how was Ichi 1?
i've heard mixed reviews i suppose the last asian "horror" film i saw was Izo....which was very good...kind of a Japanese El Topo |

I like these anthologies because 1) you can get them dirt-cheap (I got mine for $5.50), and 2) the stories last just about the right amount of time (in the case of these about 15 minutes each). |
yeah Izo was more of a visual film...although i suppose there was some sort of message about violence and spirituality....but i think Miike should stick to horror, black comedy and Yakuza films and stay the hell away from philosophy
i bought Evil Dead Trap about a week ago....hopefully it will be here today |

"turn" 6-7/10
It´s about a woman who´s reliving the same day over and over while being in a coma after a traffic accident. The thing is, that she´s the only living being in this repeated "dimension". You could call it a serious version of "groundhog day", but to compare those 2 movies wouldn´t be fair to either. Would prefer "Groundhog day" any day though. |
Alive
Directed by Ryuhei Kitamura (Versus), Alive is the story of a man who is spared from execution only to become the victim of horrific experiments. Alive is a much more slowly paced film than Versus was, lacking much of that film's frenzied action. However, the fight scenes late in the film are some of the most impressive "Matrix-style" martial arts I've seen. The entire movie is filmed with a very washed-out color scheme, appearing almost black and white for much of the running time. Although it does sort of drag near the end, and probably could have stood to have left fifteen minutes on the cutting room floor, Alive is a worthwhile effort. Overall: 7/10 |

Death Trance...english dubbed...what a piece of shit...the bad dubbing (no ambient at all) and rock'n'roll music made it even worse...story sucked, design sucked, fighting sucked, actors sucked ...but not in a good bad way.....just a bad martial art movie:mad:

Hidden Fortress, great Kurosawa movie and although not his best it's WELL worth a watch.
|
The Tale of Two Sisters -- Really liked this one. It's not really scary, but it has its share of weirdo moments.

Story of Ricky
Yeah, I know I'm a little late on this one, but it was worth the wait. Story of Ricky has to be the most over the top martial arts movie I've ever seen. The plot was stupid and nonsensical, but the crazy action sequences and gore more than make up for it. On top of this, there are hilarious Engrish subtitles. Definitely recommended. 7/10 |
Musa 6/10
Plot summary taken from IMDB: In 1375, China was in chaos between Yuan Dynasty and Ming Dynasty. Coryo (an ancient kingdom of Korea then) sent a delegation of many diplomats, soldiers and a silent slave (Woo-sung Jung) to make peace with the new Chinese government. However, this delegation got charged as spies and sent in exile to a remote desert. On the way the group came across a Yuan troop, and the Coryo soldiers managed to survive the battle. They began the journey toward the faraway home country, where they met the Yuan troop again. When they found out the Yuan troop kidnapped a Ming princess (Ziyi Zhang), they decided to rescue her so that they could get a ship to go home. Then the battle began... End of Summary. Meh...... |

"Swiri" 6/10
Nothing special about this Korean action drama. You´ve seen a similar story in a hundred american action movies.. Min-sik Choi (Oldboy) was pretty cool as a bad-guy though. |
Dead or Alive
and Il Mare Quite the combination I know but I enjoyed both movies, DoA obviously a bit more because it's more akin to my taste in movies. Il Mare was a good love story though, don't think I'll go see the remake though (is it still in theaters?). |
Stacy and it was great.

One Missed Call
Now that I look back (watched a week ago), I really enjoyed it. The scenes at the TV station are really memorable. In fact, the entire film is. Loved it. |
Not yet. A little hesitant, once I realized Miike wasn't behind this one.
Oh, and I watched The Promise. REALLY enjoyed it as well. Such a dream-like experience, the way a fantasy should be! :) |

The last "Asian" horror film I saw was the South Korean movie called Bloody Beach. It was merely okay.
I am now patiently waiting for netflix to ship me Bunshinsaba (also a South Korean film). |

I blind bought this because I could get it for under $10, and I feel it was well worth the investment. |
Police Story, and the initial D movie...nothing at all like, or to do with the series as far as I can gather.
Next up "Gen-X Cops", know very little about this one...may hire what seems to be the follow up "Gen-Y Cops". |

even features a cameo by one of my fav people in movies, bey logan. gen-y cops  lacking some of the talent from the original, even the addition of personal fave anthony wong doesn't save it.....though it didn't help that the dvd release was a disgrace |
i watched Azumi and Azumi 2 the other day, not really a horror movie, but they were great.
Last asian horror film I watched, I think was The Booth, and I didn't really like it that much. |
