mid-1800's
For the last 3 years, Ive had the oppurtunity (sp?) to live for a week in a simulated 1800's village. We have very few modern conveniences, and absolutly none (Thank god) most of the day. Even afterwards, we only have the bare nessesites (Modern Kitchen an Washroom)
Some of the best experinces Ive ever had, would love to live in that time period

Nice thread idea....
Middle Ages, the roaring 20's, the wild west, the 60's (for the fucking MUSCLE CARS, GODDAMN how did i manage to miss THAT age) shit...there are some more.....early 90's so i could REALLY get into grundge, or maybe steal Nirvana's thunder and beat them to the punch.....
So basically anytime but now i guess....

70's, that's when all the best movies came out
question: Are we traveling back in time to live there, or are we changing when we were born?

50's, 60's or 70's. great movies, actors, music, causes...

Because of my age, I remember the 50's, 60,s---Grad HS in 1961--the 70's--BBA 1971--The Eighty's and the Ninety's.
The 50's were okay--in school we spent all of our time sticking our heads under our desks to kiss our asses goodbye(Nuclear War)--and everyone you knew was getting polio--no cure or vaccine.
Automobiles were great, movies, girls, people in general--Okay.
The Sixties were pretty much an extension of the 50's.
I would have likes to lived in the 20's or 30's.
Cars drove like shit, Influenza would kill you--and if you did too much screwy you spent your life in a locked mental ward--with shock treatments.
Horror movies were good--but silent--and the whole era seemed glamorous.
Sorry I missed it.
Gotta agree HB....good idea for a thread.
I grew up in the 70s....lots of fun....drinking beer , listening to skynyrd, kinda like one of those movies.Aids wasen't an important issue yet, girls rarely wore bras [ i know those two don't really belong in the same sentence but it was the 70s, and as important as an issue AIDS is now...it wasn't then.] and thats the beauty of it.Much simpler times. Sure there was the whole vietnam issue going on but I was to young for that to affect me,and only in my later years did I realize what a complete fuck up that was.....kinda like.........Oh.......I don't know......maybe......
......Oh yeah....IRAQ.
Sorry...thats not what this threads is about........
So if I was to pick any era it would probabaly be.......hmmm...I'm kinda drawn to the late 1800s...The Wyat Earp years...I'm not sure if I believe in reincarnation, but if there is, I seem to have some connection with that time era.
hmmmmm.....Wyat Newb...the fastest gun in the west.

Ya know, Asians have existed for a while. There have been reports of Asians as early as the early 1940's.
As for representation, you might want to pick someone who WASN'T in Charlies Angels

Well, Ken Watanabe is now Academy Award nominated, and he's in the next Batman movie, so I guess him. Although if Kiyoshi Kurosawa could get some recognition over here (Takashi Miike is too weird to EVER get main stream recognition) then he'd be a good choice.

ken watanabe.. hmmm... must be a good movie then. ohhh i know, hes the guy in 'the last samurai' right? wiat a minute.. the lead in that was tom cruise. funny how when that first came out i was the only one that found that weird.
anyway.. mainstream wise.. there is NO ONE! i think people are more familiar with fuckin jasmine trias than any of the ones u mentioned

then go with Akira Kurosawa. Sure, he's dead, but nobody'd bat an eye if you said he's the best director ever, which counts for something.
Others:
Ang Lee (At least he did Crouching Tiger, Hidden etc.)
Jackie Chan (Used to be good, still has SOME name value)
Jet Li (Hero)
That asian guy from the Matrix movies

I don't know. I want to go back to the real Old West. Meet Wild Bill Hickok. Maybe even Wyyat Eurp. Oh! I know: Doc Holliday! If I could have anything it the world it would be to have been able to met Doc Holliday so If I could live in one era it would be the one he lived in. Ever seen Tombstone? That was great movie and the actor who played Doc played him very well. One of my favorite movies.
'I'm your huckleberry.'
Or back when The King was alive. The 60's I believe it was. Elvis: The King of Rock 'N' Roll. Or maybe Johny Cash.
Sam The Egg
08-14-2004, 09:36 PM
Val Kilmer played Doc in Tombstone, and yes, it was a great job
And Johnny Cash >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Elvis, the overrated piece of shit
Mr. Nash
08-14-2004, 09:42 PM
Thats it! Val Kilmer. He was hilarious.
Cowboy: you're so drunk you can shoot anything. Infact... {takes out a big knife} you're probley seeing double.
Doc: [Takes out his other gun so now he's holding two guns] I got two guns. One for each of ya.
And don't diss the King.
Sam The Egg
08-14-2004, 09:45 PM
FUCK the "king". The "king" was an overrated, nigh talentless sack of shit. He didn't even get the Famous Death right. He overdosed on fucking doctor-type drugs. Perscription shit, not coke or heroin. At least go down in a plane like Buddy Holly or something. He died a fat slob who was a parody of his former, talentless self, and I'm glad. Fuck him.
Mr. Nash
08-14-2004, 10:02 PM
True, the King was a very big man when he died. He loved hamburgers and fast food. I wonder if thats how they came up with 'Burger King'? I respect your thoughts on the King for not everyone thinks the same. But in my opinion Elvis was and is The King of Rock 'N' Roll. To me no one had a voice quite like his. I for one am sad he didn't live longer.

It would be difficult to pick one, but I am going to say late 13th century Scotland. I would have wanted to be on the battle field fighting for Scotlands' Independence.
That is what real wars were like not the high tech video games we have now were you blow up your enemy with the push of the button and a whim.
Also any time in the middle ages, Yes I have fantasies of King Arthur Pendragon, Merlyn, Camelot and all that. It just seemed to be a time of when honor actually meant something.
Also ancient Japan, during the time of the Samurai, and the art of the ninja.

In that case, we'll give you a call in never. people will always suiffer at the hands of others, no matter how advanced we get. All we can hope for is for Dolphins to rise up against us and use us as slaves....
then all we have to do is perform tricks and reproduce, and if we can do cartwheels, they will say "Wow, they are so smart....Mommy, can i feed it?"
Okay, so it would sound much squeekier, but that is the gist of what our dolphin overlords would be saying.
