View Full Version : Moment of Silence

This morning the friendliest of all my female rats gave birth to a litter of 9, I was awakened by their ever so soft squeeling, immediately I knew that her new babies had entered into this world.
They were all healthy, except for one - one died.
I'm just thinking how much that sucks...a life lost when it had barely begun. I can only think how some parents feel when this happens to them.
It was so sad to see the mother touching and licking her dead child to see what was wrong with it, all I can do is hope that she didn't fully understand her loss, but I think she did.
So folks, on the happier side of things, the remaining 8 do look healthy...
I offer you all the oppertunity to observe a short moment of silence, say a prayer, or just do whatever you do to dedicate a moment in your life to those that have been extinguished before their time, humans, rats, and otherwise.

Oh, Cheeba. That little baby will be born again. He just wasn't prepared for this life. Mommy is going to be sad, but she'll take comfort in her other pups. Sending loving energy to you and your momma rat.
I lost a baby three years ago, so I know how she feels. She'll make it through. Life goes on, and it really does. The cycle continues and that baby will get another chance, maybe in another of her litters.
Much love to you, my dear friend.

Truly sorry. Know what it's like to loose a furry one. Had one once, it was running on it's little wheel. Paw went through the wires on the wheel and broke it's little arm. Found him the next day, still tangled in the wheel cold as ice. But with every end is a new beginning. You know what you must do.

I guess it is....HB, I suppose my intention was just to make it so people dedicated some thought to the fragile nature of our finite lives, to let our dead know they're not just forgotten...

- See, I was including humans, also in the part where I said I can only imagine what it's like for a parent to lose their child...
I wasn't going to dwell on Haunted's loss, 'cos she already knows my heart goes out to her 100%...

I think we can let this one sink now Arioch, you can lock it if you please.
