Nosferatu

Well, I knew right off the bat this would be a tough one to grade because it's so damn old (and silent) so I don't have much to compare it with. I'm sure in it's day, it was the most gruesome thing to come along ever (Hell, it spawned it's own sub-genre) but it didn't really do much for me. I can respect the film they made and what they had to work within those times, but for me, having seen soooo many horror films over the years, it just didn't do it. I may take some heat for this, but honestly, I found it rather boring...

That being said, I still have mad respect for the vampire genre and it wouldn't be what it is if this film never came out so my grade is a bit more generous than it should be based on cultural impact and not neccesarily overall entertainment value...

The thing is that I think what you have is just an impatience with older movies, especially those that are silent, 'cause that's just how they were. I wouldn't try to watch any more silents if I were you, 'cause Nosferatu is as good as they get, and if you didn't like Nozzy, you won't like any of 'em.

Me too.

That stairset scene, with the shadow! That's one of my favorite all time movie scenes.

Not older movies (Night of the Living Dead and House of Wax are 2 of my all time favorites.), but silent movies perhaps.

I thought Nos was okay, but like I said, it just didnt do much for me.

Nothing wrong with that.

Watched 10 Thing to do in Denver When You're Dead and Slime City today. 10 Things was pretty good, I liked it, I'd say 7/10. Slime City was shlock horror, hilarious, and I think all the gore effects were food! Sausage, scrambled eggs, mustard... it was so freakin' funny! Wasn't really a B movie as much as a C movie. As a regular movie 4/10 but it's fun to MST3K to with some friends.

Cypher. Decent little SF flick, despite the presence of Lucy Liu, who looks more like some sort of predatory lizard than ever. 6/10.

Butterfly Effect. I can't help but laugh at how much Ashton Kutcher's character sucks at life. The deck may be stacked against him, but the sheer absence of logic he shows is nigh comical.

Son of Dracula

I officially LOVE Universal's Legacy collections. This here is a damn good movie, not as good as the first Dracula [of course] but still damn good. Cheney was NOT a good choice for the Count, but it certainly was better than the total lack of a Count in Dracula's Daughter. Louise Allbritton's character was amazing, very far from the typical horror movie lady of the time. The effects were surprisingly good, the mist transformations were amazing. It did drag in some parts, but overall....Great movie!!

wishmaster 4..its on sci-fi right now...oh lord when will the sequels stop?!?!

IDrinkYourBlood 10-18-2005 08:50 PM

FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY got to watch The Prowler and it was BLOODY AMAZING. and by amazing i mean pretty good. 4/5.

bwind22 10-18-2005 09:23 PM

Robots

Well, it was visually spectacular. It would have been really cool to see in 3D at the IMAX theatres but I didn't get around to that so I suppose renting it and watching it in 2D is the next best thing.

I know it's a kids film, but I wasn't crazy about all the singing and dancing across colorful backgrounds that's only there to make the little ones go 'Ahhhh!'

I don't know.... It was pretty good I guess, but it's not like something I feel any urge to own (Or even see again anytime soon for that matter.)

B-

Next up: Kicking & Screaming, Land of the Dead (Directors Cut), Shaolin Soccer

Devour 5/10

Roughly Devils Advocate meets The Game, full of cliche characters such as the slut, the wacky one and straight laced hero. Not awful but not particularly original, an ok way to waste 90 minutes of your life

Dante'sInferno 10-20-2005 06:57 AM

Hide and Seek 5/10
