Teen and it still holds up and also closes the gap in my collection.

Waxwork Records came out with a comic and record bundle. I'm going to get that soon.
|
If I was getting into reading horror comics, what would you suggest me reading first. I hope I'd be able to find it on amazon or in a book store.
I hope it's okay that I'm posting here. =) |

Check the online comic shops like MidtownComics and MyComicShop. You should be able to sort by horror comics. |
Going through my mountain of oldies and finding the vintage Spider-Man ones still hold up quite nicely.
|
Vintage of what years?
I collect things here and there. |
Been getting thru The Boys not sure why I haven't picked it up before now.
The Eibon Press adaption of Maniac was great. Looking forward to my copy of Bottomfeeder to arrive! |

Got back from CHILLER THEATRE this past weekend. More MONSTER BASH magazines from Ron Adam's CREEPY CLASSICS and several EERIE/CREEPY back issues which are ones I was looking for to fill the gaps in my collection. |
Started reading "Paper Girls".
By Brian K Vaughan, writer of... One of my favourites - Y The Last Man One I couldn't really get into but a lot seem to love - Ex Machina One that I thought looked very interesting but not my style - Saga One that I loved in every way - The original run of the "Runaways" title. So I went into this with at least the expectation that I'd be seeing a bit of a labour of love. I hold BKV in a similar light to the Luna Bros...they all write things that I either like or can at least see WHY people like them. I didn't realise the whole series was finished by the time I read issue #1, so I've been binge reading a little bit, I'm up to about issue #8 now. It's set, or at least starts in 1988...as an 80's kid myself, I dig the throwback...and they handle the era, the "personality" of the era and their referencing with grace. I don't have this happen much any more - but this comic grabbed me. By the end of issue #1 I knew it was one I wanted to keep reading and see through. Without spoiling anything I can say that it's a story of four young girls that deliver papers, who kind of team up on their late night runs...and then, weirdness happens. A lot of weirdness. Bullies. Aliens. Maybe NOT aliens. Sci fi mystery. A conspiracy. A bit of violence for good measure. Time travel, a displaced person, twists and turns and changes. It's like...I want to say more, something to clear up what's going to just look like a jumble of words...but I really don't want to risk spoiling much of anything for those that would read it. Grab a collected edition if you can. I don't see this one disappointing many people. |
That sounds like a great book! I never read superhero comics, but Paper Girls sounds like the sort of thing I like.
It's kinda old now, but I enjoy Revival. Been making my way through that, and trying to track down every issue of Providence, which is hard if you want to stick to B&M stores. I also try to get everything Eric Powell does. I loved The Goon, but now I follow Hillbilly. Wytches is good, but I've only read the first volume. I need to get the 2nd one, eventually. |
Paper Girls is excellent.
Just got through with Ringside which I enjoyed a lot. The art was pretty average I thought but the story made up for it. Ice Cream Man has been a pretty good horror anthology styled comic. Binged out on Sex Criminals... pretty hooked on it. Kill Or Be Killed is still going great. My favourite comic at the moment. Brubaker is a great writer. Deathstroke vs Batman (Deathstroke #30) has started out pretty well. |
I never really read comics and I'm not a fan of anything having to do with superheroes (movies, shows or video games). Personally I think that stuff is kind of cheesy.

I was wrong - it's actually not finished, still going.
Not that there's anything wrong with "late". I actually envy the fuck out of anyone that's had a whole series pass them by, to read it later on...no breaks. It's like getting to watch a whole show at once. |

Been hitting Detective Comics from #934 onwards... great stuff really digging it. Checking out a lot of the rebirth era stuff Deathstroke, Titans, Suicide Squad.
Issue #1 of She Could Fly was pretty good. Interested to see where it goes with it's themes of mental illness and paranoia. |
Some acquisitions from CREEPY CLASSICS:
MONSTER BASH #7, #8 and #9. Also WEIRD April 1967 and TERROR TALES June 1974/October 1976. Still as outrageous and demented as ever. |
There a lot of comics that go way further capes and trunks over trousers !
Hellblazer : film noir + horror and a "hero" that often loses and ends up killing his friends/lovers Gotham Central : ordinary police in a crazy world with a supervillain from time to time The empty man, Bruning Fields, Locke and Key : only ordinary powerless humans VS evil The Unwritten : the son of a writer triggers supernatural events in places linked to famous novels. An so on and so forth... I would not say that the horror genre is just about slasher movies ;) so comics are not only about Superman and Avengers. (Did not even mention the hero deconstruction in Watchmen or the works of Eisner, Crumley etc.) |
