Thought this was great. Ben Stiller's best work to date as both a actor and a director. As far as big budget "life affirming" Hollywood films go I thought this was original, entertaining and didn't fall into the usual trap of forced cliched sentimentality. Quite a rich film visually with a deep subtext... it's left me thinking about it today. Worth watching if only to see Ben Stiller pop a kickflip ::big grin:: For me it was a much needed pick me up to get me through the rest of a shitty week. You'll know whether it's your thing or not without watching it but don't write it off and give it a shot you might just surprise yourself.

I loved this movie - one of my favourites in a long time

It seems like these critics tried to judge it next to Lawrence in Arabia on account of its cast. If you don't take it seriously, it will give you some good laughs, its basically an above average episode of Saturday Night Live. .

I fully agree.

I was thinking SNL as well. Many of the sketches needed closure or a punch line. But what the hell... It was fun and entertaining.

Loved it. One of the best action films in recent times.

a quiet character driven western i quite liked.
it had a big showdown finale that lasted quite a while but even that was subtle and realistic .. not shot with all the typical action and music …

it's no Dances With Wolves but it's a solid watch,

Duvall steals the film - as usual
He goes under the radar a lot but he's one of our finest actors

Scum is great. My favorite prison flick along with Ghosts... of the Civil Dead.

I've only seen the American remake of Scum. "Dog Pound". Good movie.

Really disliked Wilderness. More a bad survival horror flick than a youth prison flick.

I also saw The Onion movie recently too, its not bad if you don't take it seriously. The Onion News Network TV show is much better though. Their 'Porkin' Across America' series is an absolute classic.

I liked The Onion Movie and even Darwin Awards better than Movie 43... to me it felt less like celebs making their own comedy skit and more like celebs bound by a promise they made to do this movie. I think two of the shorts got a laugh out of me, the wrap-around story was boring as hell, and I just expected more from everybody involved. Except Halle Berry, I was surprised by how far she went for her skit.

Yeah, no youth prison but still young prisoners.
I liked it because it's a bunch of criminals instead of the usual gang of teens.
