1978. The one-two combo of Halloween and Dawn of the Dead is too much.

Bloof 08-08-2017 09:58 AM

1978

Repo'd 08-08-2017 10:16 AM

This is the first time I've had to write the titles out to make a final choice.
By the slightest of margins, 1978.

Roiffalo 08-08-2017 04:43 PM

For me it's down to Screaming Skull vs Jaws 2. I really need to extend my horror viewing... ::sad::

Gotta give it to '78. Halloween is what got me heavy into the horror genre.

1980

This one was a little easier ::big grin::

MichaelMyers 08-10-2017 12:03 PM

1933 for the tie.

Jake.Ashworth 08-10-2017 12:06 PM

1980 for the tie breaker.

Roiffalo 08-10-2017 02:26 PM

This one was MERCILESS. The start of my favorite slasher vs my second favorite classic Monster movie that's just cold blooded! 1980 does have Motel Hell too, that had some epic cannibal lines... UGH but 1933 also has Murders in the Zoo.

Okay time to look at my first two favorites again: Jason may be my favorite slasher, but he wasn't actually IN the first movie, but that plot twist is what made the ending so good. But at the same time a little old lady killed a bunch of fit young men?? And The Invisible man was so freaking awesome that I MAY actually like it more than Wolf Man... It had a good story, it was FUNNY, had beautiful dialogue, and who doesn't love Claude Rains!?

Ok, I surrender to 1933. Claude won me over.

I actually pretty much am thinking like you. There's films I respect from 80', like Shining, Changeling and Fog, but really only Altered States captured my imagination (the Fog did a bit too). On the flipside, 33, King Kong and Invisible Man surpassed my wildest imaginations.
