High Tension - It was a impulse buy, I mean who could pass up a blood soaked woman holding a gore covered cement cutter? I know I can't but the movie itself disappointed me. It started out as a French movie dubbed in English but then became a French movie with English subtitles and then back to a French movie dubbed in English.

Some scenes were really good from a film lovers point of view but in the long run I wish I rented it instead of buying.

Yah, those selfish French bastards.

Next time shape your cinema to fit American audiences.

What are you talking about? My copy of High Tension has subtitles through the entire thing. There's a dub track too if you care for that sort of thing. I don't. Oh wait... you bought some crappy bootleg, didn't you? Ha ha.

***SPOILERS***...kinda, but very vague;)...

It's funny that you mentioned that part...Because I was telling Dustin, with each step she took forward, "Watch...She's going...she's going....she's...*whoosh*....gone"....Who DIDN'T know that was coming?...The only one that kinda took me by surprise was the first one "They're listening"...*whoosh*....But, I knew that dude was dead anyway, as soon as he started talking....What I couldn't figure out was, why would he talk to avoid being HIT, while knowing that NOT talking would keep him from getting KILLED?....I think I'd choose a beating over death pretty much any day...

No, in the R1 special edition it does that by default, some subtitles and some dubbing. One of my friends who saw it said that maybe one of the families spoke something other than French and the visiting girl was the only French one or the other way around. I don't know, there are options to do all dubbed or all subtitled.

"Cube Zero" the prequel to the rest. more of the same.. not bad for a rental. it kinda shows who's pulling the strings behind all the cube action.

Butterfly Effect - Directors Cut.

Interesting, but I liked the original (especially the ending) better.

PeaSoupintheye 03-14-2006 03:11 AM

The Wedding Crashers (uncorked)

Well, I thought this was gonna be funnier than it was, I also thought the film went on a bit too long...don't get me wrong it had one or two moments but for me it was nothing special.

6/10

The Woman In Black

I watched this due to the good reviews I have seen given on this very site and I must join the (W.I.B fan club). This was a traditional ghost story, it wasn't gorey and didn't particularly have many 'jumps' but it was the all round creepy feel that for me made it a special viewing. I liked it - I liked it alot.

7/10

The Mummy (uncut)

I was bored and decided to watch this to fill up a couple of hours. Not bad for an action film with some good effects.

7/10

Wallace & Gromit - The Curse of The Wear Rabbit

What can I say that's not already been said? An Absolute blast! I love these characters, and this film didn't let me down. Check out the hilarious 'Cracking Contraptions scenes - there are 10 on the second disc, they are quality.

10/10

Dead Birds

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by this movie. Some really good jumps in this film and check out the face on the demons - awesome. good Setting which made it a different feel all added to the creepy tense atmosphere. This was much better than I expected.

7.5/10

Coming up

Soft For Digging, Lovers Lane, Haute Tension, Exorcist - Dominion, Envy & Polanski's Oliver twist.

I thought it was an ok movie... for a brainless action flick. Anyway, just watched The Night Evelyn Came Out of the Grave.

Not bad, good ole' Itallian horror, lots of naked ladies running around though.

The Bunker

I've started to watch this on a few different occasions, but for whatever reason I've never gotten the whole way through. Until tonight that is, and I wish I hadn't put it off so long! Though it moves at a very slow pace, it's worth it in the end. There are some very tense and creepy scenes, especially once the soldiers begin to lose their grip on sanity near the end of the film. I do have some gripes with the movie however. First off, I cant quite fathom why a battalion of German soldiers all has British accents. Sure, the actors were good and everything, but you think they would have at least tried to sound German, eh? That aside however, this is a surprisingly tense and atmospheric horror film. Any worries that I may have had about Rob Green directing the Dog Soldiers sequel are officially washed away.

You hadn't heared about that? It's been in production for quite awhile...could be hit or miss judging by the plot. But like I said, after watching The Bunker, Im not worried. Rob Green made a very good, claustrophobic horror film, and I cant see why he wouldnt be able to pull it off again.

He should just make a totally different movie, dog soldiers ended, like it was THE END. Now a prologue... that would be cool.

The Lion King, great voice acting, even Mr. Bean does an excellent job in this animated gem. I was surprised I liked it as much if not more than I did when I first saw it.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind which wasn't bad, I'll probably watch it again but I noticed a LOT during the first viewing so I don't know if it will help.
