well no more boring than any of the other series characters ...

He is, but it's not because of the character. It's because of the storylines and directors. If they got a kick ass director in there he could be an awesome villain once again. And no Busta Rhymes.

They should make more Freddy movies for posterity. Or else Robert Englund will be wheelchair-bound and killing teenagers by lambasting them with his medicine bag.

Its not Michael Myers fault they are making shitty movies with him in them.I think the posters of horror.com could collectively make a great script for a new movie. To bad it doesnt work that way!

It seems like these characters get killed every movie and then they always come back for 14 more movies

I tend to think most series suck after about part 3/4 and then just go into cash in mode!

I think we should leave Mike Myers be. Granted, Goldmember wasn't the best movie ever, the Shrek movies were really good, and it wouldn't have been the same without him doing the voice work. I think he just needs to pick better movies to be in. And risking a dramatic role wouldn't hurt. It worked for Jim Carrey, Robin Williams, and Jamie Foxx

the halloween series imo is the only one that truly adds something to the story each movie

First post. And it's in the defense of Myers :D

I guess if you find the movies boring, it's just best not to watch them. I have enjoyed every entry in the series (yes EVERY one). Sure some have problems, but most series do - especially one of this length.

I don't want Carpenter to direct them - it's been a long while since Carpenter made a film I care about. Some of his work is great, but films like Ghosts of Mars just make him look washed up.

So I'd go with younger guys. My only regret with the Myers films is that they lack gore. A gorier Myers would be appreciated.

This is true. The time they did that the least was in 8, where they did just enough to kill JLC, and the rest they just treated Michael like some STV killer. It's almost like they took a script someone wrote for a generic slasher flick, changed some names to ones that would fit Halloween, and tacked on the cold opening and passed it off as the next part of the series. So it's no wonder it's the worst of the series (not counting 3)

I didn't see it that way. After Myers killed Laura, what would he do next? Easy, he'd go home. Except when he gets there, his home has been invaded by a reality show. It's topical, makes perfect sense to me, and was executed quite well. Again, a lack of gore, and that idiot Busta, seemed about to sink it - but further viewings have allowed me to enjoy what I saw.

they could have stuck anybody in that role. If they tacked on the cold opening (like I said it seemed like they did) then yeah, that would be what it would seem like. But the main story of the movie was just him killing people in his house. Change his name and mask and you wouldn't even know it was a Halloween movie. The other Halloween movies at least had other things in common.

And as for that idiot Bustah; watch Narc. Specifically the end where Ray Liotta is a total badass and makes Bustah cry.

Personally I think that they should bring back every character that has been left alive from theprevious films and have them kick Michael's ass

Agreed i mean what makes a villan scary?
about 30 percent makeup and demenor. and 70 percent character developement. ITS ALL ABOUT THE CHARACTER DEVELOPEMENT. and lets face it micheal myers just dont have any!!!

Compaired to how many Halloween and Friday the 13th films there are, theres fvery few Nightmare films. I want to see more Freddy.

And yes, I think they should finally put the legend of Micheal Myers to rest. For good.

anyways, Freddy never got much development either. The revelation that he was the result of his mom getting gang-raped (always thought it'd have been interesting if they said which inmate actually knocked her up), him getting whipped by Alice Cooper, hitting a mouse with a hammer, and that's it. Sure, it seems like a decent amount, but its over 8 movies. And the revelation that he was just a movie character doesn't count.
