DEEP RED is a classic, but if you find gialli to be a tad slow, you probably won't dig that one.

OPERA
TENEBRE
STENDHAL SYNDROME

and one film he produced DEMONS is profoundly wierd and awesome

and of course his new one GIALLO will be an action-packed, thrill-a-minute horror extravaganza that promises not only to entertain, but also to increase your quality of life, raise you IQ points, improve your skills with the opposite sex, help you drop those ten extra pounds and whiten your smile

I back the recommendations of Opera, Tenebre and Mother Of Tears. Definitely give Sleepless a day in court because its brilliant.

Stay away from the Americanized shit like Trauma and The Card Player.

Though I wouldn't advise you to stay away from Trauma and The Card Player, I do think they're inferior...

My fav ones, on the other hands, are definitely Suspiria, Phenomena and Stendhal Syndrome.

"Suspiria" is not only Argento's finest work, but it's just one of the best movies I've ever seen. From what I've seen, "Deep Red" and "The Bird With Crystal Plumage" come the closest to that masterpiece.

I think Mario Bava's one of the greatest directors who ever lived, and he's my personal favourite. His movies were moving paintings, works of art brought to life. The cinematography in some of his films, especially "Hatchet For the Honeymoon", are some of the best in film history.

How I'd rank his films...

1. "Black Sabbath" (1963)
2. "Hatchet For the Honeymoon" (1969)
3. "Black Sunday" (1960)
4. "Shock" (1977)

Mostly stuff from Demoni which Argento produced, but didn't direct - but still really fun.

it's some of Sergio Stivaletti's best stuff

Suspiria is a mess IMO it all falls to pieces after a great opening.
