BEST OF SEX AND VIOLENCE-1981. A great party tape! Hosted by John Carradine (very wry and dry He is), this has a lot of exploitation trailers from the late 60's-early 80's, with considerable nudity and lots of violence as well. Some of the films include BURY ME AN ANGEL, TERMINAL ISLAND (more Phyllis Davis , Marta Kristen-LOST IN SPACE-and a young Tom Selleck), DR MINX (edy Williams), THE BOOGEY MAN, DR BLACK AND MR HYDE (Bernie Casy/Rosalind Cash and probably the funniest trailer in the whole collection), I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE, ZOMBIE (imagine a Double feature with those two::shocked::!), TANYA'S ISLAND (early Rob Bottin and a pre-Price Vanity), EBONY IVORY AND JADE and closing with the truly outlandish Rudy Ray Moore trio DOLEMITE, THE HUMAN TORNADO and DISCO GODFATHER.
Most of this, to be sure is junk, but a lot of FUN junk. ***1/2 |

TIN MEN (1987). Mean spirited, but funny comedy of two feuding Aluminum siding salesmen, who meet during an accident that , truth to tell, both are responsible for. Instead of working things out, they engage in a lot of one upmanship and Tit for Tat. Good support by Barbara Hershey, John Mahoney and JT Walsh. There is also sort of a connection to Me...the Redhead who plays "Social Security Operator #1"( and whose big line is to tell the pregnant woman to blow out the candles on the cake) was engaged to my Best Man for a few years and they with my wife and myself hung out quite a bit. Sadly, the engagement didn't take...lots of love, to be sure, but quite contentious at times. ***1/2

CRAZY MAMA (1975). Another in the series of Dames with guns (others being BLOODY MAMA with Shelley Winters and BIG BAD MAMA with Angie Dickinson), this truly has moments, but just veers all over the place and good scenes before are dulled with stupid or unfunny ones shortly afterwards.
This early Jonathan Demme effort is more notable for the cast for me- Cloris Leachman is pretty good as the CM and actually pretty Hot to Trot with the gaudy outfits she wears, Ann Southren, Linda Purl (pregnant by Donn Most-Ralph Malph himself::shocked::!), Stuart Whitman, Dick Miller, Jim Backus, very early roles for Dennis Quaid, Will Sampson and Bill Paxton too. Also of interest to me are two of Cloris's children are in here too, one playing the Greaser and the other "Young Melba". Decent soundtrack also, but once was enough for me. **1/2 |

THE EXTERMINATOR (1980). Vigilante movie about a Vietnam vet avenging the brutal assualt on his friend and cleaning up NYC's mean streets. Christopher George (GRIZZLY, THE GATES OF HELL) is the Cop assigned to his case with time to date Samantha Eggar (THE BROOD). Other people in the cast I noticed were Irwin Keyes (FRIDAY, THE 13th, HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES), Ned Eisenberg (plays a sleazy and usually ineffectual lawyer on LAW AND ORDER: SVU) and Louis Edmonds (TV's DARK SHADOWS).
Not bad overall, with decent turns by Robert Ginty (watch him use a TERMINATOR line a few years earlier!) and Steve James and while fun to see him deliver payback to various scum, depressing to know that people like that are really out there and NYC looks grimy as hell, especially in the Time's Square area.*** |

I thought The Exterminator was the one where a maniac captures women and kills them with a flamethrower, but that's Don't Go in the House (1979). Then the description you give of Exterminator reminds me of the 80's film "The Park is Mine". I just looked at the theatrical trailer, and I haven't seen this. It looks really exciting. |

I love pretending that Bob in City is the Living Dead, is the grown version of Bob from House by the Cemetery.
Are you gonna finish the trilogy, Bloof? |
SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT (1973). There's an old house at the edge of town and plenty mysterious goings on...who or what is responsible. This is OK and nice seeing John Carradine (although he TRULY has nothing to do) and Cult Queen Mary Woronov (ROCK AND ROLL HIGH SCHOOL, DEATH RACE 2000 and the great EATING RAOUL) in here. Lots of padding and probably would have helped if my copy had been better. **

THE BEYOND 1981
A young woman inherits a strange old hotel with a rather bizzare history....past and present. Out of the three, "House by the Cemetary", "City of the Living Dead" and this one, my favorite would have to be "H.b.t.C. |

MONSTER DOG (1985). >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>SPOLIE RS >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> After releasing DADA and being dropped from Warner Brothers, Alice Cooper cleaned himself up and took a few years off before releasing CONSTRICTOR in 1986. really cheesy film has Coop playing Vince (!!::shocked::, his real name) Raven, a big rock star returning to his home after many years to film a video.
Of course, there are setbacks to this, especially violent townspeople (who look like they could be in Sam Peckinpah and Sergio Leone westerns!) convinced Vince has the "Family Curse". Gets pretty violent towards the end with Alice having many of his Stage faces when he is commiting meyhem. Pretty awful throughout, in particular the title character, although if You are a Cooper fan, you should check it out. At any rate, it's a lot better than KISS MEETS THE PHANTOM OF THE PARK, not that's any real consolation. There are two songs in the film; "See Me in the Mirror" is nothing great (although he does have the 1981 SPECIAL FORCES LOOK), but "Indentity Criseses" which opens and closes the film is actually pretty damn good and sounds much like Iggy pop. Both ended up on THE LIFE AND CRIMES OF ALICE COOPER boxset. ** |

MANIAC (1980).>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>SPOLIERS>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>.
Pretty sure I reviewed this earlier, but after seeing the photo from Deadbeat At Dawn's last post, decided to watch it again. When dating, my Wife had special condemnation for this (similar to the Gallery of Outrage in the Special Features) telling Me how She wanted to "...shower when it was over" and after ten minutes as well, whereupon I asked her if She didn't like it, why not just leave and see something else::stick out tongue::? Quite grim and squalid, but well made and really good Savini work, even if he all but disowns it these days. Noticed this past viewing how Convincing the Nurse in the Subway (I think the actress is Kelly Piper, not 100%) is in showing her absolute terror while hiding in the bathroom stall..you can almost smell her sweat. Almost as frightening is seeing Porn vet Sharon Mitchell as a Nurse (offering Kelly a ride home, which she should have took)-after watching the deviants SM played in the XXX trenches, just wonder what kind of "care" she would show a patient after visiting hours::danger::? ***1/2 |

But I’m glad you got to see all three films. You’ve finished Fulci’s “ Trilogy of Death “... Cuz y’know, he only ever made three films that had anything to do with death... |
The New York Ripper ( 1982 )
https://www.gbhbl.com/wp-content/upl...2/New-York.jpg Synopsis: In this romantic comedy, Fulci tells the tale of a madman loose in the Big Apple who’s penchant for sadistically torturing and butchering nubile young women has the police baffled. The killer’s brutal and misogynistic M.O. is eclipsed, only by his bizarre tendency to taunt the police in a “ Donald Duck voice “ as they race to catch him before the body count rises. Oh man, they sure don’t make ‘em like they used to. This is one of THE prime examples of sleaze the genre has to offer, and its fuckin’ great! The absurdity of a killer that quacks as ( to quote the movie’s coroner ) ” He used a blade. Stuck it up her joy trail, and slit her wide open “ manages to be both extremely graphic and hilarious at the same time. The fact that every guy in this flick is a scumfuck degenerate to some extent ( even the hero detective ) whom treat women somewhere between bad and like shit, works as excellent commentary reflective of the times and still manages to ring true to this day unfortunately. It’s a grimy, disturbing, and nasty little film that pulls no punches in it’s portrayal of abuse and violence towards women in all its forms, set to a rockin’ score by Francesco De Masi. The only real downfall of the film, is in its whodunnit plot point. The killer’s identity is easy to decipher, as the handful of characters we are introduced to sport only one obvious red herring, and he’s too damn obvious to be it ( though he is a cock smoker... You have to watch it, lol.) and that’s not to mention that the back of the box literally shows the murderer attacking our heroine... Fucking oops. Overall, if you’re in the mood for a giallo that is more mystery and atmosphere, maybe check out Argento’s Profondo Rosso or Fulci’s Don’t Torture a Duckling. But, if you’re looking for something that’s light on plot, but big on gore and the kind of sleaze that makes you wanna take a shower afterwards, this is one of the very best there is. Rating: 8 body part fetching dogs, out of 10 |

THE INCREDIBLE 2 HEADED TRANSPLANT (1971). Judging from the title, You can imagine how ludicrious (sp?) this one is. Crazy as a quiet Hatter, Bruce Dern has been transplanting an extra head on animals for reasons not quite made clear and with the urging of his Assistant decides to graft the head of a Homicidal Sexual Sadist (Albert Cole, who has a great laugh) to the body of a very large mentally challenged worker and the usual hijinx commence.
Incredibly brutal in its treatment of said MC worker, this sadly doesn't reach the outrageous heights one would expect from this and quickly falls apart. Also has Pat Priest ("Marilyn" from THE MUNSTERS) and Casy Kasem. ** |

USED CARS (1980). May have reviewed this sometime over the past few years, but listened to the genuinely funny commentary (it seems Kurt Russell finds humor in just about anything). This had its thunder stolen by AIRPLANE released around the same time, but I find UC has held up better. Jack Warden plays twin Brothers who own competing car lots and ultra nasty Roy L is not above highly questionable tactics to get his nicer, albeit less moneied, brothers lot. Kurt, in clashing leisure suits and non stop Motormouth, tries his best to stop him from doing so with help from a highly superstitious salesman, a fouled mouth violent mechanic and an adorable highly inventive dog, all the while unloading cars by hook or crook. This is wild and crude throughout, but one that is incredibly funny and improves on future viewings. Some the scams the guys use to sell cars are hilariously inventive if not exactly ethical and there are two Car commercials that could only have thought up by lunatics...and I mean that in a good way. Many years back started a little thing called "B-Movers" where a group would get together to watch movies that weren't quite so commercial and I showed this at Meeting #3. Went over quite well one buddy rocking back and forth, while I was sure another was going to hyperventilate as he was in literally gulping red faced hysterics. ****1/2 |

My most recent venture was Bloody Birthday (1981) a slasher following three kids that are born during a solar eclipse who proceed to kill anyone that annoys them. |
Marathon Man: Good stuff. Hoffman was on point, Sir Laurence Olivier was convincing as a creepy Nazi. Also funny to see a young William Devane.
It's one of those classic seventies thrillers. Is it okay to say they don't make'em like that anymore? |
