A delightful take on the home invasion genre with nice gore fx. Fairly obvious to see it's both written and directed by dudes, coz... yea. I'm sure with a slightly better story this would be a horror/comedy lots more horror fans would know of.

The dad (the actor who always plays an asshole in Kiwi flicks) was a hoot. ::big grin::

Thanks a bunch for the rec, Baron Von Marlon. ;)

I'm glad you liked it.

"Home Sweet Hell" 7-8/10

Looked like Katherine Heigl had a blast playing the bad guy for once. Patrick Wilson was good as well, but he got outshined by Heigl in this macabre comedy.

And then there's the hot girl from "The Faculty". Doesn't look like she's aged more than 5 years since 1998. Crazy..

I never would have expected this to be watchable, but now I'm intrigued.

Today i watched nu 1 which combine Cube, Grudge, and ET to make a partly satisfying time. It was too Grudge-like in parts. I give it 3 skulls because it had a bit of crappy Paranormal Activity like stuff.

Today i saw a promo for upcoming film to be like Goosebumps or Monster Squad or something like. It look great, could be big for kids (and big kids too ::wink::)

Ah, so you did feel the same on that one! It could have been done soo much better!

My weekend choices:

The Atticus Institute

2/10

I found it to be very boring. Not much else to say about it.

Horrible Bosses 2

8/10

Very funny, really enjoyed it!!

Dying of the Light

I think Cage did very well with this one. I liked the characters, the action, and I feel it was one of his better ones that he has done lately.

This is Where I Leave You

9/10

Hilarious and good dramatic moments. Good actors and actresses with a lot of fun.

22 Jump Street

6/10

This is what I would call one of those 'stupid funny' movies (like Grandma's Boy, Van Wilder, etc.). I liked the first one better and I do hope this is the last one.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2

10/10

Loved it!! I am a huge fan of super hero flicks and this one didn't disappointment me; good acting, good humor, and fun action!

The Grand Budapest

0/10

It was horrible!! So many actors and such lame acting ::sad:: This was just not my type of a movie.

Inherent Vice (2014)
Quite slow and kinda weird but not in a bad way.
Casting and acting were solid.

"R.I.P.D." 8/10

"Ghost" meets "Men in Black".

I was actually surprised this movie wasn't directed by the same guy who made the M.I.B.'s. All the signs were there. What'd you know.. ::smile::

Today i watched sequel to this one. It not close to original but not a waste of time completely. The scary doll with the moving eyes was creepy in beginning.

A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night (2014)

http://i346.photobucket.com/albums/p...ps39bt2qat.jpg

Loved the stunning black & white cinematography but this is more of a drama (with a bit of art house approach) than a horror/vampire flick.

"Breaking the Rules" 8/10

What a sweet movie that was. ::embarrassment::

TheBossInTheWall 04-14-2015 09:58 AM

The Estate 2011

The story of a bad boy hoodie & his gang that dominate their zone on a notorious South London Estate, and five families struggle with every day crime. Police corruption is at a high & residents are pushed to the limit.

I didn't finish it. It wasn't a good story. Too many characters doing too many things. Made it boring. Bad acting too. It is always a novelty, though, for me as an American watching characters in gangs, lower class, terrace fighting, etc in UK films because there's a lot more mixing of races as friends/gang members/etc. That its not about race, but about class. I concede I've never even been to UK, but at least film wise this is a major, important difference between US movies/shows about gangster, cops, etc.
