You can't?

What about the ghastly, white-faced, green-eyed boy-vampires floating around and scratching on people's windows, demanding to be let in?

The fine makeup to turn Reggie Nalder into one of the most fearsome head bloodsuckers in history?

The brilliantly framed scene in the lair under the house with the kid unaware of the vampires crawling towards him in the background?

The jarring, in-yer-face shocks Tobe Hooper lets rip every so often - such as James Mason lurching into frame to claim the first boy in the woods, the hand grabbing the guy who Gus out of Basic Instinct chases from his house, and Barlow confronting the thug in the prison cell?

I could go on - but you are talking about the original version and not the remake, aren't you? Cos I haven't seen that yet, and don't really want to.

Best Stephen King Book As A Movie

First of all in answer to someone's question, according to the official Stephen King website , Desperation is about to go into production. Also Bag Of Bones is being lined up to be made into a movie.
My favourite adaptation of Stephen King's work has to be Pet Semetary.
I must say though that it is very difficult to do justice to a Stephen King novel as a movie because of the man's talent as a writer. It is impossible to transfer the detail that King goes into to bring the characters and atmosphere of his stories to life as you read his stories into a 2 hour movie.

Agree with those last comments there - the reason why King's books seldom make good films (the mini-series are often good though, as longer running times mean more character development).

I liked The Raft too - scariest floating bin-liner I've ever seen.

Favorite King movie? Hmmm...it'd probably be "The Shawshank Redemption." I've lost count of the times I've seen that movie.

Runners-up would be: The Green Mile, Misery, Storm of the Century, and Creepshow.
