I don't like censorship because like when renting dead alive, you could make the mistake of renting the god awful R-rated version.

No. If it's inappropriate for kids, then just don't let the kids watch it. If it's porn, say that it's porn so only us perverts will watch it. If it's violent, say that it's violent. This is why we have a rating system. People getting all pissy about violence or nudity in an R rated movie need to get set on fire

I agree here.......just let people know what in in a movie and let them choose accordingly!

I am sensitive about some things but if I am warned I can at least decide whether I want to see it or not...............I also fast forward too.......

Why really do you need to censor when you can do this? Leaves the freedom of choice!

censorship ruins, what could have been, an otherwise perfectly good film.

wouldn't need it if people would watch what their kids are doing and watching instead of ruining it for ever1 else

i dont have a problem with it as long as an uncensored version is available (music, games, movies, pictures). As for tv i dont like it per say but i understand why its there

i like it for little kids. I agree with the others that parents should be watching their kids more, but, there are those parents who are less aware. personally, it doesn't really bother me. it's not great, but it doesn't suck. it's ok.

Censorship in no way shape or form. I dont want the gummint telling me what I can and cant watch, I dont care what it is. When I rent movies for my little ones I only let them watch them after I have seen them first, I dont give a shit what it is, I watched Finding Nemo before I would let my kids watch it. If there is something in there that I dont think that they should see they aint watching it. Example: Land before Time I wont let them watch it, nothing against vegans I personally dont have a problem with it but this whole "the meat eaters are bad the plant eaters are good" shit is a bit over the top. I will teach them what is right and wrong not the TV. Maybe I am reading into it 2 much, but if I see it.....

I also wouldnt let them watch the Teletubbies I swear that is some form of government mind control.

First off, television in general is poor. Watching a movie on television with commercials is enough to turn me off; let alone when movies are edited for television. I simply don't watch them. That's why there are pay channels, pay-per-view and DVD retail and rental.

I think the FCC is doing a horrible job with network and free cable station broadcasts; very inconsistent. They'll cut a movie like "Blazing Saddles" to shreds, eliminating the "nigger" jokes (remember this was co-written by Richard Pryor) because some people will find that offensive, fine, yet they leave in all the gory violence of "Starship Troopers" which they have aired in the morning, afternoon and evenings.

However, what really pisses me off, is that if I'm watching a family oriented program with kids, the lousy networks are showing totally inappropriate commercials (trash sex with blurred naked people, police violence, etc.). That's where I think guidelines, not censorship, are needed and should be enforced. If the program is child friendly (i.e. rated G or PG) then everything up until the closing credits should have that rating.

I'm not saying they need to cut out those shitty, made-for-losers-with-no-life-reality shows or other crap programs (to each his own), but don't litter unrelated programming with innappropriate crap via commercials. That's where parents and guardians have no chance.

Censorship is bullshit. Add a v-chip to every piece of media hardware, and make the parents program it. If they really want to get sophisticated about it, they could have settings that would edit out certain words and scenes, so mom and dad can be watching Aliens on Sci-fi, while the kids have it on in the room, and the parents hear hudson screaming "Die Motherfucker!" while the kids hear "Fly, motherbrother!" or some other mindless bullshit. At leaast it puts the ciontrol in the hands of the people who are ultimately responsible, whetehr they want it or not.

Give that to the bible belt, let them set the default to "Jimmy Swaggart approves", and the tv will cut out cops, discovery science, or any non-christian jokes on the siompsons
