I havent seen Twice Told Tales, but I can vouch for the rest being an absolute blast. Got some of my all time favourites in there - enjoy!

You have to be in a different kind of mood for Madhouse though...I really didn't like it on my first viewing because I was expecting something like Dr. Phibes/Theatre of Blood. It's a VERY strange movie - I've learned to love it over repeat viewings, but it takes some getting used to.

-------------------------------------

I grabbed the "Classic Sci-Fi Ultimate Collection: Vols. 1+2" today...I've been eying it for awhile now, and hearing Doc talk about it last night made me finally decide to shell out the cash. Looks like a sweet set - I've been wanting to see The Incredible Shrinking Man FOREVER.

Really glad to find this one in a cheap bin. Dug it ever since I saw it on TV as a kid. My favorite film by Mann apart from Manhunter.

It's definitely overlooked. They just don't make 'em like this anymore. The characters are really believable and straight up. Can't go past this one or The Driver.

Yeh dude! That shit's badass. The late 70s/early 80s crime flicks are the closest we got to having modern noir. Gonna have to track more stuff down. Revolver wasn't a bad watch and the Blue Underground release is dope. I really like the stuff they dig out.

That does sound pretty cool, I'll have to grab a copy and let you know what I think. I've got a copy of Frankenheimer's 52 Pick-Up I've been meaning to watch again. It was always my favorite of the Elmore Leonard adaptions.

if you grab a copy of that film - let me know ! i cant find it anywhere.

i do have 52 Pickup though. Roy Scheider is just perfect for these 'modern noir' type films and John Glover rocks as a villian.

Typical corporate decision. Why don't they SELL them?

Haven't watched any yet, but reviews say the transfer quality is generally poor, there are cut scenes, etc... so I wouldn't bother with it. Just amazed somebody sent it to me out of the clear blue.

EDIT: I checked out several of the movies on my computer (I don't have a DVD player) and the picture quality was fine, IMO. You can't expect them to have the same quality as a brand new movie- some of these are quite old. I remember White Zombie picture being really bad the first time I saw it, and this transfer is much better, so it might be worth picking up if you aren't a stickler for really great digital quality, and there are NO EXTRAS. The price is really cheap though, so it might be worth it for you.

CrimsonFiend138 11-01-2008 08:08 PM

Thats a Great list of movies though. i was Thinking about getting it.

Zombie

Cannibal Holocaust. Both were gifts.

Dark City (Director's Cut)

The_Return 11-03-2008 01:45 PM

Fantastic set man - I recommend it constantly. Some real classics and a bunch of hidden gems. Enjoy yourself :)

As for me:

- Citizen Kane (2-Disc)
- A Clockwork Orange (2-Disc)
- Following

Figured it was time to grab some classics...and I was PUMPED to find Following. I now own all of Nolan's movies (except for Dark Knight, of course - but it wont be long!)
