Judas Ghost, 2013. 6/10

I'm not one for ghost hunter films but this was pretty good. Took place all in one room and got to the point quickly. The 'ghost' was pretty cool and only 75 mins long. I could deal with it.

The Pyramid

8/10

I really enjoyed it.

The Black Sea

10/10

One of Jude Law's best movies yet!!

Little Accidents

10/10

Another great movie. the kids did an amazing job!!

50 Shades of Grey

8/10

Well, I'm glad I never went to the theater to see this one because I would have been uncomfortable watching it with a room full of people. I watched the blu-ray unrated version so I don't know how different it is from the theater version but it was like watching a soft porn. All in all, I really liked it and I was surprised my husband enjoyed it too.

The Gambler

9/10

Great movie, love Mark Wahlberg!!!!

Nice to have watched no bad movies this time around!!!!!

Gears-of-Warren 05-10-2015 02:46 PM

Today i watched nu 1 about woman hide in houses and kill people in sleep. Very simple story, but very creepy; i will watch this again but not before i go to bed (::wink::).

"Memory of the Dead" 7-8/10

Evil Dead meets Night of the Demons.

Started out slow, but after the 30 minutes mark it became a crazy weird and highly entertaining scare fest. Only thing missing was the Ash character. This one only had ass characters.

Loved the ending. You don't see that kind every day in horror movies. ::cool::

Gears-of-Warren 05-10-2015 08:04 PM

Today I watched nu "crime thriller" that more horror than crime, happily!! It not complete horror so I not think people here like it much. It mostly road movie and have good effects.

The Canal

SPOILERS I can say even though the build up in suspense was very good, I came out feeling underwhelmed. The scares could've been better. And I'm kinda thrown by the ending. They take all the psychological aspect of it out by adding the bit where the kid heard his dad in the wall and after... I think I would've liked it more had it stopped before that.

Man you and me both! I saw the announcement for the sequel to come out this year at the end of the movie and about freaking squealed.

And to think I almost didn't finish watching it the first time I watched it because of the ''oddness'' of the first transformation. ::big grin::

But if you want a refresher, it's still on Netflix! I'm ready to watch it a 4th time myself. ::smile::

Mouth to Mouth 2005

http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/...to%20mouth.jpg

My summary: A teenage girl in Europe meets someone that gives her a flyer for something called 'Spark.' She joins up with this group, dumpster diving, going to a festival of a sort, etc. Then Spark comes to their final destination(not the end of the film) which is a communal farm.

The film left a lot of things out. Characters changed much too fast, accept things too easily.
The acting was decent, as was the cinematography.
Not very poignant. I'm left with the impression the director/writer had a cursory knowledge of squatters and/or homeless kids. Its not a bad film, but in the end I'd say pass on it unless you've got some free time or are a big fan of Ellen Page(X-men, Juno).

As Above So Below -

A good one, or at least I think so. I saw the trailer to this a while back. I only remembered the car on fire scene and people being in the catacombs under Paris. However, the way the movie started I thought I was watching the wrong movie. The main character is a Lara Croft Tomb Raider type. In fact I think this is a better young Lara Croft movie than those two from Angelina Jolie. It's not really a horror movie but a supernatural adventure movie like a Tomb Raider or Indiana Jones. It might have been better as a real movie and not a found footage trick. It does seem like they use stuff from other movies like The Descent and others. But I still think this is pretty good. A bit more thought and I think it could be worth owning. There are a few things that seem to be there just to check a list and that don't make sense to me. Like the strange girl at the club and how some deaths happen versus others. But this is the sort of movie that afterwards I wouldn't mind seeing what other adventures the main character could go on.

Purge Anarchy -

I rarely watch the news but with all that's happening Baltimore, I watched it a bit. Wolf Blitzer on CNN, that name always cracks me up and can't be real, kept talking about how people were talking about having a purge. I thought that was strange as it was mostly white people locked in their homes in the first movie and happening to let a black person in. And for the most part the well off, entertainment section of Baltimore seemed secure and intact. So I thought maybe it's the second one the newscaster was referencing. And I kind of guess that's it. I'm not sure as I only watched like 15 minutes of news.

Anyway on to the movie, it's barely better than the first one. But both Purge movies are bad which is strange because they both have good casting. Yet they have little real commentary about this Purge. Something I thought was missing from the first movie and now the second. Although at the end of Anarchy they do address what I thought was going on beginning with the first movie, if you go back and check my review of that one. Plus there is a guy we see early on who's against the purge that shows up near the 3/4 mark of the movie. However I still don't know why the mother and daughter were targeted at the beginning of Anarchy. Or the point of the movie when it really boils down to a new realistic type of horror. Kind of like those Saw movies. It's something different. Perhaps I just prefer supernatural and monster stuff more.

EIGHT LEGGED FREAKS (2002). Extremely silly, but quite enjoyable big bug movie. Reminded me a lot of the 50's films and certainly worth a watch or two...also the mother/daughter combo of Kari Wuhrer and Scarlett Johannson::love::::love::. ***1/2

But is it terrifyingly terrifying? Or is the terror terrible...

It was good enough to keep me watching but terrible at times.
Guess it's a bit of a torture flick with extra nudity and shitty action.

BLEEDERS AKA HEMOGLOBIN 1997

A young man suffers from a unknown blood disease and goes to an island in search of relatives who may have lived there at one time. He and his wife figure they may be able to help him if the disease is inherited.

They live there but they are so inbred that they have become hideous creatures that feed on flesh that has been embalmed. They also, through years of inbreeding, have become hermaphrodites able to reproduce their own kind.

I liked it...maybe you will too.

While it is based on Lovecraft's "The Lurking Fear", I didn't quite find anything profound about it. But I really enjoyed it.

I watched a lot of nu horror today already, with to much to list. Good horror day so far. I think quality of independent and short film forms is improved and make big studio soon unnecessary.

I, Frankenstein

I need a box of Ritz and a gallon of wine after watching this cheesy flick. It's just like Van Helsing (same fucking plot and everything). The best term I can think of to describe it is a car wreck. It's a mess of fire and mangled bodies, you know you shouldn't look because it's just too horrible, but you can't help but watch anyway.

Same. It was very bad. Van Helsing was more entertaining. Not to say it was a good film either.
