Burned Woman Feared Revenge

The woman whose body was found burned in an Edmonton dumpster was a convicted Calgary killer who lived in fear that her victim's friends may one day seek revenge. Police have identified Cheryl Lynn Black and are are now trying to find out how the 46-year-old woman, originally from the Siksika First Nation about 90 km east of Calgary, met her demise May 18 in an Edmonton dumpster. It took about three months for police to identify the body, potentially losing valuable time in tracking down a suspect should her death involve foul play.

"We didn't have the foggiest idea who she was," Det. Ron Johnson said yesterday.

Black was sentenced to seven years for the 1992 stabbing death of her partner Greg Goodine. Since being released, she ended up living on the streets and in shelters.

Geraldine St. Germain, Black's aunt, said her niece was "haunted" by her husband's killing and had gotten threats she would be tracked down for revenge.

Thats a shame if she killed him because he was abusive. if she just killed him for no good reason, then payback is a bitch.
