He was big for a while but it died down in the 80's.

KRUGERKID13
08-23-2004, 08:37 AM
well even then he wasnt that big

he should be a household name like speilberg

CursedRatMonkey

No, then he would be a hothead like him.
I think Ramero's fame should be how it is, because he knows people like his movies, and he is able to walk in public without people rushing toward him saying "OH I LOVE YOUR MOVIES YOU FUCKING RULE YOUR THE MAN!"
atleast not all the time.

And I like Tom Savini's work on day.

Its very hard to compare Argento Fulci And Romereo they all do very different things but in terms of actual skill in directing etc im going to have to say Argento, but the only reason i say that is because he shows such a wide range of films, whereas Romereo really only has a limited amount, all based on the same re occuring theme

CursedRatMonkey

Not really, he has alot of different movies.
But I won't go against you opinion.
Because my personal opinion about Argento(After seeing Deep Red) is that I don't want to see much more of his movies...But I need to.
Because one is never enough.

I like Fulci though, alot of people give him bad credit.
I like his movies.

The Dead

Well if I really would have to pick one, I'd say Romero. To tell you the truth I think Fulci id kind of a hack :)but everyone has diffrent views I guess.

Did anyone see the Argento cut on the new dawn of the dead Special Edition that came out?? Its waaaayyyyy diffrent.

But staying on topic I'd say Romero, Dawn is my favorite movie of all time...Well that and Evil Dead :)

Yes, he is a hack.
A hack that made some decent movies.:D
Zombie is one of my favorite movies.
And he was also impsired by the Romero film.

the guy who made 28 days later mixed Night of The Living Dead with Romero's Crazies.

And I have to say...It is a match between Dawn and Day to me.
I love the music on dawn, but day..Day is just so cool

Argento.

Fulci is very close, but honestly, he made more than 90 films, the vast majority of which most of us haven't seen. Horror was something he stumbled upon late in his career. He was a horror director for a short period of time only. I love his films, it was close with Argento.

Romero is so overrated it isn't funny. He made three zombie flicks that, despite naff SFX and stupid painted blue faces, have survived. The rest of his work is pretty horrible. Every now and again he resurrects another zombie, and we get messes like Creepshow, Two Evil Eyes etc. Romero's "Night of the Living Dead" was excellent. However, looking at his career overall, he's pretty worthless, imo.

We all have our opinions.

I like Romero because of his style in alot of the films, and the certain messages that people usually don't see for some reason.
Racism is one.
Most commonly seen in his movies.

Oh, and they were grayish green in Day, lol.

Baldi

Oh yeah, each to their own. I think his movies LACK style, to be honest. Most of them look like they could have been made by anyone. Subtexts, while interesting, don't alone make a great - or even a good - film. As a horror fan, Romero hasn't made anything significant to the genre for years. Now he desperately needs a hit, so he's going to wheel out another zombie film. Talk about last gasp.....

CursedRatMonkey

Well, he hasn't really been "Big and popular" even when the Romero movie craze was going on.

He does have somewhat of a style, it is weird how he writes his scripts.
He writes the theme first, and then adds characters later.
Which is a reason for people not to accept his work, so maybe one road block in his career.

But I think you might agree that he is a better film maker then Owe Boll(House of the Dead director)

Maybe.
I need to see more Argento films.

I have seen a few Fulci's but I still want to see Argento...
I saw DEEP RED, but I didn't like it much, but I still loved the music.
So I am going to take my chances with that other one of his movies that is really hard to spell.

Romero

But....Ive only seen 1 of his....and none of Fulci/Argento's....

I agree that Romero tries to express his take on society and it's faults/shortcomings in his films, this is one constant in most of his movies. As for gore you can't beat Fulci, City of the Living Dead and The Beyond are great examples. For me Argento concentrates on, "the story" staying true to it's theme throughout.

Being I can only pick one, I'm going with Romereo.

CursedRatMonkey

I like fulci's films.
and I dont think Fulci ever beat the scene in the lab in DAY OF THE DEAD.
When you first see Bub and the professor.
