Since the best season of them all has officially begun with the appearance of Halloween shit on the Wal-Mart shelves, this thread will be dedicated to the recording of your Halloween season. Got a new mask? Tried a new piece of candy? Bought some decorations for the house? Write about it here.

I bought four bags of Halloween candy yesterday. They were all "Monster Parts" candy. Pieces of chocolate made to look like eyeballs, severed ears, lips, toes, and fingers. What's more, they are delicious! (The eyeballs are filled with a creamy fudge, the ears: rice crisipies, the lips: peanut butter). Pour a bag of these into a huge bowl and it's a nice effect. A bowl brimming with parts! (Actually, you'll need more than one bag, since each bag doesn't hold a lot of candy). I plan on stocking up on these and holding out the bowl to the Trick-or-Treaters on Halloween night.

My mom got me a skull mask that only costed $1 :p I think that's the only Halloween thing I've gotten so far this year. I still need a Leatherface mask and a fake chainsaw that makes noise.

it is a beautiful thing, u can feel it, the cool air, its like a touch of relief. i was shocked also to see halloween stuff on the shelves . i had to look around, all the costumes, all the whigs, make up ahhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!! i try and keep my decorations around year long , my bleeding pumpkin, scary tree, and eerie jack o lantern with glowing red eyes, and more. arioch and i's aprtment always has a sense of halloween. though we need more lights. we plan on buying more when a better selection arrives, maybe when spirit opens.

its nice to have found ppl who have the same appreciation for this holiday!

I had to stock our shelves of the halloween stuff. It's like Christmas opening those boxes to see what we got. Alot of it's cheap crap but it's still halloween. Theres a "Plastic man" mask that is clearly MJ but it calls it "Plastic man" on the box. It's pretty f'n creepy. Mabye i'll pick that up.

::BUMP::

I have no idea what I'll be going as ... that is, IF I dress up. I probably won't, though. Might scare my daughter. I bought several more bags of the "Monster Lab" candy I wrote about, and had to get a Halloween bowl to put them all in (we had a Halloween bowl, but we must have lost it or something during the move. I can't find it anywhere.)

I plan on buying Wal-Mart's "Haunted Wind Chimes" as soon as I get the cash, even though it's only $12. That's the only cool thing they have on the shelves right now. Still waiting on the rest of the stuff.

On the Fangoria site they are selling a zombie costume for $50.
It includes mask with wig, shirt and pants with sewn in body parts. Not a bad deal but I myself don't like to wear masks. It encumbers my beer drinking.

Last night, I bought a hanging Grim Reaper (well .... it's dressed like the reaper, but it doesn't have a scythe), and some "Blood Drippings" -- jelly-like substance that you stick to the tops of your windowsills, so it looks like blood is leaking down -- and a Halloween coloring book for my child, all for the low, low price of $6.89! Woo hoo! I'm going back for more in a couple of days .... that is, if Ivan doesn't totally blow us away.

i live on a farm, and my front yard is about ten acres. i plan on having a halloween party this year, so im going to get a bunch of my scrap lumber and make a fake cemetary with a bunch of old fashion wood crosses. i am also going to take my lawnmower and mow a maze in the high grass in the field. ive been gathering old wood for a bonfire at night, plus i'm gonna have the basics, bobbing for apples, wiener roasting, pin the tail on the donkey. and finally a spooky hay ride, hopefully with a couple of "monsters" to scare the kids. and plenty of beer for the adults. if anyone has any suggestions for cool stuff to do at halloween parties, feel free to share.

Haha! I'd love to use a real one. But with my luck, I'd fall on it and cut my leg off or something.
Otherwise, it would be more fun to use a real one. I finally found my mask/chainsaw at Spencer's. :D I haven't actually gotten them yet but I know they have them and I'll be getting them this weekend, hopefully.

At work last year, I was Michael Myers and some girl asked if my knife was real. Yeah, it's really plastic. haha...I thought that was a stupid question. It was one of those bleeding knives and it was pretty realistic I guess, but not THAT realistic. I wanted to use a real knife, but again, with my luck, I was afraid I'd fall on it and stab myself to death or something...and I'm sure if I went in work with a real knife or chainsaw, they'd send me home.

Just heard of a cool lawn decoration for sale at Spencer's. It is an animatronic zombie torso that you place in your yard (so it looks like it is coming up out of the ground). It's pretty detailed, so it looks quite real. But best of all .... it tears its own head off. :D

Just decorated the house for Halloween yesterday. I was worried that we were starting a little too early, but when we saw people driving by and ogling our handiwork, I was glad we started. People, I think, aren't saying: "Look that those idiots! They're already decorated for Halloween", but are saying "Look! They've decorated! Let's put ours up, too!" instead. But, I'll have to drive around and see if we've actually started off the decorating for the community this year.

Anyway, we have green slime lights, and orange and purple lights across the eaves and around the columns in the front of our house. We have a graveyard, with a guy coming up out of the ground (he lights up, too ... a ghostly blue color that fades in and out) and his tombstone (which lights up as well). We have a row of Jack-o-Lantern spike-lights going across the right front of the house and "Warning: This House is Haunted!" security tape x-ed across the two main windows. We have an assortment of ghoulish monsters hanging from the eaves, that jelly-like fake blood I wrote about earlier dripping from the top of my office window, and "blinking eye" lights in the main front windows. We have a door panel for our glass door (which is a traditional Halloween-looking thing with black cats, witches and skeletons), and a big, inflatable black cat sitting behind a jack-o-lantern (one of those nylon things that self-inflates). We also have a variety of window decorations (light up pumpkins, spiders, and owls) and those "Haunted Wind Chimes" you can get at Wal-Mart (which are really fun).

Phew!

Maybe I should just post a picture of the decor when I get the film developed.

Hey! We should make that a contest. "Post your Halloween Decorations" and we all vote on who's is the best! Sound good?

Wow! Your house sounds awesome! I just started buying stuff yesterday. I've only bought a couple things so far. I bought some of those window clingy things (a glow in the dark mummy) and a zombie head candle that when you light it the red wax inside runs out of the mouth, eyes and ears like blood! I've bought everything at Wal-Mart so far myself. Oh yeah and a cd with theme songs from horror movies for less than 7 bucks!

I saw the haunted wind chimes myself and thought about buying them. Since you seem so happy with yours, I may go get them today!

Happy decorating everyone!!! :D

Just finished buying some more decorations today. I bought this small, jointed, wooden skeleton to hang from the porch, a grim reaper that hangs and lights up, makes sound and moves when it's motions sensor is tripped, a string of Jason Vorhees head lights to go across the front of my porch, some of the yellow tape that reads "Caution: Enter At Your Own Risk" and a wooden Jack-O-Lantern sign with arrows pointing in different directions. (Holy Crap...that was one sentence...)

I also bought some different graphics that you can stick to your wall. One is bars with hands reaching out and the other is blood oozing. They're supposed to be safe for "most smooth wall surfaces" but when I went to remove the blood so I could straighten it, it pulled some of the paint off in a couple of spots. So, I very gently pulled of the one with the arms reaching out and thankfully didn't do anymore damage. I was kinda pissed.

Oh well, sorry for such a long post. :o ;)

Sounds like everyone will have pretty wicked houses. One question though, Why does everyone buy the stuff to decorate their houses? Not that there is a problem with that just a question. I remember all the time seeing what we could create at my house. Costumes, Props, Or Decorations. I don't know mabye cause I'm the more artistic kind of person, just some of my best memories were creating halloween with my brothers and father. Making tombstones out of plywood, Making the fences for our graveyard and such. Our house always had such a reputation for being scary. Mabye this is just me and why I am going into the career I am. One thing that puts a smile on my face. Anyone else create their own decorations? Here's a link to a very very good site with tons of projects to help your haunt. http://www.markbutler.8m.com/monsterlist.htm Mabye this can inspire some of you. If your mothers, fathers, whatevers, bring the family into this. Such a great holiday and can be so much more. I'm going to really miss this while living in my apartment. No yard to decorate. Hopefully though I can make it out to treat all the trickers though. Keep use all posted with your houses though. One great thing about this is the abilaty to post pics. So every post their house.

but seriously though, in my neighborhood once u hit like 5 feet theyre like 'arent ut oo old' fuckin A i been 5'2 since 6th grade and ur yellin at me my sophomore yr in HS just like u yelled at me in 6th grade. and these are the fucks that buy the cheap candy that are gettin all groucho at me. You know, I WOULD create my own decorations (it seems that many of my ideas you just can't find to buy anywhere), but I simply do not have the time (I'm a teacher.) I will, however, make a stuffed person to prop on our porch swing ... probably over fall break.

Thankfully, we have plenty of trick-or-treaters in the town I live in now. If you live in a town with a mall, your trick-or-treater days are over. All the moms and pops take their kids to the fuckin' mall on Halloween night. Talk about commercializing a holiday! Halloween seems so much different today than it was when I was a kid. <sigh .... slips into a fog of nostalgia>

I WISH! The school I teach at is located right next to an old cemetery (I take my creative writing class out there every year). The only problem with getting my kids to do any Halloween-type anything is that many people around here think Halloween is of "The Devil" and don't celebrate it. The school will have my ass in a sling if I pushed Halloween on my students.

I posted somewhere else what my decorations are .. We're poor and with a small area to work with, but it's great for what we got, y'know?

I love, love, love, love Halloween! This is my first year ever in my life to be in a state where the is a real "fall" and the leaves change! (I'm from Arizona) So I'm excited about that.

My kids (3 and 5 months) are going as Joe and Blue, and me and hubby are going as a dead bride and groom.

We work at a Haunted Hayride/House place and my husband does the makeup there so it will be pretty cheap for our costumes! Goodwill for the costumes, some dirt and Kiro syrup blood on them .. and makeup and messy hair (maybe even leaves in the hair)

We're going to a parade on Halloween, then taking the kids trick or treating.. Then later, we'll have some people over to celebrate our first anniversery, hand out candy, scare kids, and watch scary movies.

This is great to find others who love it as much as we do. I'm a member at these other forums and like five times now I tried to start a Halloween topic, but I'm the only one who posts!

I got new socks last week! Two pairs, both purple, one with ghosts and one with witches. I have another pair with bells on the, they're bright orange Halloween socks.. I've got like ten pairs of Halloween socks (I wear them year round).. and it's cool enough here (never was in Arizona) that I can wear my black sweater/jacket thing with the jack o lanterns and ghosts on it.

.... Whew, long post, I get too excited.

Woah, I forgot I made this thread.

Nothing new here on the Halloween front ... house is still all decorated (although we did put some stuff up on the inside of the house, too.) Still don't know what I will dress up as, if anything.

Someone here said that he/she was going to rent all the Halloween movies except the third one.

Why??

You want to watch the same fuckin' movie over and over and over again?

At least the third one broke out of the formula with an original, not-Micheal-Myers-related story.
