Initially, I was looking forward to the film. Then, I heard they made it as a comedy. The TV series is sacred to me. I remember running home from school every day to watch it. Now I'm glad I skipped it.

hmmm i dont know about that, he got the male host, but we don't know how truly powerful he is after doing so , i feel like he would continue gathering cultists, but eventually police/people would notice, we don't know if the demon paimon has the power to do that, he is only one of the princes of hell, he is not lucifer/satan....maybe they'll make a part 2 some day

A part 2 where he's getting more followers/power would be fairly unusual film. Havent really seen that since Omen2, right? ::big grin::

THE DARKEST 2017

A couple on a camping trip are tormented by something out in the dark. Had some pretty creepy moments. Not bad.

I saw Hereditary recently for the first time. It reminded me of The Witch. Which I thought was a far better take on the realistic horror movie. At least a horror movie that doesn't scream horror to normal audiences but more family trauma I guess. That's what I thought I was going to see as I kept hearing about the lead actress performance. Hereditary actually explains what's going on when the Mother character reads about it in a book or journal. I can't remember which. But you could tell something was happening with the strange light effect that happened a few times. And of course the chanting people.

And although what happens to a character early on is really harsh. When you remember what happened in a few earlier scenes. Plus the revelation of the character. Then it loses it's impact. At least for me.

Kind of a spoiler but I also thought Autopsy of Jane Doe was a lot better than Hereditary as well. I wasn't going to watch that one but it was recommended by a bunch of people here.

Also I hated the son character in Hereditary. I thought he was supposed to be adopted. Which I guess would have made more sense to the story.

Director David Fincher' crafty looking film, starring Daniel Craig... the decades old death of a young lady is investigated funded by the uncle of the deceased. Although the opening was intriguing, I thought the overall 2.5 hours of the film was a bit exhausting and confusing. The confusion I had, with pretty much all of it, really stems from the fact, as an audience member, I really didn't care about the characters, nor was I particularly curious to get any answers to 'questions' presented in the film.

A boy with supernatural powers is driven to particular a set of coordinates while FBI agents pursue. Somewhat entertaining, but the main characters were rather wooden and lacked depth especially in relation to the story. Overall, it wasn't particular exciting. And mystery and reveal was rather one dimensional, having no relation to the characters needs and desires.

Be glad You didn't see it. It seems everyone in our age range mentions "Running Home from School to watch it". I certainly did, especially in Kindergarten and getting to the TV right after ONE LIFE TO LIVE was ending. Really got into it during the 1795 Flashback (still the Best part of the series) and certainly recall being scared witless on some episodes (The Dream Curse, for example, that Skull with Eyeballs was too much!).
The DS comics were OK , although the Marilyn Ross novels had too much romance in them for Me. The Holy Grail for all things DARK SHADOWS was getting THE BARNABAS COLLINS DARK SHADOWS Game for Christmas 1970. Many a game played with Me and friends with the Fangs becoming "Communal"..I guess Third Grade Boys had other things to worry about then washing the Fangs between games::shocked::!.
Also recall many conversations about the show, especially noticing how Jonathon Frid spoke with only his lower teeth showing and we were wondering how he kept the fangs out of sight until blood time. The best answer We could think of was He had them folded in the back of his mouth until it was time to use them-if only that was the most pressing thing to think of these days::sad::.
Although I thought the show wasn't as good as it had been, April 1971 was sad as the showiest off the air and trying to find other ways to fill that spot. Can't believe it will be 50 years this April...I feel old::sad::::sad::.
