It's not really the same, it's more along the lines of ignore someone who tells a racist joke if you're too uptight to laugh. Some people don't seem to understand that the world doesn't bow to them.

Anyway what happened to the right to free speech? Does that only apply if it doesn't conflict with your beliefs? If I hear a guy saying "Kill niggers" I'm going to tell him that's he's an ignorant racist fuck and I hope he chokes but I'm not going to go go on a crusade to stop people from saying stuff like that.

Telling a sick joke is completely different from that anyway though.

You know, I'm sick of people dragging out the old "whatever happened to free speech" deal! So freedom of speech is supposed to give you the right to say whatever the hell you want and to hell with people's feelings? I think not! Just the opinion of an old fart.

it was the same in the context i meant it in .. it was re. the 'if you dont like it - dont read it' context and my point was that it was in every forum - hard to ignore.

actually free speech is a right ... but hate crime isnt (re my mall example)
There are crusades to stop people saying shit like that - its law .. and i'd stand right behind it ... but thats distracting from the point ..

i was saying somewhere else that i know where the actual jokes are coming from .. we told those 'dead baby' jokes when we were kids too believe it or not .. it probably started with my generation ...

anyway .. this was something that was going on before you showed up last nite .. it was about an attitude .. not a couple of jokes..

however if an individual in a community does speak up with something extremely unpleasant - the rest of the comunity has that same right of free speech to express how they feel about it ..

Thats not silencing someone - its more showing and hoping that the person should have the brains to silence themselves...

if its published and passed around it qualifies as hate literature .. this IS against the law ...
To me it is just as bad if its spoken allowed.
