I find most horror based tv shows, this one included, to be tailor made for people who don't watch horror. Nothing close to horror. It's a soap opera where powerless zombies occasionally show up and cause minor inconvenience.

I have to agree. The Walking Dead is a good show due to acting, sets/locations, and story. The walking dead could be gangs of violent people or dangerous walking mushrooms. I wonder how easy it would be, though, to sustain dread and uneasiness with each episode. The Killing sort of did, but it wasn't horror.
American Horror Story is just bad and not horror. True Blood isn't horror most of the time, just a drama tv show except taking various aspects to more and more extremes. The first season small, the last much much bigger. A couple of X-files episodes were horror, but not part of a consistent story. Friday the 13th the Series was often horror, but no consistent story. So it was just like having a different horror short each week. Penny Dreadful is an amazing show, but there's no dread to it.
Though there was that one british show about people being turn to stone I think? And if you touched the stone you'd get a shock of who the person was. That was fairly creepy.

Everyone ready for tonight?

As an avid horror fan, it takes a lot to scare me or make me feel uncomfortable. TWD doesn't get to me but that doesn't mean a lot. The gore is usually pretty sweet for television though. I will say I wish the show was more like the comics but I could never see them letting Carl lose an eye without some group of assholes having an issue with it and claiming child abuse.

Vodstok 10-13-2015 08:57 PM

I like it. There are just enough characters that I like to keep me glued (Michonne, Daryl, Glen, Maggie and god help me Rick)

I like that I get several episodes-worth of good old fashioned zombie horror every year. It's like Lootcrate for Romero fans. I think people that bitch about it but claim to like zombie movies overlook the low points of actual zombie movies. A lot of the acting/characters/plots of zombie fiction are dogshit. Most even.

But TWD tries to keep it fresh, which in itself is admirable. It's the show I've wanted since I got into zombie horror in 1995

Angra 10-14-2015 03:38 AM

Unless the audience at some point loses interest I don't how this show will ever end.

It's the same things happening over and over again while the story is pretty much going nowhere. I'm still watching it tho, coz I think it's a good show. Just sayin..

Anthropophagus 10-14-2015 10:27 AM

I`m the same Angra,i keep watching but it doesnt have the hold as it once had on me.Gore aside it can get boring and yesterdays first episode was same old same old.But i`ll keep watching because................i love horror.

And although there another thread i will just add that i much prefer Z-Nation.Yes it is quirky and more humorous and a budget difference but i find the whole saga much more interesting to watch that TWD.Murphy in particualr is a dream of a character.I love that guy.

Morningriser 10-14-2015 12:06 PM

Without spoiling anything for those who missed the season premiere, I hope that INSANE sight we saw in the opening segment is among the last episode or 2 from the season finale and the black and white backstory scenes keeps coming with small scenes here and there from the present and the two meet each other eventually.

!!!SPOILERS BELOW!!!

Highlight to view
Does anything this will be the season where we meet Negan? The creators have already confirmed he is coming and last season we saw Glen with the ball bat and many believe he was at Terminus when the others were. I was thinking he could have been the one sounding that horn.End of spoiler

VERY funny jokes using Walking Dead stills.

They're a bit crude so I won't post any. Check out the link and laugh.

I can't believe no one has posted about the latest episode. Personally, I don't think it's true.

Might be the dead guy lying on top of him who's getting eaten, but I hope not.

Morningriser 11-02-2015 07:17 PM

Glenn isn't dead. First of all the face he is making isn't that of someone being eaten alive. He isn't screaming he is struggling to get free and with that much gore he would have been spitting up blood big time. Glenn is fine.

Anthropophagus 11-04-2015 09:47 AM

Last weeks episode with the heard gave me new hope with my love hate relationship with TWD.Last week was awesome, gripping and i was glued to the very end.

Alas this week we have gone back to the Little House on the Praire soap opera. Some say it is interesting to see Morgans back ground,i dont care personally. If they are going to start doing this with every character than it is going to be bye bye from me.I hope that this was just a one off.Otherwise i will stick to Z-Nation.At least that tries to be different.

Morningriser 11-29-2015 03:48 PM

anyone going to watch the midseason finale tonight?

Ms.Macabre_91 11-29-2015 04:37 PM

Hell to the yeah! I can't wait to see what happens next.

Morningriser 11-29-2015 04:52 PM

well I know 1 thing that will happen but am excited about the rest

Angra 11-29-2015 11:29 PM

Disappointing.. nobody died.

Ms.Macabre_91 11-29-2015 11:38 PM

They didn't show Deanna die but you know she did/is going to. She was bit and had more walkers coming at her than she had bullets for.

I am a little disappointed that son of porchdick didn't shoot Carl's eye out yet and Morgan is a cunt.

cheebacheeba 11-30-2015 04:05 PM

I don't know...I mean I'd say the show has taken on its own path enough for this not to necessarily happen, or to happen, but not necessarily to the person we think it will happen to.
I'm sure it's a scene that will happen to some extent, but yeah...while the show has loosely paralleled the comic, a lot of different things have happened.
I mean. Andrea and Judith. Swapping fates essentially.
Tyrese being gone already. Daryl even existing.
It's not without it's changes, and often pretty big ones.

I still expect Carl to get shot and Rick's new girlfriend is going to need a hand in the next episode...

Deanna turning and eating the baby would've been a nice shocker. Why is that baby even there? It does nothing to the story, unless we have so many seasons left it eventually ends up saving the world. If not, kill it.

We don't need babies in this show. It's not Full House. Yet.

Yes, I expect the eye or the hand...probably the eye for shock value and cliffhanger bait, as it was in the comic, as the show LOVES to do.

Morningriser 11-30-2015 10:36 PM

A friend of mine had a theory for when the time comes for the show to end. He suggested what if Judith and Maggie and Glenn's baby, being conceived and born after the apocalypse started would somehow not be infected and their blood would hold some kind of cure or the children that are born after have to repopulate the earth?

Yea, something like that. What else would be the point of having babies on this show?

I imagine a lot of kiddie orgies will be popping up everywhere like in Cherry Falls lol

Ms.Macabre_91 12-01-2015 12:45 PM

I just figure with the new babies popping up that at the end of the series they would do a little epilogue after the credits where they show them grown up and a little better off while they remember what their parents did for them to ensure their survival.

I bet Glenn and Maggie will have a boy who will one day bend Judith over a table like the governor did to Maggie ::big grin::

I've had enough again. Going no where show. I hated the tease for next season. More crazy people. I'm starting to think that this show might be damaging to society as it feels like it promotes a crazy time with no laws and no law enforcement.

Judith has been dead in the comics for a while, maybe they're saving her death...
