I watched Deep Red last night .. now thats a soundtrack I'd like to get my hands on.

Okay, yeah, its a good list. I was surprised to see C.H.U.D. on there. I guess I'm not the only one who likes to see transients chomped to bits.

You need to check out "Devil's Backbone" Yeah, I know I've said it once already, but its worth the ribbing. Compelling, freaky, a bit scary and a nasty chick with a wooden leg.

I recently purchased:

Willard
The Ring (U.S.)
TCM (2003)
From Hell
Tormented
Little Shop of Horrors

Well, out of the bargain $4 bin, I got:

Lifeforce
Man of a Thousand Faces
Lady In White
For Your Eyes Only
South Pacific
Halloween III
The Changeling
Jaws 2
Phantom of the Paradise
The Terminator
Time After Time

They had ten or fifteen others that I wanted, but I stopped there because it was already getting bad.

People were coming in and walking off with huge stacks of stuff. I think it may all be gone pretty soon. The store has sectioned off a bunch of box sets they will sell at collectors' prices, so people will have to shell out for the really good stuff (original Star Wars films, etc.).

LifeForce rocked! Lady in White was just spooky and weird. I love the fact that they made the trailer FIRST, showed it arround and through that built their production dollars to make the rest of the film!

Actually, "Lady in White" was the second movie I ever worked on; I did some prop building for it, back when it was in the "trailer" stage. I remember visiting Peter Kuran's studio briefly and seeing a small scene being photographed.

I also remember they had a wrap party for the shooting of the trailer, and there was this huge cake that looked like it was made out of ice cream, or pudding or something. Someone had placed the cake in very dim light, but it looked pretty tasty. So I grabbed a plate and cut myself a slice of this thing, and took a big bite of it. It tasted horrible! Turns out the whole damn cake was made out of mayonnaise dip, like for potato chips! It was solid mayonnaise!!

Lady in White...

Very Cool! I take my head off to you!

Anyone who can dedicate the effort to making a film, no matter how it comes out, is always a leap ahead of those who wish to...

Are you working on something at the moment?

filmmaker2 08-01-2005 07:38 AM

Not today, but that means I can clean the house and stuff.

Hollyweird...

I had the pleasure of working on a commercial over at David Miller Creations, the artist who did Freddy Kruger and the Cryptkeeper makeup effects. Very humbling and inspiring. If you get a chance to check the place out (if he is still in North Hollywood) its worth it. They were working on Face Off, and had a life-size Nick Cage effect they were detailing. It was verrry cool.

Never met David Miller, that I remember, but he does some nice work, definitely. I especially liked the original "Nightmare on Elm Street," that movie is scary as heck, and Freddy Krueger's makeup is really disturbing.

What did you think of The Ugly? Quite a dark little movie. One of my favorites that were made over here. Its a pity all the actors in it have gone back to their shitty soap opera roles and not been snapped up for anything else.
