But you don't like the Exorcist, The Shining or Jason so I guess we can rule that out. You'll probably like Rob Zombie's version better:mad:

Why did I picture your eyes turning red and a flaming background when I read that?

Halloween was never really "hyped," actually. Its success grew from word of mouth, and it did the boxoffice it did mainly because it worked. It's a good, simple, scary movie, beautifully photographed.

I was wondering if it is really THAT good? Is it really worth the hype?

I didnt really love Excorcist or the Shining..didnt care much for Jason's movies either (except for part 3).

Do you think I'll love this one? Does it have a story behind it?

Good movie. You should like. Horrors that really stand out to me are those with great directing, great acting, cool music, etc....like The Exorcist and The Shining.

Oh shit. You hated both of those? Wow. Those two, along with Halloween, are generally considered classics.

I wouldnt say I hated it but I didnt really love it. The shining was not scary at all it was more like a thriller. John's acting was great and the score fit really well but the movie was too slow for me. The excorsist was okay but the fact that I had heard about a lot of the scenes in the movie probably ruined the surprise and it's the kind of movie that you judge on what you felt the first time you saw it you know.

As for Halloween.. I'm about to watch it right now. I'll let you guys know what I thought when I'm done.

This sounds like a case of "spoiled by special effects" syndrome.

I'm willing to bet this poster is in his early teens.

Not trying to generalize.....I'm aware we have some very hip teens here......just that the majority would probably think like this "scream" dude.......or dudet.

I thought he was referring to John Carpenter, and kept thinking back if the dude had a special appearance in it.

Then scratched it and thought maybe John Wayne, but I couldnt remember the tall, lanky westerner in even one scene.

Maybe it was John McClane, but then the Torrances wouldnt have "died hard" would they?:p

:D

You knew what I meant.;)

Newb got it spot-on though. Newer generations need to watch the classics first and appreciate it more, rather than giving their thumbs ups to newer CGI-loaded dull stuff.
