Might give "sands of time" another go...never really got that far in it, but it seems like a great game, I just have to be a little more patient.
Of course, I've been pondering reinstallation of all the MAME stuff I have too...

Well, I hope you are able to defeat your wife and son and take over the world.

(I just wanted to write that sentence.)

i dont care for games (but i'll still playe them with my kid) that rely on luck - the throw of dice. With Risk there is about 5% strategy involved but everyone learns that within 5 min of playing the game .. after that it's all dice.

there arent many games where you rely solely - or mostly on your brain ..

chess, trivial pursuit ...one or 2 more ?

with risk ... i spend most of my time in amazement at my supernaturally bad luck with the dice.

same here. Its why i hated board games when i was a kid. 50% of the game was me getting shitty roles (or bad cards in sorry), the other 45% was my sister cheating her ass off.

She got the Starwars edition of trivial pursuit one year, though, and after that her ass was mine. i dont think i ever got a questions wrong.

hardly ever play them but i have about 10 or more different versions.

no one will play Silver Screen against me.

Ha! I cant get anyone to play trivial pursuit against me, period. I would imagine it would be the same for most of the people who are regulars here, a lot of us are pop culture databases.

It drives my wife crazy that i can remember that Ned Flanders was black in the first episode of the simpsons, but i cant remember to caall the red cross to see if they will take clothes donations.

Me neither. Wish we could all meet somewhere in the middle for a Trivial Pursuit battle royale! The three of us dads trying to out-nerd each other sounds fucking hilarious to me:)

:D

Which would beg the question, Would the winner really win, or would they be the the biggest loser in the group?

Of course, all of us being married and having kids kind of takes us off the loser list. At least we've all been with women. more than i can say for a lot of my nerd friends from high school.

Evil Dead Regeneration, just finished it actually. Ted Raimi (Sam's brother) did the voice in it for Sam the Deadite

Hell yeah!

Going oldskool again...ripped a DREAMCAST disk full of sega megadrive games onto the pc, hooked up an emulator with a couple control pads, and being playing through a couple of my favourites, namely...
Cannon Fodder & Flashback - the quest for identity.
Both fun, but the latter amazes me, to this day.

Never played either of them.

Despare 02-05-2007 12:35 PM

Flashback was amazing, and Out of This World. As far as Cannon Fodder goes maybe I'll try to find the Jaguar and hook it up now, sounds like fun.

It's nothing spectacular, but it's good for a laugh...and gets pretty damn addictive. Good music, good humour, and (eventually) some pretty challenging missions. Kind've like classic warcraft meets general chaos...

Damn straight...played through both, but I found flashback stayed with me a lot more...Delphine did great things with those two.
For those that haven't played them, picture the old style prince of persia games with better storyline, and sci-fi setting. Only play "out of this world/another world" if you want to be amazingly frustrated, it tends to rely a little more on luck and being frantic. Flashback is a little better paced IMO, and much easier to pick up.
Anyways, romnation.net has all the roms and emulators you'll ever need for those interested in having a look at these great games.

Just put on the master system emulator...played something I had a faint recollection of called "psychic world", pretty terrible game...interesting though.

I was thinking about getting all the oldskool "phantasy star" games and playing through those, now there's some great oldskool rpg goodness.

I thought it was brilliant as far as simplicity went. An RTS suited for consoles with non-stop action and quirky characters. I loved it at the time. :)

Geddy 02-07-2007 02:35 AM

Mario Kart 64.

Angra 02-07-2007 02:24 PM

Started on the old "Gabriel Knight - The beast within".

Seems pretty slow and boring...

That game is so much fun. Especially if you´re more than 1 player. :)

Nah, it's not quite that old, cueball...

Agreed on the 2p fun...battle mode was awesome, but then, once you play crash team racing, it's hard to go back to this one...

Restarted Half-Life 2, since i discovered my computer is capable of running it nicely with High dynamic range lighting and 4x FSAA turned on at 1280x1024.

Amazing what you learn when you just try things out.

ManchestrMorgue 02-13-2007 03:23 AM

Oblivion

Found it pretty cheap the other day so bought it on impulse. Have only played for about an hour or two, so haven't really gotten into it yet. But from what I have seen it looks pretty immersive. Good graphics and a very explorable world.

The movement/combat system is a bit different to what I am used to, so some brain reprogramming required, but it shouldn't take too long.

Yes Oblivion is a great game. Untill you kill the evil lord.

After that you start to wonder what the hell you´re supposed to do now?

I never figured that out...

Scarface is fun as hell without a doubt...Haven't gotten far into Godfather yet but it seems pretty cool so far...

Phalanx 02-13-2007 11:12 PM

Played a bit of Prince of Persia - sands of time...until it pissed me off. I don't know if it's just me or what, but the first (quite early in the game) fight scene against some baddies along with your reanimated "father" is just too fucking hard...what are you supposed to do here? I managed to kill over 20 of the fuckers, and still, STILL I get killed and no sign of progress. See, shit like this pisses me off...an otherwise fun game, fucked up.

Started playing a cool old rpg game called "soleil". So yeah, still with the emulators at the moment.
