Well, then the Bud wouldn't be cheap anymore.

And you'll get no knocking from me.
I'll admit to drinking Miller High Life from time to time. That's the only beer anyone in my family ever drank when I was growing up, so naturally it was the first beer I tried. When I want something cheap, that's the first thing I go for.

Funny you mention Miller.......back in the 70's , ALL my friends drank Miller.....I was the only Bud drinker. I always thought Miller left a nasty aftertaste. But thats just my opinion .

What Game are you waiting for?

I'm actually waiting for 2.

Malta - Denmark

Should be a complete walkover. Denmarks formation and line-up tonight screams ATTACK!!! 0-5. Nothing less. :D

Portugal - Sweden

Should be a good match. I always root for our scandinavian brothers. They'll be getting their hands full tonight, for sure. But Denmark could do the impossible, so...... 2-2.

Disease 03-28-2009 09:38 AM

Ahh, I'm waiting for Scotland and Holland... It's going to be painfull....

Malta - Denmark 0-2 after the first 40 minutes.

Looks like a sucky way to drown your misery.

Don't you have special easter beers at this time?

Sipping one of my all-time favorite Belgian dark ales:

St Bernardus Abt 12

A wonderful Trappist brew:

fortunato 03-29-2009 10:07 PM

Damn, those monks know how to brew good beer.

Enjoying one of these:

http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_VAvDU0GNrO...ochefort10.jpg

And at 11.30% ABV, I'm feeling this one. :D

What else do monks have to do?

damn that's a strong beer. I usually stay 9% or under.

usually :D

Screw nuns.

I've seen it in movies.

And movies never lie. ;)

They also occasionally pray for sinners and such, but that may be just a rumor.

It is awfully good. If you come across it, I'd definitely recommend picking it up.

Haha. Yeah, those monks brew some strong stuff. They'd have to, otherwise risk going crazy in the monastery.

Oh, and by the way Newb:

I found a brewpub north of me that serves the Celebrator Doppelbock on draft.
Which turned out to be incredibly delicious. You can really taste the complexity and smokiness, and it is as smooth as can be going down.

Disease 04-01-2009 02:25 PM

Recomended

Having a Meantime Coffee Porter right now

http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1060/...24dcfa84d9.jpg

A decent porter.
A coffee porter should come across smooth and rich, both of which are lacking in this one. It's definitely too carbonated as well, and the coffee flavor needs a little more depth.
It's worth a try, though, for sure.

fortunato 04-03-2009 03:26 PM

Trying to stock up on some darker brews, so I picked up some Founders Breakfast Stout, Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout, and a bottle of the rare and sought-after Founders Kentucky Breakfast Stout:

http://farm1.static.flickr.com/152/4...3a048c2981.jpg

I haven't tried this yet, but I've heard lots of great things about it. It's brewed with coffee and chocolate, then aged underground for one year in bourbon barrels, which is why it's so hard to get. Founders regular Breakfast Stout is one of my all-time favorites, so I'm looking forward to this one.

Also picked up some Orval Trappist ale:

http://web.mit.edu/~tcarlile/www/ima...g/195orval.jpg

I was lucky enough to find these with some nice age on them, bottled in May of 2007.

I love the dark brews. My favorites are:

Bert Grant's Perfect Porter
Anderson Valley's Barney Flats Oatmeal Stout
Rogue's Shakespeare Stout
Sam Smith's "Taddy" Porter

Me too, me too.
You've picked some incredible brews there, by the way. I haven't tried the Perfect Porter, though. I'll have to keep an eye out for it.

And if you dig dark beers, you must try Founders Breakfast Stout if you can find it. I'm not sure what the distribution is like in LA.
Heck, I'll even send you a bottle if you want.

I went out for dinner last night, had one of these, it's a very smooth choclatey dark ale. I would of had a few more but I stuffed myself with crepes...

I would need about 8 beers in me before I tried anything called "Seaweed Ale".

fortunato 04-05-2009 08:48 PM

Enjoying an Augustijn tripel in an over-sized wine glass.

http://wearedirigibles.com/images/17.jpg

A nice, smooth, fruity Belgian ale. Not one of my favorites, but really enjoyable.

It's brewed here in Scotland.

No would be my guess.

Finally opened my Founders KBS:

http://farm1.static.flickr.com/152/4...3a048c2981.jpg

And wow.

Thick, heavy, creamy...heavy coffee and dark chocolate on the nose, and that's a lot of what you taste. Plus hints of vanilla, bourbon, and roasted malts. Hides its ABV quite well, too, especially considering that this year it's at 11.2%.

Very complex, very intense, and very delicious. No wonder these sell out so fast.

fortunato 04-13-2009 08:47 PM

Having a Dark Horse Perkulator Coffee Doppelbock.

http://nuxx.net/gallery/d/77555-2/IMG_2645.jpg

Not bad. Heavy burnt coffee and roasted malts, finishes pretty bitter. A little too light for a doppelbock, though, especially a coffee doppelbock.
I might try it again, but I'm glad I only got one bottle.

Here's my latest favorite: Balvenie Double Wood 12 yr. Great with a splash of water

http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l2...g/balven12.jpg

And my seasonal summer favorite just came out again. Cream ales really are the best. This is Buffalo Bill's Orange Blossom Cream Ale. Just divine. :)
