Gears-of-Warren 05-27-2015 12:02 AM

Today I watch short movie from some short story or folk legend about killer/entity that cross between It Follows and Cnadyman. This movie bad but story is very scary and it is to be made for feature film. I think it filming now.

Gears-of-Warren 05-27-2015 07:42 PM

Today I watch nu movie that rip off Lovecraft story and give no credit or announcement of source. It still better than most Lovecraft movies that are honest of source. ::big grin:: Figure that!

Kingsman: The Secret Service (2014)
This was fun and better than I expected.
Should've been bloodier because it would've done the action scenes more justice. And the movie's Rated-R anyway. But the action quite amazing at times.

I recommend this one.

Gears-of-Warren 05-27-2015 11:14 PM

Short about haunted house and weird twist at end about house not character/ghost.

Mad Max: Fury Road (2015)

http://i346.photobucket.com/albums/p...psa7lyte8w.jpg

A great post apocalyptic-road-action-chase flick with amazing visuals but considering the storyline it was like made only for the fans of that 80s franchise. May be I was expecting more on the character development & story level. Though initially thought Tom Hardy was a great choice for the role but found him kinda disappointing as Mad Max, IMO.

Chappie (2015)

The idea was good but the script needed lots of rewrites, IMO. Felt quite cheesy (characters, events & flow) at times where it could have been a lot better.

The plot was nothing new but it was decently made & well acted. A good drama about vengeance & redemption.

Zombeavers
What is there to say. It's a movie about zombie beavers. No one can go into this with high expectations. And it certainly didn't blow mine out of the water. Slow start with really run of the mill characters that you wish would just get killed off and be done with it, but once the blood started flying it was entertaining enough to at least finish.

...I'm going to have the song stuck in my head forever now.

Man, this really was a great, crazy and fun action flick. The best I've seen in a long time. Reminded me in many ways of "Wanted" and a little less of "Teen Agent".

The fight in the church was EPIC!! ::cool:: ::big grin::

[REC]3: Genesis (2012)

I loved REC 1 and 2. The first one is one of the great horror movies of the 2000's, and it's one of the scariest movies I've ever seen. The sequel is almost as effective as the original and stands as a worthy sequel to a masterpiece in horror. And then there's REC 3. The first two films in the series are found footage, while this drops that format around 15 minutes in. They literally drop it, like someone drops the camera on the ground, and it switches to traditional cinematography. I'll never truly understand why they decided to lose what made the other two films so iconic and terrifying. REC 3 doesn't follow reporter Angela Vidal inside the zombie-infested apartment complex. Instead, it's about a wedding that is ruined when there's a zombie outbreak. There's really not much to this film; it's a pretty generic zombie film. There's nothing truly special about REC 3 that separates it from countless other movies in the genre. Not until the last 30 minutes does it finally get fairly interesting, and it does have a good ending. I can't truly recommend this to anyone unless you're a die-hard zombie fan.

Can't say I blame you. If how bad it was wasn't so hilarious, I might've called it quits within the first scene myself.

"Big Game" 7/10

Story:

"A young teenager camping in the woods helps rescue the President of the United States when Air Force One is shot down near his campsite."

By the same guy who gave us Rare Exports. He also brought the same cast, but this time he included some famous american faces, such as Ray Stevenson and Samuel L. Jackson (OF COURSE!).

It's a funny story, but in the end I would've prefered a Rare Exports 2. Samuel L. Jackson was good tho.

I believe this director is going places. Or maybe he's already left? Maybe he's already there or maybe he's on his way back home again, I don't know. Only time will tell.

Oh, a question for you folks who see this flick. Do you think the director Jalmari Helander has tried to portrait the President of the United States as an everyday man, or is this really the director taking a piss at goverment of the United States and just made him pathetique, hmm? ::smile::

[REC]4: Apocalypse

After a pretty underwhelming third installment, this Spanish horror series largely bounces back with the surprisingly good final entry, REC 4. I was a little skeptical since REC 3 was mediocre, but this was definitely an unexpectedly enjoyable movie. Largely ignoring the events of REC 3 and picking up right where REC 2 left off, REC 4 once again follows doomed television reporter Angela Vidal who was rescued from the infected apartment complex and is now on a ship in the middle of an ocean, but she may still be possessing the parasite that started the initial outbreak. REC 4 won't win any points for being scary or terribly original, as this is more of an action thriller than horror, but it is mostly successful due to the fact that it drops the slapstick comedy of REC 3 and goes for a more serious tone, and the setting make this stand out in the zombie genre. The tight hallways and tiny rooms throughout the ship do emulate the claustrophobic feeling of the first two movies, which amplifies the tension and thrill of many scenes in the film. The characters in the movie also make REC 4 so much better than it could have been. Each character has their own personality and seem real, mostly because of the outstanding acting. If you're a fan of the REC series, I highly recommend REC 4 because it's a great ending to an iconic horror franchise.

I thought it was a decent action-horror flick but as for a REC movie I thought it was quite bad. And the ending was just terrible imo.

I'd love a prequel and I wouldn't mind a sequel/spin-off to said prequel.

There's enough material about the Medeiros girl and the priest for at least one decent movie.

Insidious 2. 6/10

Same rating as the first. Its ok, I can sit through it and stay interested. It runs slow in about the middle of the film. It needed less time in the spooky place(to avoid spoilers) and more of the ghosts. Also using scenes that have been done to death in other films as well as fairly obvious stealing of one iconic scene. Also some things that did not fit put in to further the plot. Also changes from the previous film's mythology to fit the plot.
That said the ghosts were great and as I said the film needed more of them. The acting was decent. The father had a fairly poorly written role so I can't blame him for not doing a good job with it.
Lastly the film was too tame. I don't mean blood and guts or torture, just that the characters are too simple. It was more like watching an episode of a tv series than a movie.

Always enjoy your recs. Watched The Drownsman tonight and give it the same rating you did, 6/10. Entertaining but a bit nonsensical. I wouldn't be surprised if it turned into a slasher franchise though.

Werewolf: The Beast Among Us

Awful characters. Awful CGI, although I was impressed when they actually strayed away from it. The only thing I've thus found worth my time is the gore from body count. I was expecting something tweeny and pathetic with little to no blood so it was a pleasant surprise when I was proven wrong. A dull watch, for at least half the movie anyway, then the story started to pick up. What suspense there could've been was taken away from how predictable it set itself up to be.

For some reason I want to like this movie, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be but likewise it wasn't that great. I would have to give it a neutral rating at best.
