Absolutely worth it.

What do you guys think....I'm gonna get a ps2 (Yeah, I know how behind I am, I'm still chillin' with my psone and dreamcast)...Anyways, I'll be getting the slimline model which comes through a local EB retailer pretty affordably with a few games, yknow....your standard package.
Now, I always figured I'd get it chipped...but, now it seems like on the release of the x360 and upcoming release of the ps3...I don't know if there's a point.
Seems to me the originals are now available second hand, and even new at pretty damn low prices...sure, now AS low as the prices I can personally get on copied games, but I've heard modding severely effects the lifespan of the unit, especially the ps2...so, what do you reckon...is it worth having it modded, or should I just deal with having "cheap but not as cheap" ps2 originals?

When I got another PS2 I got the service plane from Best Buy because when the PS3 comes out I can actually return my PS2 and put the money I spent on it toward the PS3. Interesting little policy...

Anyway, I've never been into copied movies or games... I like owning the originals and while it costs more money I actually have a collection. ONLY reason I would get a modded PS2 is so I can play imports easier.

Im playing the Waiting Game.....Waiting for my damn shift at work to finish.

When I get home - Soul Calibur 3

noctuary 04-15-2006 10:58 AM

Star Ocean 3. I missed this game when it came out, and recently picked it up for cheap. Pretty cool RPG so far, although I've only played about 15 hours.

Despare 04-16-2006 09:14 PM

I just played the XBox demo for Hitman: Bloodmoney... about 8 times. I love the newspaper review at the end and I have GOT to get this game when it comes out. Controls have a few wonkey moments but other than that I love it.

Yasashii 04-17-2006 09:57 PM

'Fatal Frame 2; Crimson Butterfly.'

On the ps2. I like it better then xbox/xbox 360 *cough*

cheebacheeba 04-18-2006 05:43 AM

Painkiller.
It's a little like Serious Sam and Will Rock thrown into one...but darker and better than both IMO, with a crazy-ass physics engine to boot, Fuckin' crazy ambient sounds kinda fuck with you too...it's been out for a while now, but still worth a look if you haven't played it yet.

Conan (PC)

cheebacheeba 04-18-2006 08:09 AM

The new(ish) one?
That game looked fucking awesome...

AUSTIN316426808 04-21-2006 12:07 AM

I'm still playing Ghost Recon:Advanced Warfighter...

There's a gun with a camera on top with which you can see and shoot around a corner while staying covered...

There's a sniper rifle that can shoot through a thin wall of cover from over a hundred yards away...

There are very effective smoke grenades that gives you about a minute or so of thick cover and maneuverability...

Quite often you have three squad members, tanks and black hawks at your disposal...

With all that I just listed this is still probably the hardest fucking game I've ever played, great but fucking hard.

Angra 04-21-2006 06:43 AM

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

Havenīt actually started on it yet, but it looks amazing.

Metal Gear Solid 3:Subsistence

As reissues go it does'nt get much better than this.I had a mild erection just over the new third person camera feature, lots of extras...very cool.

For those of you also having a hard time waiting for MGS4 this reissue should provide a nice fix for little while.

Also playing a bit of Oblivion.

Despare 04-25-2006 07:52 PM

Counterstrike Source and Battlefield 2, been in a shoot first mood lately.

Despare 04-26-2006 08:27 PM

Picked up NBA Street V3 for $20 which was a good deal, fun game.

slasherman 04-30-2006 12:49 AM

Half Life 2 ....Fear and Warhammer 400000000000000 dawn of war

cheebacheeba 04-30-2006 04:38 AM

Still playing between:

Painkiller (pc)...fun, nice dark scenery, cool music, excellent physics, not brilliant, but a good play.

Fehrenheit (aka Indigo Prophecy, PS2)...Different, dark, remarkable plotline, unusual gameplay techniques, very cinematic but doesn't cost the gameplay a thing. I'd reccomend this for anyone looking for an in depth storyline, and something that hasn't really been done before.

God of War (PS2), Simply one of the best action titles I've played in years...REALLY bought the standard up somewhat for games of this genre.

Abominus 04-30-2006 07:23 AM

True that it hasnīt been done before. But do i wanīt to see it be done again. NOPE!!

The gameplay got on my nerves halfway through the game and even though the creators had done a lot to make u wanna play it again, thereīs no chance in hell that i would ever do so.

Major League Baseball 2K6

Good game and everything but what the hell happened to the expansion mode? That was my favorite thing to do on 2K5.

Thorns_demon 05-11-2006 01:49 AM

Far Cry Instincts Evolution, very nice game but very difficult, I'm walking around the islands to search for my goal but I just can't find it, I spent hours walking around :s but the graphics are very beautifull tho

Pure, old-school, turn-based JRPG goodness. I'm loving every second of it.

Ok...I'm past the "taken aback" stage now. I likeD the innovative "make decisions that effect the outcome of the game" idea, and the using of the analogue sticks to manipulate things in the game in various ways, I LOVED the storyline, the music, the weather effects, and the whole "feel" but when it came to the "action" sequences, it did piss me off...namely because rather than watching the action, you got to watch little buttons...you don't really get to concentrate on what's going on onscreen without fucking up your pattern. Now, I don't mind SOME sequences like this (eg - die hard arcade/dynamite cop), but I would've liked a more "hands on" approach to the majority of them...especially if it came to combat scenes...but, I'll never know that because due to lack of variety in terms of these "action sequences", and that I could barely even get to look at the action taking place, well, I took it back.
It's a game that really COULD HAVE been great.

So, now I'm stuck with finishing painkiller off, getting into "jak and daxter", playing god of war on "god mode"...and whatever I end up exchanging the absolutely BORING "10,000 Bullets" with at EB.
Of course...I have a HUGE range of games in boxes 'n stuff, I could pry into that whenever...
