A large glass of Stowells white zinfandel

Not exactly bursting with flavour but a nice enough drop.

Given the choice I prefer to drink red wine but couldn't be arsed going the shop to stock up so making do with this rose instead.

Gonna pop a Guiness in an hour or so (as soon as I'm done with my next couple of phone meetings.

250th birthday for Guiness this year. Paddys Day going to be that little bit bigger for it.

milktoaste 03-12-2009 04:38 PM

By cracking this seal of The Knot you accept that drinking is never to be taken lightly and promise to act in a responsible fashion-not like some blithering idiot. You promise to drink The Knot straight-up in a proper shot glass, rather than mixing it in some sort of novelty, tiny umbrella, fruit fiasco. And finally, you vow to never drink to anything you are not prepared to go though with. If in any way, you are not willing to abide by these conditions, by all means, please refrain from opening this bottle.

Cheers!!

yikes....I could never drink that. Strictly a beer and occasional wine drinker here.

milktoaste 03-12-2009 04:45 PM

No more than two or three shots for me. I took two doubles and a triple shot on my 28th birthday and had to 'escorted' out of the bar:)

That looks delicious.

I have been working on the biggest shit of a project at work for the last 6 weeks, it finally finished today, I had been working 1 - 9 pm everyday. I was exicted all day with plans of flowing whisky.

But then the boss got me and said can you comein tomorrow at nine am tmrw...

So I downgraded to wine, but fuck it I'm finishing both bottles, they can cop what's left of me tomorrow...

milktoaste 03-12-2009 06:02 PM

For 100 proof it's actually quite tastey. It packs a punch, but has a wonderful caramel after taste. Highly recommended for whiskie drinkers and only around $23 for a 750ml!

Yeah, same here.

maxwellm 03-13-2009 11:41 AM

Sadly, I'm allergic to beer.

Yeah, let that one roll around your head for a moment. Allergic. To. Beer.

I used to love a good Bass or Guinness, XXXX or VB, name your micro-brew. Can't any longer.

Good red wine is good, but it turns my stomach inside-out. Haven't found a good white yet.

So what's a guy to do? Drink hooch, naturally. I tend towards scotches, whiskies and tequila (since it's springtime, I'll begin to favor tequilas, usually a Milagro or Patron, since I'm still nursing a bottle of that.) I'll use Cuervo for margaritas (Rose's lime juice and Grand Mariner instead of triple sec) but am not really excited about drinking it straight.

Scotchwise? Nothing real fancy. Finishing a bottle of 15-year Glenfiddich from Costco of all places. Nice and smoky and caramelly.

Doc Faustus 03-13-2009 11:45 AM

Since Saint Pat's is coming up, I wanted to see if anybody's with me on something: I think Saint Brendan's is a better Irish Cream than Bailey's. Cheaper too. Any thoughts?

Another decent beer, this time from China. Flavour not as strong as the S. Korean beer but very refreshing.

One of the best cavas i've tasted yet. And it's even cheap.

Ive had bottles but the best pic I could be arsed finding was the bar pump handle.

Its a Kentish strong ale, I cant have too many cos the taste gets a bit too much but in moderation its lovely.

Had a relaxing Sunday night enjoying a

Three Floyd's Gumballhead

http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_vbczmt9LYR...umballhead.jpg

Really a nice, drinkable brew

and one of my very favorites,

Ayinger Celebrator Doppelbock

http://www.bottletrek.com/Qstore/upl...r-dopplebo.gif.

I also tried an Augustiner Bräu Maximator,

http://bierkraft.com/ProductImages/A...0Maximator.JPG

but was really disappointed. I won't be drinking any more of those.

fortunato 03-25-2009 02:28 PM

Stopped by my favorite beer store today (Parti-Pak Liquors, it's like an FAO Schwartz for beer lovers) and picked up some good stuff, a couple stouts and some dark Belgian brews:

Goose Island Reserve Bourbon County Stout

St Bernardus Abt 12

http://www.crackedkettle.com/store/i...ardusAbt12.jpg

Trappistes Rochefort 8

Trappistes Rochefort 10

http://www.brewerschoice.net.au/imag...ochefort10.JPG

and Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout

My fridge is happy, and so am I.

Elvis_Christ 03-25-2009 06:13 PM

Tonight I'm enjoying

Trappistes Rochefort 8

http://www.thebeerinme.com/e107_plug...chefort-33.jpg

And wow. Definitely deserves its status as a classic. Creamy, spicy, with hints of breads, coffee, and fruit.

Delicious.

What kind of excuse is that... Those prayer meetings will never pay off anyway...
