Yes all those are real instruments... the 12 string works just like a 12 string guitar, except having a dual-octave higher string on each of the normal EADGBE strings...It has a octave higher and a DOUBLE octave higher...

So, each of the normal 4 bass strings, has i octave higher string attached to it, and ANOTHER octave higher than THAT string attach to it....

So to hit any one note you play 3 strings....pretty nifty, got a hold of one at guitar center one time....kinda goofy tho, i dont know how often you could really use one of these but i imagine it would kick ass at some long sustaining bass notes...

I would still like to SEE one...And that sounds pretty cool...Thanks for educating me:)
