The Machinist is a great and very dark film that worked on all levels.

If you liked that, you'd like The Jacket, with Adrien Brody and Kiera Knightley. In fact, I think I liked it better. Similar flicks, though.

I've been meaning to check it out. Hopefully I'll have time over the next week or so to work some movies out of my backlog.

I personally liked the jacket a lot more than the machininst.
I appreciate both, but for me, the jacket was just more my kinda movie.

Fight Club

very god movie for the first half or so, but then went downhill with the twist. even though the twist worked pretty well, i just didnt like it, its been done too many damn times. The movie definetly deserves the attention it gets however; bizzare and morbid atmosphere, standout performances, and good directing. if only it didnt have a twist. (a predictible one at that.....well, i predicted it anyway)

Yeah, but at the time it kind of started that whole "you-know what" tiwst, so when it came out it wasn't as predictable.

I actually think the movie just gets better and better as it gets rolling; one situation leads to the next until the guy is buried in shit, and we have a slam-bang ending.

It improves with viewings, trust me Mothman.

I know what you mean.

The Thing is kind of a comforting movie for me. When I watch it, I make sure I have nothing to do, I make myself some tea, get some blankets and just sink into the film.

The Stuff

Good, cheesy, totally 80s horror flick with a pertty interesting & original concept. The acting & dialogue are really bad, but in an enjoyable cheesy sort of way. There is not much gore but for some reason it's rated R. Anyways, overall I was pretty entertained by the awesome 80's-ness of this movie.
