exactly.... the stuff they cut out for theatrical release will pop up in a directors dvd sometime along the way

The director's cut DVD will have all of both...I am quite sure of that.

It would have been possible, but studios would want to get the biggest pie out of the audience's pockets by releasing them separately.

I can safely predict from now that Saw IV will do much better than Zombie's Halloween. Mark my words.

I'll be there at 12:01 tonight and back here tomorrow with my thoughts. I'll kind of miss Michael as the Shape, but I think it won't be so bad.

I'll take V's word for it, that this movie blows.

If so, then that is "three strikes and your out" for Mr. Zombie.

I got to see a sneak peek of it Wednesday night courtesy of a friend of a friend who manages a local cinema. Sure, not as great as the original (natch') but I'll be damned if I didn't enjoy it.

The first ten minutes, as stated, don't give much hope...but once it gets into the territory of young Michael and his new shrink (played expertly by Malcolm McDowell) it gets better.

It's definitely a Rob Zombie flick; he went out of his way to make it his own. I won't go into details since no one's seen it yet and I don't want to ruin it with spoilers...but I think Zombie overall did a good job with it. It's quite chilling in parts, and though I was sure the "backstory" would be empty and hokey, I was surprised with how deep Zombie went with it.

Is it great? No. Is it much better than I'd expected? Yep. It'll definitely be a love it or hate it kind of flick. Me, I find myself siding with it. Can't hold a candle to the original (as most remakes) but like the Dawn remake, much better than I would have ever expected.

8/10 Yeah, it's that good.
I saw a sneak preview last night. Of course it doesnt compare to the original, but Zombie did a great job. I liked it a lot. The acting was stellar.
A tip of the hat to Scout Taylor-Compton and Malcolm McDowell they owned their roles.
I'm glad it wasn't a duplicate of the original.

I saw the midnight showing last night and I've never been so disappointed in my life. Being a Halloween fan all my life I can't even begin to tell you how bad I was awaiting this movie. Walking into this movie I had high expecations due to the fact that Rob Zombie did a fantastic job on House Of 1000 Corpses and Devil's Rejects. I thought for sure Zombie was going to make this a remake to remember and oh how I was wrong.

I didn't even feel like I was watching Halloween because it was so different than the original in a bad way. The music, which was always the main factor in Halloween was played at the wrong times and didn't fit the scene whatsoever. It almost seemed as though there was no plot and just random killings. I was in awe as the credits rolled completely speechless. As everyone got out of there seat I couldn't even move because I was completely shocked at how terrible this was. The only thing that was decent was the acting.

^^^ There you have it, folks. 2 completely different reactions after watching.

Watch it and judge for yourself. I can only vouch for those who have the same tastes as me...that you will be bitterly disappointed.

As for the others (and the die-hard Rob Zombie fans)...to each their own.

EDIT : In response to this...

Hold a sec there...not a duplicate?

Zombie tried to make a mixed dish of half-prequel and half-remake. Very "original" indeed? The screenplay and direction SUCKED...

Enough said.
