Nice!

I think I need to make a trip out to Wal-Mart...

urgeok2 07-16-2008 02:33 PM

walked into a giant tiger today (junky canadian store that makes wal-mart look like the Ritz)

came out with :

- Sinbad of the seven seas (lou ferrigno)
- poison ivy / poison ivy 2 / Poison Ivy 3
- crystalstone / the boy and the pirates
- Hercules / the adventures of hercules (lou Ferrigno)
- Jackie Chan's First Strike / Mr. Nice Guy
- Casa de los Babys
- Illegal Aliens (anna nicole smith :D )
- Operation condor
- Surviving the Game
- Phantom from 10,000 leagues
- Dark City (many extras - going to retire the Laserdics)
- Dagon (i think this version is better than the one i already have)
- the Raggedy Rawney

neverending 07-16-2008 02:38 PM

You really do have a disease. A lot of those are terrible - particularly Surviving the Game. I just saw that last week and it has NOTHING going for it. NOTHING. It's not even a good bad movie.

i have it on laserdisc - i thought it was ok .. not great - not bad ..

but i tend to get anything Rutger Hauer is in.

plus it was under $3 :)

most of those movies are something my kid and i can watch (the ferrignos, the jackie chans, the pirate stuff...)

meh .. i know what i'm getting into when i buy these kinds of cheapies .. no harm done :)

alkytrio666 07-16-2008 03:16 PM

The Buster Keaton Collection (TCM Archives)

I found this brand-spankin'-new at Costco for $17- I've been dying to buy it for a long time, but $35 is its typical shelf price. The Cameraman is one of my very favorite silent comedies, and I plan on watching it over and over again. The other two films are bonuses.

Despare 07-16-2008 06:06 PM

Advantage: Eastern Horror
36th Chamber of Shaolin
District B13

The_Return 07-19-2008 08:47 PM

Plus I grabbed some super, super cheap movie trivia DVD game called "Think U Got Game". The packaging is hilarious - I have no idea whether it's movie trivia or music trivia. Its different depending on what part of the package you look at

Buy/collect and see the original Thai version. Then you'll realize how lame was Masayuki Ochiai's remake.

I like to recommend ALONE. It's another horror film from the maker of original Shutter. Not as good as shutter but creepy as hell.

Doc Faustus 07-27-2008 08:52 PM

Slacker Criterion
Fiend Without a Face Criterion
Charade Criterion
Le Samourai Criterion

Excellent sale.

Berzin 07-27-2008 09:07 PM

Hey Doc Faustus-care to tell us where this sale took place?

I want to get my hands on some Criterion Collection movies but they are expensive as hell.

First one I'd get is "the Blob" with Steve McQueen.

As for recently purchased movies, "Nosferatu" and Metropolis" were the last two.

I'm waiting for "REC" to come out on video-the original spanish version of course. Even though I've seen it already I am a collector so any movie I really like I purchase.

Freak 07-28-2008 07:07 PM

Hit up a cheap bin and got these.

Jurassic Park 3
Urban Legend
King Kong remake
Kung Fu Hustle
XXX
Resident Evil Apocalypse

The_Return 07-28-2008 08:29 PM

The Mario Bava Collection, Vol. 1
  • Black Sunday
  • Black Sabbath
  • The Girl Who Knew Too Much
  • Knives of the Avenger
  • Kill, Baby...Kill!
I've only seen 1 of Bava's movies (only Black Sabbath, but 2 if you count I Vampiri), but I've always been intrigued by his work and when I saw this set for $35, I couldn't pass it up.

Oh, and I grabbed Mortal Kombat: Deception for PS2

The sale was at Deep Discount.com. Despare brought it up in another thread. I have the first Deep Discount.com store a town or two over. Hopefully, the guy will start doing more of these. It's a good shopping experience.
