Why does everyone feel like they have to like certain movies bc it is a "classic" or whatever?!
You don't have to follow popular opinion (or in the case of this movie, minority opinion), but if you feel genuine distaste for the rape scenes and cold ugliness of the characters and take the daft comedy cops too seriously, then it's unlikely you'll find anything else important about The Last House on the Left.

Like many dubious pleasures, the movie is not so much entertaining as it is morbidly curious - this quality is more than enough for many horror fans (the more jaded the better), but is bound to leave others none-the-wiser about a sadistic double murder and its retribution.

TLHOTL is absolutely a revolting film...I can think of no reason to watch it more than twice. Yet that's why I think it succeeds. Look at the subject matter-rape, power, class struggle/structure, and the parents pushed too far until they finally break. It was meant to be gritty, disgusting and exploititive, and it achieves these goals with flying colors. For that alone, I give it high marks, whereas eye candy like 13 Ghosts(which I didn't think were mind blowing anyway) just makes me bored to tears.

Hey Classic those movie crew people really died I thought you had read some bogus story and here I was making a joke about how bad Manos was and the director offing himself. WOW I dont understand how anyone would kill themselves because of a movie thats pretty dumb. As far as there being 5 worst horror movies hmm let me think ok I am going to get alot of flack on this but I really really thought TCM in 1974 was bad. It really baffles me why some fans enjoy it though. Sometimes I just want to pull my hair when fans say they like it. Jesse James vs. Dracula is pretty bad. Manos of fate and I am going to say Godzilla vs. Megalon and lets not forget BlairWitch Project. One could just list all the Chucky movies but those arnt horror those are comedys right?

Re: worst movies!!

Might not have been the best acting, but Krug was a great villain. Movies should have taken more advantage of carving ones name into their victem's chest while they could still get away with it

This quote really baffles me. What's not to like? TCM is just fucking intense for the last 30 minutes.....no other film comes close to capturing the anxiety I get from watching Leatherface chasing the last girl through the woods and through the house.

Blair Witch Project is not a bad movie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its a very original and great atmospheric piece of independent filmmaking. And Gojira I stated the reasons why I like TCM did you not see them?

You wanna hear the reasons why I like Blair Witch Project?

Blair Witch Project was made to keep you thinking that what you see before yourself is actually the final days of 2 guys and one girls life. THIS.....killed off the teeny bopper crap that was swallowing the 90's by whole. This was giving the movie industry a new look on realistic movies. Its made on almost NO budget, its all about blood, sweat, and tears in this film. Its craftsmanship is amazing, it carries itself off so normally you'd think you weren't watching a horror film, but slowly scene by scene it starts to get tense...you see the madness sorounding these individuals...you see their nerves slowly rising as one by one they start to argue with each other.
I have to admit that this is one of the only films that sent shivers down my spine. That confession scene..you see this individual throwing herself out in front of the camera, you see the terror in her eyes as she looks back and forth, you start to hear her breathing getting higher and higher...you start to realize that she is out of her mind in shock. That final scene is what makes this film a highlight, you hear her screams as she runs around the house, those ear piercing screams that are but ending slowly.....as you see the guy in the corner...just like in the stories....there's a huge moral to this story.......you start taking advantage of the unknown...and YOU become the unknown....

LOL Hi Omen try and understand when I saw TCM the movie just did not seem intense to me it was just a boring movie I went to see TCM in hopes of watching some guy just hack up alot of people and thats not what happens in the movie. I can tell you this much about TCM back in 1974 the people who saw it had 2 opinions about the movie on one hand some say it was great very scary etc. On the other hand you had those who saw it and felt they had been jipped. I was one of the guys who felt jipped let down.

Hi Classic I as you well know was not impressed with Blair Watch Project movie but the Scifi channel was showing a back ground story and history about the Blair Watch and I was very impressed with the Scifi channeles Blair Witch history program imo that ruled but not the BW movie.

Christ, you've got a worryingly common attitude - you mean a horror film didn't exactly, literally conform to its title or reputation?

Heaven forbid you might discover a new horror experience in a film whose power comes from what is suggested rather than what is viscerally shown.

I bet you HATED Blair Witch, right?

people don't feel as though they have to like them they just hear that it's a classic,go and check it out and they realized why it's called a classic and begin to like it themselves.

on the other hand there's people like you who don't like them after they've seen them.
