1. Very recently like a few years ago. It was on cable. I don't know why I didn't watch it sooner.

2. Nope. I just knew it was a Carpenter movie and one of the best horror movies. I knew nothing going in.

3. Awesome. It wasn't a let down.

4. Tons. I'm talking hundreds. Watching or listening.

5. So many good things I use from this movie. I whistle the music. Use many of the lines. It's a movie not to be missed for horror or movie fans.

1 - Do you remember when you first watched it? Theater, VHS or DVD? VHS

2 - Did you get any feedback (from friends or media) prior to watching it? No

3 - How was your first viewing experience? I was pretty young and it was one of the goriest movies I had seen at the time, so I was impressed! :)

4 - How many times have you re-watched it since? Probably... about 5 times or so.

5 - Any special memories associated with it, that you wish to share? Yeah, my dad rented the movie for me, and it kind of marked the point in time where he started to accept my taste for horror.

Television. Late night. Alone. Caught it from about 15 minutes in.
I was about 11 years old, so by then it was near a decade old...though I remember even after seeing Krueger and Hellraiser, this was quite "new" for me.

2 - Did you get any feedback (from friends or media) prior to watching it?

Nope.
Had not even heard of it at the time.

3 - How was your first viewing experience?

Yeah...pretty scary...as I said, while I grew up in the 80's and was no stranger to the more hm "physical" representations of horror, this was maybe one of my first outings, or realisations of atmosphere used to good effect in horror. I felt suspense, and dread, and at the same time the concept of a creature that could be anyone/any living thing was...quite thought provoking.

4 - How many times have you re-watched it since?

Probably 4 repeat viewings. I still consider it a great film, though I like to space things a bit. I now own it on BluRay and I have to say it's just the most brilliant conversion of an older film onto BR I've ever seen...if you have the dvd already, I'd still recommend an upgrade.

5 - Any special memories associated with it, that you wish to share?
I guess what I already mentioned - it was my first experience/realisation thereof, of atmospheric horror.

2. I don't think so.

3. Perfect. Watching this for the first time is one of those particularly special horror-related memories from when I was young. It was definitely a big part in contributing to my life-long love of horror films.

4. Countless.

5. Watching it with friends, especially if they haven't seen it before.

Certainly a very interesting movie experience. It wouldn't be wrong to say that after numerous rewatches, the film has firmly etched itself as one of my top 10 horror films of all time. One of the near-perfect remakes ever made.

Moving on...

It was on VHS, my parents bought it for themselves.

Yes, from the media

2 times, I think.

5 - Any special memories associated with it, that you wish to share?

Not really

2. I had heard plenty about it, and I remember always thinking the cover art looked so cool.

3. It was my 12th or 13th birthday, and I had a bunch of friends over. My mom let us rent a bunch of horror movies, and this was one of them.

4. A few.

5. Not really, other than that first time. It was a lot of fun watching it late at night with a group of friends. And, movie geek time, a couple of years ago I found the out-of-print Criterion DVD at a second-hand shop. Watching that with all the cool extra features was great, too.
