X-Men

Easily the best superhero movie Ive ever seen. Been one of my absolute favourite movies since I saw it in theatres. Incredible, amazing movie.

ChEEbA 10-11-2005 06:18 PM

I agree...ther 2 x-men films are definately among the best comic based movie adaptations, even though they totally assfucked certain elements of the history, it still turned out damn good.

I saw Sky High at the cinema last night, it was fun, I won't be in a hurry to add it to my dvd collection though.

Event Horizon

PR3SSUR3 10-12-2005 09:48 AM

Underrated - the lack of rubbery spacemonsters is commendable, the nerve-jangling shocks are very effective, and Event Horizon brought fashionable theories of black holes and different dimensions to a whole new generation.

Very glad to hear that, i think one of the more original sci/fi horrors to be made in the last ten years. Sam Neill is one of the better actors for horror ( in the mouth of madness springs to mind also )

Final Destination

Holy crap. Well, I expected this to be a crappy, teen-slasher flick. I mistread the reviews, I thought by "Death" killing them, it meant some retard in a Grim Reaper costume. Well, AWESOME surprise.

The acting flat out sucked, but that was to be expected. Original plot with some really cool twists, crazy [if not a bit chessy] deaths, and some pretty cool stuff to notice [John Denver....cool.]

The only things I didnt like were the ending, and how they figured out the order. That was an awful, awful ending, and the order part was just way beyond any acceptable level of cheese.

Overall- Fun movie, cool plot, full of cheese and cool deaths. If you're like me and were putting off waching this, I definatly recomend checking it out.

I don't understand why it's surprising that Devil's Rejects sucked. House of 1000 Corpses was the most unoriginal horror film I've seen in years, so I can't imagine the sequel being any better. Rob Zombie needs to seriously consider thinking of some of his own ideas instead of just throwing together a hodge-podge of scenes from other (better) movies.

And Angra, I was noticing that same thing with Amalthea's ratings almost never dipping below an 8. Hahaha. Either Amalthea's the nicest critic out there, they haven't seen many movies, or they are just very easily entertained.

Wishmaster 4: The Prophecy Fulfilled

Meh... It was okay. Average acting, decent plot, average gore... *Shrug* Nothing special, but there's worse films out there...

C-

Killjoy 2

Oh man... This sucker was low budget! The acting was horrible, the gore was off-screen for the most part and the story was garbage. The only redeeming quality in this film was that Killjoy the Clown was somewhat entertaining in the most cheesy of ways. Other than that, this one scuked!

There has been a movie sitting on my DVD rack for months, mocking me everytime I glaced at it. "You're to wimpy to finish watching me!" it said. And today, I got fed up.

I put the absolute, bar none worst movie ever made, Jigsaw, back into my DVD player. No, I wasnt to wimpy cause I was scared....just scared that it might get worse. I finally finished watching it, and I cant even begin to tell you how awful it is. Even if you're in the situation I was and you see it at a yard sale, in good condition, for $2 DO NOT WATCH THIS MOVIE IF YOU DONT WANT TO WASTE 75 MINUTES OF YOUR LIFE. At least it was pretty short...

I just finished watching it now...love that movie. Remake sucked so bad....

noctuary 10-13-2005 08:44 PM

Slaughterhouse of the Rising Sun. Laughably bad attempt at Last House on the Left/TCM style horror. For the first hour or so, it's just a bunch of annoying hippies prancing around and playing grabass in the desert. I almost thought I was watching one of those Sixties-era "freakout" movies. Final score: 2/10. Not recommended at all.

Just finished watching Ichi the Killer for the first time. Fuck me that film is brutal and bloody, absolutely loved it! Going to take me a while to figure out what the ending was all about or i may cheat and read the ichi the killer thread on the japanese movies.
Either way will give it a strong 8.5/10
