This is a "tracking cookie", just delete it if you don't want it on your system.

LivePerson is a company that makes chat/electronic communications programs. It is not an individual stalking you online.

thank f%%k god. i can be calm now lol

ManchestrMorgue 09-24-2007 01:08 AM

No problems.

No need to get worried about that one.

You should still run antispyware software from time to time just to make sure your computer is clean.

Antispyware software will often report tracking cookies (eg spybot s&d and adaware) and give you the option to delete them.

Basically these cookies can track your browsing patterns because they are present on several sites on the web (ie where the company in question has a banner or linked content) so they can build up a "profile" of your browsing which they probably could use for market research etc. But it's not like a spyware infection that will slow down your computer or steal your passwords or anything like that.

Nice spelling.;)

Anyway...here's your answer -

Solution 1 - "Using Internet Explorer, go to:

http://security.symantec.com/sscv6/d...d=ie&venid=sym

Click the GO button, then under Virus Detection, click Start. You might be told that you need to download and install ActiveX Controls for the scan to work, answer Yes.

Write down exactly anything it finds, then go to:

http://www.symantec.com/search/

and do a search for what was found. Symantec usually has a removal tool and/or directions for removing manually. Make sure that you follow the instructions for removal, step by step, especially the part regarding disabling System Restore."

Solution 2 - "We first need to stop unnecessary (possible s*yw*re) running at start up.

Click Start > click Run and type in "msconfig".

Click on the Startup tab.

http://www.netsquirrel.com/msconfig/

uncheck everything there except your antivirus, firewall and internet connection if you see it there.

Click ok and restart.

when your computer reboots you will get a window which says you have made changes to the system configration utility, then click on "do not show this message again"

B] We now need to clean internet explorer of possible s*yw*re. And security exploits.

Open your internet explorer

Under the general tab click on
1) Delete cookies
2) Delete files
3) Click on settings (next to deleted files ) and the click on "view objects) . Delete all the objects listed there (these are plugins which is come back when you visit the site like flash) This will get rid of any s*yw*re tool bar and malicious activex controls
4) Click on clear history

Click on the security tab
1) Click on the Internet icon and click default level
2) Click on the Local intranet icon and click default level
3) Click on the Trusted sites and click default level
4) Click on the Restricted sites and click default level

Click on the privacy tab and click default

Click on the programs tab and click reset web settings

Click on the advanced tab and click restore defaults.

Click your internet explorer and reopen it.

C ] Run the essential s*yw*re removal programs 1-5 .This is to clean the whole system of s*yw*re and viruses, which would hijack internet explorer.

http://securitynewsfromthenet.blogspot.com/2007/03/clean-up-tools-to-prevent-people-from.html"

I like SPYBOT S&D

ManchestrMorgue 11-21-2007 02:21 AM

Spybot S&D
Adaware
Windows Defender

seem to be the three popular free ones. It doesn't hurt to install all three and run them all. It's not like antivirus software, where you should only have one installed.

Also, could download Kaspersky antivirus and install the 1 month free trial. This also detects malware, trojans, etc. and may be helpful.

After you have cleared this, do as ___V___ said and use Firefox instead if IE (if you aren't already). It will stop a lot of infections just by using it instead of IE.

Make sure you have an anti-virus installed - AVG or Avast are reasonable free alternatives.

At the end of the day, when you have a lot of spyware on your comp, it can be really hard to get it completely clean. If you have your original Windows disc and applications discs, sometimes it is quicker just to back up all your data (photos, docs, music, email, etc) and reformat/reinstall. That way, you have a fresh system that you know is completely clean. However, if you don't have the discs for everything, this doesn't work.

i'll admit to a devilish impulse to making a thread in general forum entitled sqy vare (with the right spelling) just to screw with MD - but then my conscience got the better of me -- - damn that conscience.

Burning Software

...Any ideas of something I could download?
Of course, free would be the preference.
Just looking for a good cd/dvd burning app that can handle multiple file formats and extensions, data and video burning available.

So, any ideas/links?
