there arent a lot of examples i can think of where speech should be supressed ...

but like law - we cant depend on common sense.. very few people have it.

there has to be some measure of protection.

I dont think racist bullshit should be included in free speech just because i dont like to hear it ...
it's because it is wrong on every level ...

Every law has its limits ..

We are all free to drive - if we get our licence.
We are free to smoke .. when we're of age
We're free to do whatever we want with the bounds of the law - Laws set by the majority.

why should free speech be exempt .. carte blanche ?

Uttering a death threat - is that free speech ?
Slander ... is that free speech ?
Joking about having a bomb in a suitcase at the airport ... free speech ?
