LOL

I got outta renting this for my kids so many times, now they don't even ask to see it-whew.

Doc Faustus 12-07-2005 08:41 PM

You're very lucky. The kangaroo doesn't even actually talk outside of a hallucination and a bizarre moment at the end of the movie. False representation of talking animals disappoints the crap out of children so often. My younger siblings wanted desperately to see Snow Dogs and then found out that the dogs only talk during a hallucination.

Fantastic 4

Meh... It was okay. I'd say it's better than Hulk or Daredevil, but worse than SpiderMan or X-Men, but then again that's right about how I'd place the comics themselves too. Chiklas is good as The Thing and whoever the guy was playing Mr. Fantastic had that part down pretty well. The Human Torch didn't really look like the comic version of himself but the attitude was portrayed correctly. And is it just me or is Jessica Alba in like every comic book movie that comes out nowadays? (okay so it's just this, Sin City and Dark Angel which isn't even a movie, but still...) Oh well, she's hot and if she likes comics too, that just makes her one cool chick in my book.

Anyways, overall this movie was just alright. The sequel should be better because they don't have to waste half the movie setting up how they got their powers (That's why X-Men 2 is better than X-Men also.) The FX were good, the fight scenes were a little disappointing, but the huge car wreck on the bridge was cool. This one's hit or miss... You probably won't hate it... But I'd be surprised if you loved it too.

...no.. to me "the Descent" felt like a desperat british attempt to make a cool american monster movie...that said its worth a look..

Saw "Boogeyman" last night. Not nearly as bad as I thought. It was decent, could've been better, but it was still an okay film. Much better than a lot of crap coming out today.

Kinda like Darkness Falls but shittier I thought. Pretty disappointed with that one. I thought it was weak. Suprisingly some of the chumps on here were right :D

Bruiser was a bit bloody shit, wasn't it?

Romero at his worst - The Dark Half was much better than this.

Sadly, after Land of the Dead, it seems his time is over.

Hellbound: Hellraiser 2

It was actually pretty good. Wasnt expecting much, but pleasantly surprised. Gore was pretty good, plot was fairly interesting, and Channard was awesome.

Despare 12-09-2005 01:16 PM

Cronos, pretty good movie, not really what I expected but it was really well done. Watching the old guy change, I liked how his wife was talking about her dress and said it didn't fit right but she had worn it three months ago and it was funny how a person can change so much in such little time.

That's what I meant by not what I expected. It was really long and drawn out but I liked it. Thank goodness for netflix though because I am happy I didn't buy it.

Kill Bill Vol.1 again..

Keeps coming on Encore(hence the name encore) and since I don't have any movies right now if there isn't anything better on I don't have any reason not to watch everytime.

Metropolis

Wow! Was this ever ahead of it's time! Dark and stylish futuristic silent film about two a city with two classes of citizen. The privelaged upper class that lives in the city and the workers that live several levels below the city. It's a bit slow but whta do you expect from a silent film. This one was made back in the 30s I think... Anyways, I really enjoyed it. It is now my top ranking silent film of all time. (Even though it's only the second one I've watched with a critical eye.)

Thirteen Ghosts Remake

This was the horror movie that got me into horrors three years ago. I bought it a few weeks ago and finally got around to watching it again. I still enjoy it, but barely. Sure, three years ago it seemed to me like the greatest movie ever made. Now, it's a timewaster. A lot of the characters are annoying (especially that little kid a.k.a. the little fucker), some pretty bland acting (except for Tony Shalhoub and Matthew Lillard), and this movie did give me a bad mindgrain. But, the reason I still enjoy it is because 1). The ghosts looked great, 2). It does have some cool "ghost chases", and 3). It was the horror movie that got me into horror movies. I'll give it 2 and a half stars out of 5.

Have you seen the House on Haunted Hill remake? I found them similar, but thought HoHH was MILES better. It's one of my absolute favourite movies, and probably my all-time favourite remake [Tie with The Fly]

Yeah, I've seen it. Wasn't bad, wasn't great either. I haven't seen it in awhile though, so I might rent it soon just to see what I think about it. I only remember some of it. But, from what I remember, it was a helluva lot better than Thirteen Ghosts.

Oh, it's in all of the bargain bins around here too. I just haven't felt like cashing in on it because I'm not altogetherly sure if I'll still enjoy it. Like I said, I only remember a little bit of it, not all of it. I'll rent it, and if I like it, I'll probably end up buying it.

Mindhunters

This surprised me. After hearing some stuff about it on here, I wasnt expecting much at all, but it turned out to be pretty good. The actors werent great, but the kills were mostly well-done [Acid Cigarette was great], and the whodunnit aspect wasnt TOO predictable. I figured it out, but it took me most of the movie.

Overall- Above-average whodunnit that will keep you guessing [for awhile atleast], with a nice, claustrophobic atmosphere and good deaths. Definatly reccomended.

FBI profilers, huddled up in a room and they find a watch set for a certain time and somebody askes when and the guy/girl says now?

That's all I remember from the trailer,if I'm right that is.

That would be it. Thers some really cheesy lines [The one you mentioned], but overall it's a good film. Val Kilmer is pretty cool in it, albiet massively underused.

Having seen this twice before, I was literally shocked to find...added footage in a German dubbed version. Does anybody know whether this version is Franco's? Or did some German decide to "spice it up" with extra footage?
