Mr Stitch is a Roger Avary film with Rutger Hauer kinda a weird sci-fi Frankenstein rip off.... very strange movie. I'm looking foward to watching it again. I think it was screened as a made-for-TV movie in the states but released theatrically over here.

French Vampire in America is called Innocent Blood in the states.

How can you say that, when it had classic lines like " I ate a bunch of garlic and I just farted. Silent but deadly. "
or
"Unlike other vampires, her fangs are located in her vagina. "

newb 04-28-2005 11:05 AM

here's what i think is a precise summary of his problem.

he's giving Jason Lee lines, with Ben Affleck delivery.

Thats very astute.

urgeok 04-28-2005 12:26 PM

i've kind of had it with VHS ..

i'm sick of the audio quality of the tapes that dont track well and drop in and out of stereo.

Kind of took it for granted .. but now that i've had all this exposure to laser and DVD ...it drives me nuts

filmmaker2 04-28-2005 12:29 PM

I still like tapes because now they're dinosaur material, like vinyl records. And they cost five cents!

"Three Caballeros" had that funny line, "They are really funny guys! Just kill one of them."

No wait, that was "Three Amigos."

Send it all over to me then!!! I still really like VHS maybe just for sentimental value..... (I think its just about will be fazed out over here by the end of the year) I prefer the versions of a lot of horror movies that are over here on VHS compared to DVD (especially because if its on DVD we get the heavily edited UK versions) sometimes DVD is just that little bit too slick. I think I'm gonna be one of the last people to get into DVD. I keep putting off getting a player but its about time I got one. I also like how I can get 10 really rare movies on VHS for about half the price of a DVD.

i was the absolute last guy i knew to have a CD player.. i love vinyl, always will ...

buy the tape medium is just too nasty. I wont get rid of tapes that i havent replaced but damn .. its hard to go back and watch them..

they are dying with age. (especially the old rare ones)

i was just watching a beta tonight ... and even it looked like crap compared to the DVD. Thats one slickness i'm willing to buy into .. plus i love commentaries .. cant get that on a tape ..

Elvis_Christ 04-28-2005 05:58 PM

Tapes are a bit more durable in some respects at least when a video gets damaged its just a line DVDs jump all round the place and miss entire scenes. Those Beta tapes must be fucking ancient!! Its really cool you still have stuff like that I'd scarifice some body parts for shit like that.

urgeok 04-28-2005 06:01 PM

the thing is - that even though i take mint care of my stuff .. tapes begin to 'erode' naturally.
you see it on either ends of the reel first then it works inward .. oxidization .. stretching, etc ..

if you take care of a DVD it'll last longer than our grandchildren ..

Elvis_Christ 04-28-2005 06:12 PM

Could that be solved by regular cleaning of the tapes in those machines the video stores have? I guess streaching can't be helped tho. Yeh I've started to take better care of my film collection I don't lend anything these days cause I'm real sick of people stealing/losing shit..... I hate when people treat you like a video store cause you've got heaps of movies.

filmmaker2 04-30-2005 07:36 AM

I was in a used video store the other day, and I saw a lot of stuff that was marginally interesting, but this is the only thing that literally jumped off the shelf and begged me to buy it. It was five dollars--a little pricey, but...........

I am just about to put it in the machine. Oooohhhh my goodness.

bwind22 04-30-2005 07:47 AM

I recently acquired a house. (My first one!) :)

Along with that, I acquired my first mortgage payment, therefore I probably won't be acquiring any new movies for a while. :(
