You guys like it?

Martin which I really really liked. I loved the way Martin was portrayed as a vampire with nothing supernatural surrounding it. After Martin I watched Darkman which we all know is plenty of fun, especially when Ted's charecter Rick is lifted up into the street through the manhole and of course Bruce's cameo at the end. I think I'll have a small Hennenlotter viewing sometime this week.

cheebacheeba 01-31-2006 07:03 PM

The Jacket.
Definately took inspiration from a few other films...a little gothika, a little 7 monkeys, a little butterfly effect.., but I really liked it all the same, at no point did it feel like it wasn't its own story, and a good movie. Weird storyline, pretty good feel overall, nice resolution, even if a little sad.
I hired it, but will probably be buying this one a little down the line...I've seen no end of people dissing this movie, but hey, guess it's not for everyone.

He just finished a concert tour in the UK with David Essex, The Bay City Rollers, and The Osmond Brothers. He was also doing a show in Vegas for quite a while.

At the time, it was the only gig he could get. But it kick-started his career again.

A Better Tomorrow

I really enjoyed it! Action packed, but still serious and thought-provoking, to some extent. One problem I had was that it was either poorly written, or the subtitles were poorly done in some places. Alot of those lines were beyond horrible. Overall, that didnt detract too much from the movie though....Mark has got to be one of, if not the coolest characters Ive seen from an Asian movie:cool:

Darkman, on vhs.
I honestly couldn't remember much about this film from seeing it last at about the age of 13, at which time I had no idea it was a Sam Raimi film.
Watching it again, I actually enjoyed it a lot more than I expected after my initial viewing. Pretty dark tale, sad and funny, and what a psycho motherfucker he is! Good score, nice camera-work, and actually had a pretty comicbook "feel" throughout.
I'm sure that watching this, the comic would have been VERY good, I'll be trying to download it soon.

Venom

Not that great really. Some decent killings and gore, rather stupid plot, predictable ending. Not recommended. Overall: 4/10

I just watched Darkman a couple days ago. A real treat I forgot about.

Love is a bit too strong for me but I definately liked it. Mainly because of Viggo's performance which is more often than not very good, very underrated actor imo.

You know, I still remember the first movie I saw him in - Daylight with Sylvester Stallone. Too bad his character didn't make it til the end of the movie. Anyway, I remember thinking then "This guy is going to be one to watch".

urgeok 02-02-2006 01:44 PM

i have an older movie called Amarican Yakuza - or something like that with him in it ..he elevated the quality of the film with his presence

he was always a solid actor ...been in a lot of stuff before his name was big ..

Robocop

Not exactly the first time Ive see it, but the first time Ive seen it start to finish. Ive tried to watch this dozens of times, and for whatever reason I always get interupted. What a kickass movie. Kutrwood Smith makes for an awesome villain, plus there's some semi-unexpected plot twists that I found pretty cool. Not to mention the awesome effects [for the time].

Basketcase which was a lot of fun and then Chopping Mall. Wow, Chopping Mall was BAD. I can just imagine what was going through the flimmakers head. "You know, I liked Dawn of the Dead but I hated all that social commentary, I think I'll remove it and try a horror movie in the mall. Hmmmm, I don't have any good makeup people so zombies are out but I do have those Johnny 5 prototypes from Short Circuit, those should work well. What about a script? Nah, we can wing it. I will make sure it still has a horror movie title though, that should sucker in some viewers." I guess I'm not sorry I own this one though because the lines alone are great for a laugh. Rambogram? Robot blood? Wow...

bwind22 02-03-2006 04:17 AM

Chopping Mall is one of those that's sooooo bad that it's actually semi-entertaining. I own it too.

Corpse Bride

This was okay, but very similar to Nightmare Before Christmas so if you didn't like that, don't bother with this. I have a bit of a stop-motion background so these types of films are always pretty cool to me, and Danny Elfman did what you would expect on the soundtrack. (Since all of his soundtracks/scores pretty much sound the same.) Anyways, it was entertaining, but not groundbreaking.
