Last couple things I watched:

Dexter - The finale was a total cop out. I tolerated the season, continued to give it a chance but the end was just lazy writing. I was so disappointed.

The Blacklist - Love James Spader and the characters he plays. Can't wait to see the next episode.

Dexter Series Finale:
Wow that was terrible

SPOILERS:
Deb dies off screen, Dexter kills the worst villain the show has ever had, steals deb's body and dumps her in the ocean, leaves his son with a serial killer who isnt even able to discipline his son enough to keep him from nearly killing himself on a treadmill, then drives his boat into a hurricane faking his death and lives out the rest of his days as a lumberjack.

That sounds made up. But that's really how it ends. The show really forgot what it was about. It's supposed to be about a serial killer who works forensic for miami homicide targeting murderers while trying to keep his kills a secret. The whole show should be about him evading the law. The last season should've done what Breaking Bad did and had him figured out and trying to escape. I would've loved to see Dexter vs. a Debra who didnt decide to ignore his kills. That would have been a good ending. Instead we got the Dexter and Hannah love story. Also what was with all those pointless side stories? Its the last season, do we really need to find out about Masuka's daughter and Quinn taking the Sergeant exam? What a waste of a good show.

END OF SPOILERS

Hostages:
Not sure yet how i feel about this one. Gonna give it some time.

Breaking Bad:
Can't wait for the finale

Got up to Season 5 of Doctor Who. Really not sure how to feel about the season or Matt Smith as the doctor. He just seems to play him so silly. The show's kinda felt that way too. I'm gonna keep watching though.

Thanks for Dexter synopsis, that's saved me bothering to watch it! It had such promise when it began, it's such a shame.

I didn't like Matt Smith either at first, but he's grown on me and the stories are pretty good.

Glad I could help. Good to know about Matt Smith. Hopefully I'll feel the same

Been holding off on Breaking bad, mid next week I've got a couple of friends coming around to watch the last 2 episodes (and talking bad's) in a row.
When I initially discovered this show, I'd heard of it and actually avoided it 'til curiousity got the better of me.
I downloaded all of seasons 1 and 2, and all but 2 as-yet unaired episodes of the third season (half and full measures, the series high point IMO).
Loved the marathon.
So yeah figured we'd send it off the same way. Pizza night.
Of course, I've had to be rather careful with how I navigate tv related sites.

Catching up on the final season of "Burn Notice".
Always entertaining for what it is...will miss it a bit when it's not around.

Sons of Anarchy.
Cool as always.

Were my eyes deceiving me, or did I see Sean Pertwee in the advertisement?

DrFrankensteinsGirl 09-27-2013 08:56 AM

I just started watching American Horror Story last night, I know I'm super behind. I like it, it's been creepy and crazy most of the main characters are horrible people and I hate 98% of them (I hate Dylan McDermott's character the most but I think that's just because I hate Dylan McDermott) but I think that's supposed to be the point. I still haven't seen the last two episodes though, I'm saving them for tonight and then I move on to American Horror Story Asylum.

I'm a huge Sherlock Holmes fan, but I haven't really been interested in watching Elementary. Seeing Sean Pertwee playing Inspector Lestrade makes me want to watch that episode though. He's a great actor just like his dad.

I enjoy Elementary, partly because I like Jonny Lee Miller. But, I think it's a well-done show.

I did catch half of an episode of this a while ago, and I must admit it didn't grab me at the time. I might give it another try though, seeing as y'all seem to like it quite a lot.

Thing is I've been a Holmes fan pretty much since I was old enough to read adult literature, and one of the things I love about the world of Holmes et al is the lovely escapism of being immersed in Conan Doyle's portrayal of Victorian/Edwardian Britain.

It took me about three episodes to forgive UK telly for their recent 're-imagining' and enjoy that on its own terms... I'm not sure I'm quite ready for a remake of Sherlock Holmes in New York and a gender-reassigned Watson just yet :p

We just wrapped up with Broadchurch. It was done exceptionally well, although I did figure out who the murderer was about 3 episodes in. David Tennet does a great job as the main detective, although, the woman who plays his partner Ellie, is amazing. Her character has some of the widest ranging changes in her emotional adventure throughout the case because she knows everyone involved and all the suspects. I definitely recommend this show.

We have caught one episode of Sleepy Hollow and I feel like that it has potential to be good. It starts off well and it shows promise to grow. My fear is that it also has the ability to turn into LOST, where it meanders through various mysteries never quite answering any questions and always asking more.

Really i thought it was a little obvious by the time they revealed it. But that didnt take anything away from the powerful finale. The acting was brilliant.

I was going to say no, but I just looked it up on Wiki and it seems very familiar ... I might have seen it a long time ago.

I'll see if I can get a copy, I really like George C. Scott.

Hostages -

I guess this can be seen as a bit of a realistic modern horror situation. But it has the potential of becoming a comedy of sorts. As without spoiling it, almost every member of the all American type family that lives in the suburbs has secrets that will put a wrench in the works of the hostage taker. Who makes a point to know everything but he really doesn't. Yet Dylan McDermott probably will be the best part of the show if it lasts. Eventually he'll start shouting at people and stuff.

Face Off TV -

I won't watch this "show" again. The Elvira teaser commercial and a few reviews here got me to watch. And it was an Elvira tease. She was only there for a few minutes. I don't like "reality" shows. I don't get why they are still on and people watch them. They are all the same. A group of people show up for money. They are always engaged in some sort of competition. And someone gets voted off sometimes via backstabbing. Other times through "professional consideration." Which is just as bad because the professionals are saying basically you suck but don't take it the wrong way. Like in this show. And you can't really judge pure creativity not based off previous works.

Guessed who it was based on a couple storytelling standards. Mostly the clear idea that the one detective was too close to the suspects and a particular scene early on where that character was too happy and normal compared to the rest of towns overall demeanor. That set my suspicions.

I actually find FaceOff as a great tool. I let my young boys watch it so that they understand that scary movie monsters aren't real AND it encourages imagination. I also happen to have met a couple of the artists (they did some zombie make up for us at E3 this past year for Dead Rising 3 stunt) and so I get some extra enjoyment seeing a friend on TV.

I know it's really good, I was really skeptical about it at first but they've really come up with a cool new take on fairy tales. Plus I have the biggest crush on Rumplestiltskin so as long as he's on there and they don't turn him into a wuss (like they tend to do with villain types when they start working on trying to be good) then I'll keep watching it.
