I agree-I didn't think it was clever but instead found it to be fun and entertaining. Not the best King adaptation but nowhere near the worst either.

Gotta defend Return Of The Living Dead and Maximum Overdrive.

I agree, ROTLD is one of the best zombie movies. So much fun!!

Maximum Overdrive is cheesy, but has some great scenes (soda machine, for example). I wouldn't put in a Top 100 Best list, but it's a light, entertaining film.

Yep, I own and watch that one regularly, one of the more fun zombie flicks out there. I'd say there are a ton of worse zombie movies alone that keep RotLD from being considered in the top ten. Here's a quick list from the top of my head of zombie flicks I've seen worse than RotLD (and not all of these even fit into the "worst" catagory).

Day of the Dead (remake)
House of the Dead
Gangs of the Dead
Die You Zombie Bastards!
Zombie Strippers
The Stink of Flesh
Survival of the Dead
Attack Girls Swim Team Vs. the Undead
Undead
