I like parts of it, because Depp did do such a good job. And I swear his hair in that movie was a character all on its own....:D Anyway some of time when he is just alone in the house and acting wacky, it is just priceless. So I think he made it much more enjoyable than it would have been otherwise.

I liked his performance, problem is it's all I liked, I thought he was funny.

Didn't surprise me much, don't get me wrong Owen Wilson is funny but I've always thought Vaughn was funnier. Of course Ben Stiller owns 'em both.

100% agreed.

Iīm convinced that the only reason it came up in the cinemas over here was because Depp was in it. Coz the story.... pleeease.

Yup yup, but sadly enough Stiller wasnīt in it. But Will Ferrel was hysterical.

I saw "Duplex" a week ago. Not a very good or very funny movie, but Stiller had his "Ben stiller" moments (2 to be exact) that had me in tears. But grrrrr... What an irritating story.

Last night, I watched a film that Ive never seen mentioned here, Dark Heritage. REALLY low budget from the late 80's. The acting was beyond horrible, the scrpit was poorly written, and the direction wasnt anything special...but for some reason, I thought it was great, and it definatly had some moments. Example: The gore. Although it wasnt plentiful, or even very well done, it was certainly very effective simply due to it's unexpectedness. Sure, it was obvious the guy was gonna die...but I sure as hell wasnt expecting that. It was pretty predictable too, but for whatever reason, I enjoyed it.

If you ever have a chance to check out this prime example of what you can do with a shoestring budget and a public domain Lovecraft story, check out out!

But...If you think about it...Isn't that how ALL of King's movies 'made it to the big screen' (the ones that DID make it, I mean)?

Carrie - John Travolta
Maximum Overdrive - Emilio Estevez
The Shining - Jack Nicholson
Pet Sematary - Fred Gwynne
Misery - Kathy Bates, James Caan
Delores Claiborne - Kathy Bates, Jennifer Jason Leigh
Green Mile - Tom Hanks, Michael Clarke Duncan
Dreamcatcher - Morgan Freeman

I'm sure I'm forgetting a few...But, you get my point...

I'm surprised that 'IT' wasn't in the cinemas...Considering the names in that one...Maybe it was just too long

As for the 'story line' in Secret Window...It really wasn't much different than 'The Dark Half'...But King had already admitted by that time that he was ripping himself off...Ie: Christine and From A Buick 8...

Funny. You share the same oppinion as all the posters on IMDB. LOL

I for one thought the first was hysterical and had a huge amount of funny characters. I have been a huge fan of Eddie Griffin ever since.

But never in my life have i seen so many bad reviews like the case is with "D.B - European gigolo". Though something tells me that I will like it. Maybe because iīm not american.

Wauw, i had no idea that "Secret window" was from a King book? Never seen that title before. Is it a short story?

Thank you :)

It was also distributed as a seperate book, at the same time 'On Writing' was put out

OH...and I left out 'Running Man' - Arnold Schwarzenegger, on my list back there...

I know I'll think of more...

The_Return 08-22-2005 07:37 AM

You gotta admit that some of those movies do have merrits beyond their stars. Especially The Shining.

Oh, I agree...BUT...I just don't think they would have been given a chance without the stars

I Heart Huckabees. Very quirky, unusual film. I enjoyed it.

I think Vince Vaughn is hilarious, it's that simple.....

Watched a movie called Grim earlier today that a friend loaned me because he wanted me to see how bad it was and it didn't disappoint.

1/10- Quite possibly the second worst movie I've ever seen(S.I.CK. is still infinitely worse)

The_Return 08-22-2005 06:24 PM

The Punisher [2004]

Well, I have nothing to compare it to. Never read the comics, never saw the old movie, nothing. That said, I thought it was great! Funny, action packed, violent...what more could ya want:p

My son [ who works at the video store ] just brought me home a copy of OLDBOY [bless his little heart ] I'm off to watch it ..................NOW.

Last movie seen....Spiderman 2....yet again...lol.

I have to agree with Angra on "swingers".
I was honestly bored much of the way through. I usually like Vince, but...I gotta say this was one of his UNfunniest.
The plot was pretty well...non existant (not that this matters to me in most cases, if certain elements are there), and the time spent watching it just crawled. Didn't even leave enough of an impression for me to remember if I watched it to the end or not.

A combination of the fact that the two main characters reminded me of those loser asshole kinda guys that were outta highschool a few years, that still attempt to chase younger chicks like lame-ass cradlesnatcher has-beens, and the wanna-be psuedo hip dialogue had me wanting to punch just about every person involved with this film.
Just my opinion, overrated unfunny trash.

My advice, go see "made" instead...a slightly better, and less irritating attempt at funny.

Thatīs all so true.

I actually didnīt give a crap about any of the characters. In fact i kinda hated them all and couldnīt care less if the main loser ever got himself some.... Woman.

And Cheeb, it really doesnīt matter if you didnīt see it all the way through. It was all the same anyway. From beginning to end.

Then it must be better than the original. That one had no humor in it whatsoever.
