I mentioned the other day in the "Ghosts" thread that my friend Steve's wife brought us out some coffee while working, and said that was a topic for another post, so here goes She brought out two cups and even brought out a thermos, (she's a Martha Stewart type) with more in it so we could have more then one cup if we wanted. Well I love a good cup of coffee, (stronger the better) several actually. I like it black, no creamer, no sugar, just strong and hot. So bringing the beverage to my lips I take a sip. Immediately I spit it out like, a fire eater expels lighter fluid, exclaiming, "What the hell is this shit?". Steven tells me that this is some kind of flavored coffee his wife buys. I said what flavor is it? he said I don't know ask her...I said I'm married I know better then that. He said it was some kind of French, cheesecake chocolate vanilla bean crap. I told him I drank coffee with my cake, not coffee that tastes like my cake. He said it sorta wears on you after a while. I told him I'm not going to even try to get used to this. I poured out my cup, I poured out the thermos. I told Steve to load up in the truck we were going to town. He said for what? I said for coffee. We drove the truck up to the house, I honked at one of the kids and told them to tell their mom's we had to go to town for some stuff. We drove to a small hick town nearby, (5-6 miles is nearby in the country) to a small grocery/convenience store. We went back to the coffee pots, I filled a ozone depleting, greenhouse effect creating, in turn polar ice cap melting Styrofoam cup with real brew, and the thermos too. We proceeded to the register and paid for everything. To the side of the register were a couple of booths and tables, we sat down and drank our real coffee, Ahhhhhhh...Steve couldn't stop grinning, I told him liberation is great isn't it!

After returning home we poured a couple of cups more from the thermos, leaving maybe a cup or so, I poured out the remains so our secret would be safe. Later after we finished with our work, we cleaned up and took the families out for dinner, afterwards we headed to Steve's for a bit. While sitting in his den/living room, his Martha Stewart wife and mine walks in carrying a plate of cookies and two cups of coffee...Oh God I thought...Steve's wife said, "I thought you guys might like this seeing how you drank all that coffee this morning!" They left the room, Steve looked at me with a grimace and said, "liberation's great, isn't it motherfucker!".

hahah :) thats quite an amusing one.

I'm like you, If a coffee aint a proper coffee, i.e made from strong Lavazza beans or the like, then I aint gona drink it.

All that 'new-age' flavoured crap ruins a perfectly good drink.

Figure this one out!

If I drink coffee iced--which is everyday, regardless of the weather--I drink it black--no sugar--hopefully no flavoring.

If I drink coffee hot--only when iced isn't available--I load it down with sugar and fake powdered cow!

Nuts? Muy tonto.

I work with a guy whose daily coffee fix is a small french vanilla ice cofee with extra cream and extra sugar..... He is also skinny as hell, spends 45 minutes shaving his stupid little chinstrap beard, and sounds like a fucking high school girl when he argues with his girlfreind on the phone.....

And he actually said he could take me in a fight once.... His name is jim. He went off about the coffee not being right once (not enough sugar or some shit), so I said "on the next episode of 'Jim-eye for the straight guy...'"

We all pointed and laughed. it was funny :)

That being said, i like cream and sugar in mine, but not much. And regualr coffee is fine, but dark roast is the best.

REAL over instant any day.
I don't have a preffered blend, because I usually have around 4-5 that I make different mixtures of depending on what kinda coffee I wanna have.
I put cinnamon in my coffee usually, sometimes nutmeg, cloves or cardammon.
Sometimes, all of the above.

My ferret seems to like it...

I had some real "Mountian Man" coffee while I was hiking in New Mexico. Movieman would probably like it. Superstrong. They put bunch of coffee grounds in boiling water for a bit. When you wanted a cup you take the pot and swing it around so the grounds go to the bottom and quickly try to pour from the top. I poured out the last bit onto the gound and it staind the ground black. Deffently wake you up.

It's just another way to get out of spelling a long word. God I hate slang. Every now and then is ok, but donut? Really, I pity anyone who is to lazy to spell it the right way.

Sounds good...theres a coffee shop out here with the hicks and the rednecks, (believe it or not) and they have a coffee maker called a French Press. The coffee they make with that is the shit, I don't know how it works, but wow! I will usually have a double shot of esperesso with the cup filled the rest of the way with steamed water. They have a drink called the red eye, its a triple shot of espresso, with the cup filled the rest of the way with regular coffee...never been brave enough to try that!

In parts of Hicksville around here it is sometimes spelled--and pronounced--DOG NUT!

We call them doughnuts here too, may be something to do with the fact that they are not only in the shape of a "nut", but also made out of a dough like substance....you never know....

I have a question... I assume it's pronounced "DoeNut" in most places over there right? If so, same here. Just spelled: doughnut.
Ok, so why then is your "version" pronounced "doenut", I wonder...Clearly, by the way it is spelled, it should not be pronounced "doeNut", but "DOONUT"...eh....sounds scottish?!?

My brother worked for a company called "Spudnuts" in the late 60's early 70's. It wasn't a doughnut shop, but a manufacturing plant. They used potato flakes in their batter, they were actually pretty good, they sold them at smaller shops and grocery stores. They were bought out by Maplehurst in the 70's.

Doughnut or Donut, it's kind of like Ketchup or Catsup, whats the diffrence?
